@Gronk27 sounds good especially that frequency of contractions. You'll have your baby very soon!

Congratulations @sictransitgloria

Good luck @Gronk27

Jenfur · 25/03/2019 18:37

@sictransitgloria congratulations! Hope you're settling in well.

@Gronk27 good luck! Hopefully you're well under way now.

Good luck to everyone else who have been having stirrings, I'm reading this sporadically so haven't kept up with who's at what stage

Jenlou1992 · 25/03/2019 18:58

Anyone on here that's already had their baby who is breastfeeding have any tips that you wish you knew earlier or just any tips in general or any must haves that we should invest in that could make our journeys easier . Be good to hear of any . Xx

fanks · 25/03/2019 19:19

@Jenlou1992 just feed feed feed! Sit chill eat and feed, basically you can't offer breast too much in first few weeks just accept it and relax οΏΌ

Good luck everyone and massive congratulations @Sictransitgloria

I had a sweep on Sunday but no action, tbh they have never worked in the past for me either!

Wineandchoccy · 25/03/2019 19:20

@Jenlou1992 it’s hard work for the 1st 6 weeks or so but once established it is a lot easier.
You will be so hungry and thirsty so buy a decent water bottle and keep it filled next to you, buy lots of snacks that you can eat one handed I’m surviving on cereal bars, dried fruit, apples etc
Before you feed make sure you have tv remote, phone, snacks, drink, muslin etc next to you because you might be there a while.
Lansinoh or mam balm is great at soothing sore nipples.
Reusable breast pads - I have found bamboo ones from amazon or Asda ones really good.
Be prepared for cluster feeding in the evenings it’s normal just feels like there is no end when you are pinned to the sofa for hours.
And last of all If you can’t do it or decide you don’t want to you have not failed.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 25/03/2019 20:38

Tomorrow is my due date. I cannot believe how quickly it has come round! I still don't think that baby has plans to meet us any time soon and we might still be waiting a while. It's just hit home how close to the end of this pregnancy journey we are and how close we are to the start of an even more exciting one.

Nightmanagerfan · 25/03/2019 20:55

@assumeitwassomethingclever I can join you thinking it will be a while. My due date is Wednesday and no sign of baby yet! I’m planning an art gallery and nice lunch for my due date, are you doing anything special?

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 25/03/2019 21:18

@Nightmanagerfan Oohh I hadn't thought about celebrating it actually. Because it's a Tuesday, I might order in a Dominos Two for Tuesdays. πŸ˜‚ living the high life!
Love the idea of the art gallery. Enjoy!!

SquirtlesMumAgain · 25/03/2019 21:24

Definitely just go with it on bf and cluster feeding is normal!
Every 45 mins really doesn't mean there is a supply issue, that's just how your baby feeds.
Oh and take all the help you can get!

Nightmanagerfan · 25/03/2019 21:38

@assumeitwassomethingclever dominos sounds ace too! Whatever you fancy. I was listening to a radio programme about art earlier and suddenly the realisation that it wouldn’t be so easy to go to a gallery as often hit me, so decided to go on Wednesday as a treat!

Angelmiracle · 25/03/2019 22:07

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever @Nightmanagerfan celebrate due date I like it!! My sister wanted to arrange beauty treatments for both of us this week so I might suggest Friday to her and hope sods law I can't make it πŸ˜‚

I actually thought DS first birthday was the date I had been due with him, the 1st, as you are so fixated on it! He was infact born 7 days later 🀣 on the 8th.

Baby went from really low down to popping high up again, bum wedged in my ribs. Was looking after DN today so on my feet all day and baby's dropped this evening. Better stay that way!

Congrats sictransitgloria and Sheeni and best of luck Gronk27. Sounds like labour to me. Hope all goes well for you.

@nightmanagerfan definitely yes to planning something on your due date that you're really looking forward to. I've heard sods law is a good way of inducing labour. I actually had a curry the night before my labour started in the early hours. Not sure if it's linked but maybe throw some spicy food in there too if it's your thing. I must admit though, I was really worried about diarrhea during labour due to it, but thankfully it didn't make an appearance (unless OH is lying to me as he knows I'll be embarrassed).

Jenlou1992 the best breastfeeding advice I can give is expect cluster feeding and times where you will pretty much spend the entire day doing it. I've bought a wrap sling this time round and intend to try to feed while baby carrying so I don't feel imprisoned on the sofa like last time. I also BF my first for ages, and dare I say, longer than I really wanted to. He just didn't want to stop! OH found this quite challenging with me going back to work (I did 14hr shifts) as my son depended on the boob for comfort and to settle at night even after being on solids for a long time, so I'm going to try to limit the comfort suckling more this time. DS2 does seem to just detach when he's had enough though, whereas my DS1 didn't detach until he was fast asleep. I also second having snacks/drinks/entertainment close to hand too.

HidCat · 26/03/2019 12:35

@Sictransitgloria congratulations! Hope you and Franklin are doing well.

Jenlou1992 · 26/03/2019 19:15

Thanks everyone for taking time to give me some advice . Tomorrow is my appt for induction . Going to have the scan be examined and make my decision from there . I'll be 12 over due and altho I am so ready to have this baby out I really don't want to be induced . Fingers crossed all is well

Angelmiracle · 26/03/2019 20:24

@Jenlou1992 good luck with tomorrow's appointment 🀞

OP posts:
AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 26/03/2019 20:25

Good luck @Jenlou1992 hope your scan and examination go well.

I've been having cramps on and off all day today and a few cases of the old "fanny daggers". Not sure if it's because it's my due date, I'm looking out for things or if it could be the (very slow) start of something.

Jenlou1992 · 26/03/2019 22:06

So felt a bit off tonight . Just been toilet and started losing my plug . How typical I start showing some signs of progression the day before I get induced .

Angelmiracle · 26/03/2019 23:33

Always the way @Jenlou1992 could you get a sweep instead and see if it kicks things off if your plugs going?

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever it does sound like a start of things for you. I was really nauseous this morning thought I might start being sick but it passed in the afternoon. Baby's been extra active last night and today. Bopping down low then back up high in my ribs again πŸ˜• Had lots of pressure this evening it was very uncomfortable so I thought it was the start of it. But now tailed off. DTD tonight to see if it'll help Hmm

How are you @CaseofEllen?

Hello Gang,

Little girl born at 11.44 26th March. Quite the marathon and ended up with assured delivery with spinal and forceps but actually such a relief in the end. She is beautiful and we need to name her but both absolutely exhausted. I’m on the ward and DH has gone home.
