June 2019 - Part 7!

Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

@WeeBean I showed up on the dot of 8am and got seen at 8:20, so it wasn't so bad. But sitting in this waiting room is so uncomfortable! And the sugar's made the baby go nuts and he keeps kicking me forcefully in the bladder Hmm

Same person has done all the bloods so far 😡 hopefully get someone else for the next two draws. I've never had a needle phobia, but I completely understand why people do now...

KoalasAteMyHomework · 25/03/2019 13:57

Ouch @allfurcoatnoknickers hope you get someone else for the next bloods!

WeeBean · 25/03/2019 14:12

@allfurcoatandnoknickers oh the drink did the same for mine, I don't think he's ever been as active!

I've just had a phonecall to say my test was positive 🙄🙄 fasting level was one point over so being referred today, yay...

Kescilly · 25/03/2019 14:28

Sorry to hear you were over, @WeeBean. I keep expecting to be for mine each time.

@allfurcoatnoknickers I’m sorry it’s been painful, hopefully it will all be over soon! Twenty minutes delay isn’t bad. Mine was delayed nearly an hour! Hoping I don’t have to wait as long on Friday.

I’ve been sent another appointment for another scan a month from now. It coincides with some lunch plans I had scheduled months ago. Does that mean I have to cancel my plans? I normally wouldn’t care but I don’t think I’ll get another chance to see these ladies before having the baby.

OP posts:
imtakingabath · 25/03/2019 14:38

@Kescilly maybe you could contact them to see if you could move the scan first? Worth a try!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 25/03/2019 14:45

@KoalasAteMyHomework @Kescilly @WeeBean I got a different person drawing the bloods! She was much better - no tears of pain this time. Only one more draw to go.

I can't wait to eat!! Might treat myself to lunch at Shake Shack...

WeeBean · 25/03/2019 15:14

Thanks @Kescilly! Hopefully yours will keep coming back negative!

Aw glad you got someone better @allfurcoatnoknickers, makes such a difference. Definitely treat yourself to something nice, I'm sure you're starving!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 25/03/2019 16:46

@WeeBean I had a coffee and a mini pastry to break the fast, and to make sure I didn't faint on the subway on the way to the office, followed by SHAKE SHACK as soon as I got back to my desk.

After over 16 hours without food, they both tasted amazing.

Also pastries and Shake Shack will both be off the menu if I end up with GD, so might as well enjoy while I still can.

@Kescilly did you say earlier you were a Reddit user? Are you on the June group there? I'm an avid Redditor, but I hear that group was drama laden, so I've been avoiding it...

WeeBean · 25/03/2019 17:07

@allfurcoatnoknickers aw I bet it did! Enjoying stuff while I can is my mantra too, I reckon all the lucozade sport I drank when the HG was at its worst is what's done it for me, that and the fact wine gums are massively helping my nausea, if they're off the menu it will be zero craic!

On the plus side at least I should get an actual lunch in work now because of the GD! I've had to go into reception in my place for health and safety and you're just expected to work through and eat lunch as you work. They made allowances for one other pregnant woman because she had GD.

Kescilly · 25/03/2019 17:11

@allfurcoatnoknickers yay for being done with the test! I treat myself to mushroom ravioli from a local restaurant each time. It’s the sort of meal I’d never normally finish, but I practically inhale after the test! Are you feeling better now?

Yes, I’m a longtime Reddit user. I joined both the May and June groups but really only post in May. I heard that about the June group but haven’t really seen any drama so I wouldn’t worry about that. I post in the May group there simply because my date was moved up to May and I figured it would balance out the June group here!

@imtakingabath I thought about doing that but wasn’t sure if I should since I could technically make the appointment. It took me sixty redials to get in touch with anyone last time. But maybe I’ll just ask at the desk on Friday since I’ll be there anyway.

How’s everyone else doing today?

KoalasAteMyHomework · 25/03/2019 20:14

@Kescilly I'd definitely try and call and see if you can move the appt, or speak to them Fri if you're there anyway. I've had to move some of mine due to childcare issues etc. Doesn't hurt to ask.

@allfurcoatnoknickers so glad you got a different persons for the other blood draw!

allfurcoatnoknickers · 25/03/2019 21:41

@Kescilly thanks! That's good to know. And likewise, I would not normally scarf down a pastry followed by a burger and chips but I was SO hungry. Still extremely anxious about the results though, so there might be some stress eating too.

@WeeBean that's a silver lining I suppose Grin

allfurcoatnoknickers · 26/03/2019 00:52

UPDATE: I don't have GD! Such a relief.

Unfortunately, thanks to the phlebotomist, I have huge black and blue bruises on my arms and Iook like a heroin addict Angry.

WeeBean · 26/03/2019 07:02

@allfurcoatnoknickers YAY for a negative!!

My left arm is black and blue and the woman doing mine was great so I dread to think what yours is like!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 26/03/2019 07:11

Great news allfurcoatnoknickers

stellarfox · 26/03/2019 08:02

@allfurcoatnoknickers Congrats! I’m in the June group too (on fb too) and it seems fine but it’s such a big group I only browse every so often! Also it’s mostly people from the US so not as helpful as a UK based group. I once asked about NCT classes and no one knew what I was on about 😅

30 weeks today so officially 75% done eek!

imtakingabath · 26/03/2019 12:55

@allfurcoatnoknickers congrats on the GD result! I am very envious of your Shake Shack, their burgers and shakes are so good :P I had to content myself with my homemade beef and carrot burgers last night instead haha.

I'm 31 weeks tomorrow, I can't believe I'll then be in single-digit weeks left until the due date! It feels like I've been pregnant forever but also feels like time is going very quickly.

rollerskaterdata · 26/03/2019 13:17

@imtakingabath I can relate, I'm 31 weeks on Thursday and starting to panic a little as I realise birth is increasingly imminent! Urghhhh I have to give birth again! 🙈

fee1234 · 26/03/2019 13:42

@allfurcoatnoknickers great result!

I'm just back from physio for pelvic girdle pain (my hips are the sore area for me), would recommend it if other maternity hospitals offer it! A room full of 10 sore heavily pregnant ladies rolling around on pillows and bouncing on balls basically, but learned a few good techniques for sleeping / standing up / sitting down.

imtakingabath · 26/03/2019 13:58

@rollerskaterdata yeah it's quite nerve-wracking! I've never been through it before either so no idea how I'll hope...!

Bizawit · 26/03/2019 14:07

yay @allfurcoatnoknickers :) :).

I had my 31 week appointment yesterday, and have developed a new anxiety about the position of the baby - her head seems to be diagonally downwards, but off to the left side. Does anyone else know where their babies are yet, and should they be head down already?

toasterstrudle · 26/03/2019 14:08

@Bizawit plenty time for baby to get in position! My son was breech until week 36, then he turned by himself Smile

imtakingabath · 26/03/2019 14:58

Oops obviously my previous comment should end with "cope", not "hope"!

I have bought an exercise ball but still need to inflate it, might see how I get on sitting on it at my desk (I work from home) to get my baby into the best position!

Kescilly · 26/03/2019 16:01

Congrats @allfurcoatnoknickers!

@KoalasAteMyHomework okay, I think I'll ask on Friday then. I'm never sure what NHS "etiquette" is about these things!

@stellarfox yes, I joined Mumsnet just to have a British perspective on things. I have all these friends back home but none of their experiences translate very well to things here. When I first got pregnant I realized I didn't actually know anyone who had given birth in the UK! Luckily I've met a few people who have since then, and of course I have all of you lovely MNers.

Congrats on 30 weeks!

And @imtakingabath and @rollerskaterdata congrats on approaching 31 weeks! I think I'm meant to be 31 weeks tomorrow as well. I feel totally unprepared and would like an extra month please!

I was actually going to ask about positioning and movements from second timers here. The past few days I have still been feeling more movement, but it feels much more muffled? And I think I'm feeling things quite a bit lower. I was getting a little anxious about the movements but I'm not sure if this actually counts as reduced, because I can tell she's still moving frequently. I also have an anterior placenta but was feeling quite strong movements before so not sure if that could be affecting things.

OP posts:
imtakingabath · 26/03/2019 16:06

@Kescilly I had been feeling like my baby's movements had been more lethargic recently, like not quite as strong and energetic, and was having the same debate about whether that counts as reduced movements.

Today and yesterday he's been more active though, so I feel reassured. I wondered if it could just be that as he's getting bigger, he has less room to move around, and that's why it feels different. Or it could be because he's shifted into a different position. It's difficult to know isn't it?
