@Nightmanagerfan I completely understand what you mean. I'm 39 weeks today and have been off work for the past 3 weeks. Today was the first day I've been truly bored and second guessed myself as to whether I can see myself doing nothing for the next few years. I think it's just the waiting around...

My bump feels lower today and baby has been moving loads. DH also thinks that it's dropped slightly. Fingers crossed something starts soon. I'm going to the cinema tomorrow with my sister so guaranteed if baby's going to kick start things anytime soon, it'll be when we're there!

Sheeni · 19/03/2019 23:16

@nightmanagerfan I've been off for a month now. The boredom is real, mainly because I get tired easily, so can't really do much or go anywhere. I used to be so proud of myself never being bored, but now that I can't sit comfortably for more than few minutes and/or focus on anything, I admit, I'm bored out of my brain. And scared of the new regime under the little dictator that's coming (hopefully) soon. Definitely had a few occasions of "wtf have we done?!" But I'm hoping the change will be for the better in the end.

Jenlou1992 · 19/03/2019 23:33

You are not alone . I've only been off two weeks and wow it's really getting to me mentally . I have the same thoughts and feelings. Glad I'm not alone . It's more because I'm so big and heavy that I'm restricted in what I can do so it's like a prison sentence rather than just being able to enjoy free time

LovelyFishy · 20/03/2019 02:25

Congratulations on all the births - and here’s another one! Baby girl came rushing into the world on Friday, good thing we had a planned home birth as there wasn’t time to go anywhere else!

Angelmiracle · 20/03/2019 03:33

Congratulations @LovelyFishy on your new baby girl πŸ’— Glad your home birth worked out so well!

Congratulations @lovelyfishy!

With regards to the boredom - I think it is so hard, mixed with the anticipation, waiting for your little person to arrive. Hormones have changed a lot in the past 9 Months and life will be different, there is no denying it! The thing is that it is different for such a good reason (though I found days where it was hard to deal with).
There are the days that just make it all worth it!

Jenfur · 20/03/2019 06:56

@LovelyFishy congratulations! Hope you're both doing well.

I've been unemployed since December and can't walk for more than a few minutes due to SPD so completely sympathise with the boredom and how a few of you are feeling. Been losing plug since Monday and am expecting every little twinge to be the real deal because I'm so desperate to have this baby now. But sat there yesterday and suddenly thought "oh my god another baby, what am I going to do?!" Haha. I'm suddenly dreading labour and sleepless nights and constant visitors when you just want to sleep...

CaseofEllen · 20/03/2019 08:01

Morning everyone! 39+6 today, had some period type cramping overnight and bloody show this morning. Hoping things will progress for me 🀞🏼 hope everyone is doing okay. X

Congratulations @LovelyFishy so glad birth was what you wanted. X

Gronk27 · 20/03/2019 08:25

@nightmanagerfan I defo had a start of maternity leave wobble! Very strange time. I've been off ages now. When you start thinking baby could come at 37 week and you're now at 41 weeks! I'm trying to keep and busy AND relax.

@squirtlesmumagain so true, boredom and anticipation!!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 20/03/2019 08:25

@CaseofEllen sounds promising! Hope baby comes quickly for you 😊

SquirtlesMumAgain · 20/03/2019 09:38

Fingers crossed for you @caseofEllen!

MyMumDimensionJumps · 20/03/2019 09:46

Hi everyone. I have another birth here. After saying on these boards I was sure I'd go overdue, my little man came in to the world yesterday morning. 5hrs from first niggle and bloody show to birth. Was 5cm when I got to the hospital and had him 2 1/2hrs later.

Had a water birth with just gas and air in the last 45 mins. Very different experience from my speedy induction and forceps the first time around and was really pleased with the birth centre. Still quite sore despite no stitches though, but pleased baby is doing well.

Congrats lovely fishy and fingers crossed for you caseofellen, that sounds like how it started for me.

Angelmiracle · 20/03/2019 10:35

That's wonderful news @MyMumDimensionJumps congratulations on your new baby boy πŸ’™

I'm hoping second time will be a smoother birth too!!

Weird feelings sort of pains in vagina? Is it a sign or just a nice Wednesday treat?

Jenfur · 20/03/2019 11:20

@MyMumDimensionJumps congratulations! Glad it was such a good birth and nice and quick. That's my goal!

@CaseofEllen fingers crossed things are progressing for you.

@gronk27 I feel like I've had vagina pains for ages but have SPD so that might be the reason. Some days they come on worse or different to others (very...tender today) so not sure if it's just one of those glamorous things, body preparing itself etc.

Got my sweep booked today - has anyone got any stories of having a sweep when youve lost your plug already? Everything I've read online seems to be people losing plug after the sweep has been done, I was hoping for some positive tales or babies born the next day...?
I had one last time when I was in early labour which hurt like hell and baby was born the next morning but obviously that might have just been since things had already started anyway

CaseofEllen · 20/03/2019 11:41

Thanks for all the positive messages everyone. Contractions have started and are coming between every 30/45 minutes now so hoping they pick up. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow afternoon for 40 week check if nothing progresses. Does anyone know if she will do a sweep now that I've had a bloody show? @Jenfur did you lose plug or bloody show?

@Gronk27 I've had the 'fanny daggers' during pregnancy but last night when I was having period type pain I had odd pain in my vagina too. Like short little shocks almost. What do yours feel like?

Jenfur · 20/03/2019 11:53

@CaseofEllen what's the difference between plug and show? (Second timer showing some excellent experience!!) It was blood streaked and quite a lot first time then I've had bits basically every time I've been to the loo since that was more just mucusy but sometimes a bit bloody.

Glad your contractions have started, hoping they ramp up quickly for you!

CaseofEllen · 20/03/2019 11:56

@Jenfur I've lost bits of plug (without any blood) for a few weeks now. Just like a thick mucus. If it was bloody it's the show, I have the same questions as you about having the bloody mucus and a sweep tomorrow Hmm hoping someone can advise us Smile

Jenlou1992 · 20/03/2019 12:01

Just got back from midwife after an attempted sweep. I'm so disappointed . My cervix is still closed she said but she really had a good dig . It wasn't pleasant and I bled quite a bit. She said she could feel babys head . To monitor bleeding and if it doesn't settle to ring triage . Other than that she is going to ring me with an induction date some point today

Jenfur · 20/03/2019 12:11

@CaseofEllen I'll let you know how I get on later!

@Jenlou1992 sorry to hear that. Not good that you're bleeding and it was painful ☹️ Hope the bleeding stops and that the sweep somehow works even if cervix is closed

Nightmanagerfan · 20/03/2019 12:22

Thanks everyone - you’ve made me feel so much better and less alone in the wobbly stage of mat leave before baby!

@caseofellen here’s hoping this progress for you - exciting.

Gronk27 · 20/03/2019 12:30

@jenfur @caseofellen it doesn’t feel like fanny daggers but it is a bit shooty and achey. Hope things progress ok for you both. I’ll be having a sweep tomorrow, but nervous about it. Wishing things had started on their own, who knows maybe it will tonight.

Jenfur · 20/03/2019 16:19

Back from the midwife and had my sweep. Cervix favourable and 1-2cm dilated so fingers crossed I should go into labour before my induction on Monday. Sweep was definitely painful and unpleasant but no bleeding and not as bad as the one I had in early labour last time.

@Gronk27 pains could just be where baby's head is sitting uncomfortably, they seem to be good at that! Hope your sweep goes well and fingers crossed you go into labour before that anyway.

Gronk27 · 20/03/2019 16:22

@jenfur thanks! Good news your cervix is favourable!

CaseofEllen · 20/03/2019 16:51

@Jenfur good news about the sweep, midwife was happy to do it even though you had show already?
