Jxtina86 · 20/03/2019 18:53

Echoing others with another vote for the shorter dress!

Giraffe888 · 20/03/2019 19:10

Think it’s unanimous, the shorter one! You look great x

AIDE2424 · 20/03/2019 19:22

Just found the image from when I got my BFP and I just can’t quite believe I can now feel a baby girl wriggling away. All the stress and worries of pregnancy and she gives a little kick and the dissapear for a minute can’t wait to finally reach July ❤️

( I’m not one to been “soppy” usually but I’ve been a emotional wreck today 😂)

I love that @AIDE2424! I kind of wish I’d taken a photo but after previous MC I basically convinced myself it was going to happen again.

Giraffe888 · 20/03/2019 20:05

I like looking at the scan pic from when I was only 6 weeks to see how much he’s grown x

blueeyedviking · 20/03/2019 20:29

Another vote for the shorter blue dress. Its lovely!

Also, second what @regina said re the sale at Smith toys. It ends tomorrow, and loads of bargains. Just got our nursery chair from there, £30 save. One of our friends have it and it's sooo comfy. Smile

It's the first thing we've bought actually!

DianaBlythe · 20/03/2019 20:48

@Aide2424 and @Giraffe888 it’s mad isn’t it?! And it does seem to be going a lot faster now. Those first few weeks were soooo long!!

Giraffe888 · 20/03/2019 21:05

@blueeyedviking which chair have you got?

Trying2bemum · 20/03/2019 21:10

@thedust that sounds awful, hope the physio can help sort it

Thanks for the smythstoys link @ReginaPhalange89 hope you enjoyed your birthday celebrations

@AIDE2424 ahh I know how you feel! It's just amazing ☺️

I've come down with a bug, not sure what it is but I'm wiped out, have slept all day and my body is aching! Aching back and ribs. Feeling sick and no appetite and generally very sorry for myself! Not sure whether to call GP tomorrow - wouldn't usually bother but it feels different being pregnant

BeckyButterfly · 20/03/2019 21:32

That’s weird @Trying2bemum, I’ve been exactly the same today. Feeling very sorry for myself!

cravingmilkshake · 20/03/2019 21:39

I have a question from non first time mums.

I intend to try breastfeeding - but what if it doesn't work at the hospital? Shall I invest in some bottles for home just in case? If so which ones and what type or steriliser?

Sorry if this is naive 🙈

ReginaPhalange89 · 20/03/2019 21:47

@cravingmilkshake if you want to try breastfeeding I wouldn't necessarily buy bottles etc .

With my first baby I tried BF in the hospital but I just knew it wasn't for me (I was quite young at the time and not very confident) . The hospitals have little bottles of premade formula with tears so I was given those to use (and chose what brand of formula !) , They gave me a couple to take home with me as well to save me stressing out about the first few feeds once we were home.

I'm sure most hospitals do that , but if not you could always buy a couple of the ready made cartons just in case ? Then you'd have a few to do you while you sort out proper bottles. You can always sterilise bottles in boiling water as well .

ReginaPhalange89 · 20/03/2019 21:48

Teats* not tears 🙈

Chinks123 · 20/03/2019 21:49

@cravingmilkshake when I had dd the hospital supplied milk in ready made bottles. I’m told they no longer do this so I’m going to take a pack of the aptamil ready made ones for hospital. I was unable to bf last time, so I’ve bought a tommee tippee electric steriliser, and their anti colic bottles, in case I’m unable to again.

I know some people don’t rate TT but dd got on well with them so I’ve just bought the same for this baby to try.

HchyScott · 20/03/2019 21:53

@cravingmilkshake just double check with your midwife, I know for certain our hospital doesn’t provide formula at all and sends dads to the local Asda to buy the ready to use formula bottles!! I brought 6 to put in my hospital bag x

Trying2bemum · 20/03/2019 22:36

@BeckyButterfly oh no, it's horrible isn't it? Do you think you'll go to the doctor?

@cravingmilkshake I've been thinking the same thing. Would love to breastfeed but there's no guarantee it'll work. I might also go armed with some of these pre-loaded newborn formula bottles just in case too

BeckyButterfly · 21/03/2019 00:12

@Trying2bemum I’m seeing my midwife tomorrow so I was just going to chat to her about it. Like you say, I think it’s just normal germs and things but feels so much worse when pregnant.

FuzzyPixel · 21/03/2019 08:40

Just place marking until I'm able to update fully. Love a shiny new thread.☺

I feel quite guilty for not being able to keep up but everything is manic here, between the house and work there seems to be very little time to actually rest.

Hopefully I'll find some time to catch up this evening.

BeckyButterfly · 21/03/2019 08:56

Rant alert!

I’m getting really pissed off with work right now. I’ve had quite a few days off since January because of various things from picking up every germ going to migraines to actually needing to go in to the hospital because of pain. I understand that it is annoying for them to have to cover me without any notice but my head teacher and deputy head have been asking me for a couple of weeks to speak to the GP about getting a sick note to have a more extended period of time off work.
I don’t really want to do that, at least until after the Easter holidays, because when I’m not physically unwell there is no reason why I can’t be at work. In fact, I enjoy being at work. I suffer greatly with an anxiety disorder but I have actually managed to keep it in check quite well during pregnancy especially since I’m not taking my medication so I have been really proud of myself for that. I feel like being signed off on the sick would just make it worse because I’ll be sat around the house driving myself insane!

Sorry for the really long post. I just needed to rant. It’s really getting me down and I just don’t know what to do about it anymore. I’ve started to feel like maybe I should just do what they say. I didn’t sleep at all last night thinking about it.

Giraffe888 · 21/03/2019 09:10

@beckybutterfly that’s unfair and they’re wrong to do that! If you don’t feel you need to be signed off then don’t x

I’m hoping to breastfeed too. I’m unsure about taking some formula into hospital with me. I’m worried that if I do I’ll maybe give in on breastfeeding if I’m struggling. If that makes sense x

OneMoreWish · 21/03/2019 09:16

@cravingmilkshake when I had my first 16 months ago the hospital had pre made formula milk.

If I'm honest I was slightly disappointed but maybe for different reasons to your question.

I had gestation diabetes and a week or so before due date ( with guidance from consultant) I started to express the colostrum you get before milk comes through. I had read that it can really help stabilise babies sugars which can be a problem if you have GD. That morning I brought a frozen pack with me for after c section to be told the hospital didn't have a fridge for it, really disappointing start as it took agggeeess getting that colostrum out!!!

Being groggy after general anaesthetic I tried breast feeding but they advised to give baby some formula as hungry and I was half asleep. Fine I suppose but then for the three days I was in there they were forever trying to get me to let them give my baby formula milk - especially at night as I think it then made baby sleep more. I was disappointed as I knew the more the baby had bottles the harder it is to establish breastfeeding. I felt they tried to go for the easy answer rather than help me figure out how to breastfeed well ( positions to use , checking latch etc)

When I discharged I contacted bambis who were really helpful and I ended up breastfeeding for 14 months. So just wanted to share this experience with others - breastfeeding was hard to begin with but there is help out there if you do want to try and continue but you may not necessarily get it at the hospital (with a note obviously if you want to formula feed that's fine too x)

onestep2 · 21/03/2019 09:31

i cant belive ive missed at least an entire thread!!

@DianaBlythe i vote the shorter dress. its beautiful.

Bump touchers.... DH gran is the worst, every time she sees me. shes even made me unzip my jacket so she can caress bump. and its worse coz i STILL dont have much of a bump at 25 weeks.

EVERYONE keeps asking where my bump is and commenting how small i am and jokingly asking if im sure theres a baby in there. gettin right on my wick.

Chinks123 · 21/03/2019 09:42

Spoke to soon and had my first bump toucher yesterday, a colleague, came into work in the morning grabbed my belly and sort of jiggled it. She said “ooh hello baby” and wobbled me around..I wasn’t sure what to say Grin

My pram was delivered yesterday! I did put it up and have a play, but my Grandad’s very superstitious so I’ve packed it away again.
