June 2019 - Part 7!

Hi ladies! Picking names, packing hospital bags - third trimester here we come! Smile

I thought I'd start out with the stats this time and I'll post the updated name list in a bit. I've just included the data that I have, since a lot of people are missing bits (or quite possibly I've missed their posts). We come from all over, so I'll put that bit in another post later as well.

Our average age at estimated due date is 33! That should help some of us who are feeling older.

And that's not just because we're all second-timers! In fact, most of us are having our first baby this year.

Baby #1 - 31
Baby #2 - 26
Baby #3 - 9
Baby #4 - 1
Babies 1&2 together! - 1

Fifteen of us are expecting lovely little boys, nineteen of us are expecting darling little girls, and at least sixteen of us are waiting to be surprised!

The average due date is June 13th, and the most popular due date is June 24th. We don't have anyone expecting on the 15th, 23rd, 27th, or 30th as far as I can tell.

And if you happen to have a baby on my birthday (June 16th), your baby will be born on Father's Day this year!

Hi guys, hope you're all well.
No idea what to pack in my hospital bag. I leave work next week and have no driving test!
Got a horrible cold though, my head hurts so much.
Has anyone been feeling like they can't eat anymore? I can't manage a full meal and the last time I did I threw it all up... :(
37 weeks and counting.. xxx

Kescilly · 14/05/2019 09:53

@allfurcoatnoknickers I'm sorry you're feeling so rotten. When do you hit 39 weeks? Have you done any hypnobirthing or anything? I was dreading giving birth but I found that it helped with some of my anxiety.

@fee1234 congrats on making full-term!

@excitedmama we used the NHS hospital bag list, although it looks more like a multiple suitcase list.

@Kescilly I remember taking way too much for my first birth and getting told off for having a bag too big! 😂

Kescilly · 14/05/2019 10:52

You should have pointed them at the NHS list! It's so long!

@Kescilly I hit 39 weeks on the 4th and I'm so miserable and stressed out my doctor is inducing me on the 6th.

I haven't done hypnobirthing - I thought about it, then got overwhelmed by the options and that just made me more stressed. I have though, had a lot of therapy. Still scared. I've told my doctor her job is to get me so off my face on drugs that I do not know, or care what is happening.

hexagon01 · 14/05/2019 13:16

Does anyone have any thoughts/knowledge on genetic things with labour? As in, are we likely to labour like our mothers? I had my son at 41 weeks and while I know anything could happen, I strongly thought I was unlikely to go into labour before my due date this time (booking my section in next week hopefully for around 40 weeks). However, I was talking to my mam yesterday and it turns out that while she went over with my older sister similarly to my first labour, I was born early and very fast (2 hour labour) so now I'm a bit scared that this will happen to me too!

Torsz · 14/05/2019 13:55

We had our 38 week appt today (37+4) and they've booked a sweep for 40 weeks, she's now 4/5 engaged which is a start at least, but she's back to back so I'm currently wiggling on all fours 😂 strangely I have white blood cells in my urine but I had that last time too and my test results came back clear?!

rollerskaterdata · 14/05/2019 15:07

@allfurcoatnoknickers I said the same thing when pregnant with my DS and here I am at 37+5 with number 2 🙄 it sounds ridiculous but I'm so jealous of ladies with induction / c section dates because they have a solid end in sight. I'm so tired and uncomfortable and in pain all the time I could literally cry. I don't want to be pregnant anymore!!!!!!!! 😭

Reastie · 14/05/2019 15:35

Allfurcoat that’s the mental evil nature of hg, you just think things are improving then you have a bad day. At least you’re at the point of single digit weeks now. I have my comsultant section planning apt next week and I’m going to beg for the earliest date they can so I don’t have tomfeel sick anymore but I know I’ll get some point at 39 weeks if I’m lucky.

Hexagon I’m not sure about genetics but I think it can be a factor. Dm was included twice and had a section third time. Inductions were for pre eclampsia. Inductions were very quick. I had a due date induction and after five long days they gave me a section so no obvious similarities. Our pgs themselves were very different too although in build and physically we are very similar.

Just counting days here. 34+1. Mw later this week.

annihall · 14/05/2019 16:12

Just had my 36 week appointment, and it was the best one I've had so far. I don't dislike my usual midwife, but had a different one today and she took so much more time to explain everything and I got to listen to the heartbeat for the first time ever! :)
I was right in thinking that baby had moved down, she said head is definitely engaged now and that's the reason I'm achy and getting cramps down there - baby is clearly getting ready and I should make sure my bag is packed, even though it could still take a few weeks... but it could also happen sooner than I thought. Baby is slightly on the smaller side (25th percentile) but would most likely not have any problems if born now.
We're almost there ladies!! Smile

allfurcoatnoknickers · 14/05/2019 16:15

@Reastie It's like your own body is fucking with you. Angry I think this is why I'm so very apprehensive about giving birth, I've got no faith left in my body because it's actively been trying to kill me since October. Why do I have any reason to think birth will be fine when pregnancy has been so horrible.

Fingers crossed for you getting a c-section date.

@rollerskaterdata DH has been informed that a second isn't off the table yet (though there will be a massive age gap), but if anything goes wrong with the birth, he can forget about it.

annihall · 14/05/2019 16:16

@hexagon01 I have been told that we are likely to have similar births to our mothers, apparently there is a genetic factor... but then again we won't know for sure until it happens. Best to take things as they come, try not to worry about it too much. I'm sure however your birth turns out to be it'll be all fine in the end and it all won't matter once you hold your little baby in your arms x

Reastie · 14/05/2019 16:24

Allfurcoat at least you know labour will be over in a number of hours (worse case scenario, days) whereas pg has gone on for months. And you know once it’s over you get your body back to yourself!

swiftfox · 14/05/2019 16:41

Hello everyone! Thank you for your your lovely messages and wishes. Our lovely little boy is here! He was born yesterday at 35+5. Everything else is fine, but he had a bit of fluid in his lungs when he was born so he spent a few hours with the NICU staff but was transferred quickly to special baby unit. He dies have a bit of jaundice which is getting much better. The only thing killing me is that he has to be under those blue lights do we are in different wards and I don't get to hold him all the time Sad

The delivery itself was so much better than I'd feared. I was in latent labour from sat morning to early Monday morning. By Monday morning I was 3 centimetres dilated and in agony with constant contractions. Was taken to labour ward and because by then I'd been awake for three nights in a row, the staff warmly suggested that I have an epidural. It was so not in my birth plan, BUT I got one at 11am. My husband and I slept until 4pm through the contractions. I felt nothing. The staff monitored the contractions and baby via monitor outside, which meant we were alone, essentially sleeping and playing music and diffusing essential oils. From 4-5 I had some very manageable pain and by 5pm I was fully dilated. We waited another hour and a half with my pelvis open for the baby to drop more. The actually pushing part took twenty five minutes and was actually easier than I'd imagined. Every birth is of course different, and lots of stuff didn't go to plan at all, but at least my active labour was as easy at it could have been. And seeing someone place your baby on your chest is so incredible that nothing I've ever done compares to it. So all the FTMs, please try have less fear. My midwife was AMAZING and walked me through everything. I ended up with no stitches because they directed me so well. Those first few minutes with your baby - your life will never be the same again. And all the pregnancy aches will so fade into the background - I promise.

WeeBean · 14/05/2019 16:57
