My bump has dropped and gone back up a couple of times now. I’m having some reflexology tomorrow. I need to chill out!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 18/03/2019 19:05

@Daisy2990 that sounds horrific. Can you not launch a formal complaint? Glad baby is here and all is well.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 18/03/2019 19:06

@Gronk27 my bump has done the same. Very frustrating!

fanks · 18/03/2019 19:11

My bump is up and down like a yo yo I go from heart burn to intense pressure down below! Also killer nerve pain down one leg ouch!

@Daisy2990 that sounds horrific definitely complain

CaseofEllen · 18/03/2019 19:17

@Daisy2990 congratulations on baby's arrival! Sorry you had such a shitty experience Thanks

My bump is also up and down, very frustrating isn't it! Heartburn to pelvic pain in 30 seconds πŸ˜‚

Sorry for TMI but I had sex about an hour ago, been for a wee and had a little bleeding and some heavy period cramps! Hoping that this is going to lead somewhere but trying not to get too caught up 🀞🏼

Wineandchoccy · 18/03/2019 19:27

@Daisy2990 Congratulations but that sounds horrendous I would also complain

SquirtlesMumAgain · 18/03/2019 20:58

@daisy2990 sorry missed your post earlier. It sounds horrible, definitely complain.

It was a bit like that on the day I was discharged, was so glad not to be stuck there to experience it any more.
The midwife accused me of lying saying we'd met... Which was bull! She had walked through the room to my neighbour but that was it. I buzzed 3 times and she never bothered showing up even though I explained to the HCAs I wanted to find out what I needed to do to be able to go home!
Then she said that I couldn't go home because I was scared of cup feeding..... Well an HCA had watched DH cup feed DD and it wasn't I was scared but little madam wouldn't take it from me as I smelt too much like milk!

I was, and still am, fuming which just put a dampener on the rest of the care I had.

Sorry you had to go through it

Angelmiracle · 18/03/2019 23:40

@Daisy2990 congratulations on the birth of your new baby πŸ’

That is a disgrace how you were treated postnatally and should absolutely not be allowed to happen to any one!! Hope you're ok.

Thank you for the support guys @AssumeItWasSomethingClever @fanks @CaseofEllen @Wineandchoccy @SquirtlesMumAgain @AngelMiracle

I hadn't thought about complaining but perhaps should... normal midwife has booked me in for heel prick test at the docs today so I'll speak to her. I know hospital midwives have a heavy workload but tbh think my health was at risk at times.

I should add that baby girl is a bouncing 9lb 2, almost exactly the Same weight as her brother born 5 years ago. She's peaceful and calm, a little dream. So certainly cannot complain about the outcome :)

kee80 · 19/03/2019 06:28

Congratulations everyone who's had babies.
Well it's my due date today and booked in for c-section at 1pm 😬😬
So nervous and excited at the same time

Jenfur · 19/03/2019 06:30

@Daisy2990 bless you for having to go through that. Congratulations on your baby girl. Definitely look into making a complaint even if just for your peace of mind to help you process the situation a bit.

MistakenHoliday · 19/03/2019 07:18

@Daisy2990 congratulations! I agree with everyone, that sounds like an experience I'd complain about too. Jimmy's/LGI were my nearest hospitals but I'd heard so many stories of poor postnatal care than I went to Harrogate instead. I hope it's not ruined these first few days.

@SquirtlesMumAgain that sounds like such a frustrating experience, especially when you're already feeling vulnerable.

@kee80 good luck with the c-section!

Daisy2990 · 19/03/2019 07:28

@jenfur yes that's a good point, thank you
@MistakenHoliday completely agree, how was harrogate? I had my first at the LGI and it was horrible. Truly degrading... for a while I cried every time I went back there. Jimmy's was at least quieter, but standard of care quite similar.

MistakenHoliday · 19/03/2019 07:53

@Daisy2990 Harrogate was amazing - I've has both DDs there and both were really positive experiences. I think a lot of it is down to the fact it's so small so feels a bit more personal.

We didn't even end up in the postnatal ward this time - discharged straight from delivery - but the maximum beds in a bay is 6 so it's not so overwhelming.

I'm surprised that nothing seems to have changed in Leeds; it feels like it's been like this for years.

Wineandchoccy · 19/03/2019 08:16

Good luck @kee80

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 19/03/2019 09:44

Good luck @kee80. How exciting!

CaseofEllen · 19/03/2019 09:54

Good luck @kee80 Thanks

Angelmiracle · 19/03/2019 10:26

Best wishes for a smooth delivery @kee80 πŸ’

Good luck for your c-section. You are probably all prepped up now

I'm 40+4 today . Think I'm having a sweep tomorrow . Really anxious about it

SquirtlesMumAgain · 19/03/2019 13:11

Hope all has gone well @kee80

fanks · 19/03/2019 14:01

Hope your snuggling your new baby @kee80

Angelmiracle · 19/03/2019 14:16

@Jenlou1992 I didn't accept having mine done with DS at 40 weeks wasvery anxious that day. But did get it at 40+5 keen to avoid booked induction at 40+10 and went into labour next day. Go with your gut!

OP posts:
Gronk27 · 19/03/2019 15:02

@jenlou1992 not that I was offered in the end but I decided not to accept a 40 week one. Think I might have one on Thursday at 42+1 in the hope of avoiding induction or going over 42 and becoming β€˜high risk’. As Angel says go with your gut and how you feel. When I spoke to DH about it he says well that’s the I in BRAIN instinct!

Jenlou1992 · 19/03/2019 18:37

Thanks for the advice . The midwife said last time I seen her there is no pressure . Will see what I feel when I get there .

Hope everyone is doing well

Nightmanagerfan · 19/03/2019 21:41

Another apology for not having kept up with the thread. @daisy2990 congratulations on your new arrival - I hope you can put the poor postnatal ward experience behind you and enjoy your new addition. I’m so sad to hear women being treated so poorly though - definitely complain!

Congratulations to all those who have had their babies. For those of us still waiting here’s to tv and cake and lots of naps! I am 38+6 and while I think I lost some of my mucus plug today I don’t think I’m close, which suits me fine. I finished work on Friday and now am feeling very odd - wondering if I actually want a baby at all. I think it’s because it’s finally almost here and i know a massive change is coming. Has anyone else felt like this? I love feeling the baby and have enjoyed getting stuff ready at home, but just feel very odd now I’m off work.
