New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

@ReginaPhalange89 I did jumps, walked around, drank a fizzy drink, ate a twix, rolled for like 15mins whilst they scanned someone else - nothing! Such a tinker. I've booked a morning scan in the hope of catching it out!

BeckyButterfly · 07/03/2019 21:23

Sorry to hear that some of you didn’t have much success at 20 week scans, little tinkers already!

I went to Mothercare to order my pram after work today but they couldn’t order it (it’s such a useless shop) because parts of the bundle were out of stock in the warehouse. They couldn’t tell me when it would be in stock and said if I put my email address on the system it would email when the two things came into stock. I then pointed out that there’s the possibility other things could be out of stock by then. It was such a farce! Thankfully, a very nice manager came to the rescue. She took my phone number and said she would ring me when everything was in stock from the bundle and would give me a 10% discount for my trouble. I’m pleased I went so early though because I wouldn’t like to have been on a time limit with all this back and forth!

Giraffe888 · 07/03/2019 21:41

I’ve got my 20wk scan tomorrow but not until 5pm. Hoping he plays ball! I never feel him around that time of day! X

wombatron · 07/03/2019 22:46

@Giraffe888 I don't feel mine at 5pm either which is when my app was. Should have known really. Oh but it's wide awake now! Little monkey!!!

StargazyDrifter · 08/03/2019 00:28

Enjoying the belly button updates, Toria! Mine was similarly deep once and has now gone sort of multi-layered, like a scrunched up sock. Ew.

I don't think you need a birthing partner unless you can get someone useful/that you really want. And there will be midwives and such there for you. Do whatever helps you focus on you and the twins.

I got my MatB form 2 weeks ago - walked up to the receptionist at the hospital's MW clinic and asked for it while there for something else. The receptionist got a random MW and it was all done in 30 seconds. They just write your details in and do a stamp. I was expecting something more substantial!

Not yet had the pleasure of heartburn but have got PGP and still no refreal (my fault for not chasing). Also back to feeling v sticky today for no reason. 🤢

How annoying about the pram! BeckyButtefly. Good that you're starting in good time. DH was just saying we should get on with buying stuff too.

I was in a meeting with another pregnant woman today and her belly did a mega wobble at one point, from a big kick. It was very cute to watch.

If only I could sleep! 🙄

cocodash · 08/03/2019 02:51

Anyone else's DH snore???? Arggghhhhhh

Chinks123 · 08/03/2019 11:22

Heartburn has calmed down for now thank god. Dd was also born with loads of really dark thick hair so maybe he will be too. We are just on our final “babymoon.” 19 weeks today and I feel huge! At the airport I was asked by a nervous looking man “im really really sorry but I can see you’re pregnant.” He was double checking I wasn’t in my third trimester! Grin

Baby is enjoying the break and is kicking like mad. I am finding walking hard but dp is taking advantage of naps! I’m laid here awake and he’s snoring away. So yes @cocodash he does. I roll him over.

cocodash · 08/03/2019 12:15

@chinks123 ohh wee babymoon sounds fab!

aww i do roll DH over but within 45 mins hes back on his back snoring!! last few nights ive been woke up that often ive went and slept in the spare room! just good practise for when baby arrives i suppose

what is everyones weekend plans? i have an engagement party tomorrow, having outfit meltdown... not quite big enough for maternity but not quite small enough for normal dresses.

OneMoreWish · 08/03/2019 13:48

21 weeks tomorrow and I'm sitting here with my son asleep on my lap and I've just felt half a dozen or so somersaults from baby in tummy. First definitive -no mistaking it- movement from baby and I'm overjoyed and relieved.

Dad's surprise 60th party tonight I got a black maternity dress with lace arms for £12 from JoJo mama and just enough of a bump to show off and not look just fat lol

FuzzyPixel · 08/03/2019 14:05

All sounds lovely. Sounds like a great dress @OneMoreWish, I need to find a nice dress for a similar occasion in a couple of weeks!

@cocodash Thanks for asking about weekend plans. Smile. Mine are a little in jeopardy at the moment - I have an injured dog, but me and DH are supposed to be heading away for the night tomorrow. Lovely dog may need an x-ray next week, and needs to rest - I trust our boarder, but I think he'd probably rest a little more at home. DH is willing to stay home, but has announced that he upgraded our lovely hotel room to a suite as a bit of a treat (it's not like we're going to be painting the town red so a nice room to enjoy sounded like a great idea...). We're just torn about whether or not he'll rest enough at the boarders to prevent further injury.

Engagement party sounds lovely, but I know what you mean - it can be so tough to find an outfit.

The price drew me in - at first they were out of stock in my size but I kept checking and they got more stock xx

reeny19 · 08/03/2019 17:58

Not posted in a while - this thread moves too fast for me!

20 week scan today and we’re having a boy 😊 all good, no abnormalities detected. Feeling very pleased!

TwinkleDay · 08/03/2019 18:51

Hi all,

I have had a really tough week, so exhausted with these full weeks at work - in development still, anyone find they keep missing things even though they were written down in front of them? I finally cracked yesterday and had a massive breakdown being upset and frustrated at myself for not picking it all up and making mistakes. Told my line manager they are going to try and help but they haven't had a baby before so it's hard to get it across to them just keep saying 'well yes I suppose it's hard when your growing another person' I'm just soo tired working mon-fri been on my feet a lot this week and last night actually fell asleep in the bath!!! Baby fred/ricka has been going mad in there the more stressed and upset I am too :(

TwinkleDay · 08/03/2019 18:52

Also I should be risk assessed on a monthly basis and I haven't had one.. yet am in my 6th month of pregnancy... so many hormones...

Giraffe888 · 08/03/2019 22:11

All ok at 20 week scan. Was amazing to see everything so clearly and the sonographer went into so much detail, we loved it!

My placenta is covering the cervix so I’ve got to have another scan at 32 weeks to see if it’s moved. Anyone any experience with this? X

BeckyButterfly · 09/03/2019 00:01

I’m still jealous of everyone feeling movement! Still nothing going on in there that I can actually feel. I saw her dancing around during my scan but couldn’t actually feel a thing. The midwife did say as she was doing my scan that my placenta was at the front but she said it very flippantly so I didn’t think that meant it was the same as some of you ladies who’ve been told you won’t feel as much due to the position of your placenta. I mentioned my worries about the lack of movement to the consultant though after my scan and he said it could still be a month until I feel anything. So they don’t seem at all worried!

Yukka · 09/03/2019 07:32

@giraffe888 that’s placenta previa where it covers the cervix so if it doesn’t move you’ll be in for a c-section... my sister had it. But often it will move by 32 weeks. If it’s nit then they’ll scan again up until about 36/37 w and make a decision from there. It’s not harmful to you or baby x

So nice to see scan updates! I’m slowly catching you up, 20w tomo, scan on Thursday. Can’t wait!! Had a lot more movements this weeks, evenings tend to be his/her favourite time of day x

Yukka · 09/03/2019 07:36

@twinkledsy sorry you’ve had a tough week. Have you spoken to midwife about the extra appointments? Let her know your concerns. Can you rest this weekend? My memory has been bad for about 2 weeks but let them help you and try not to worry, the most important thing right now is you and your baby xxx

blueeyedviking · 09/03/2019 08:53

@TwinkleDay I know exactly how you feel. Up until a week ago I was working every day (inc weekends) finished up a project. No support, no risk assessment, no understanding of how pregnancy affects it all and generally it feels really lonely. I'm so sorry you have to go through all of that as well.

I work in a very male dominated industry, especially the more senior you get. Do you have any females you can speak to? Can you write down a list of your current priorities and ask them to choose?

What helped me was country walks, talking to a peer when down, writing post it's + to do lists, start emails with the topic so I don't forget etc. I also had a bath every other day to calm down and downloaded headspace. I was still super stressed and frustrated, and of course exhausted, but at least I felt I was doing something about it.

OneMoreWish · 09/03/2019 09:16

@Giraffe888 I've got it too- I found out as I had a red bleed at 14 weeks. They think because it was right over he entrance blood coming straight out when baby was giving it a hefty kick. I've had three more red bleeds and quite a bit of brown blood too.

At my 20 week scan it's moved but still very close so I'll have another scan after 30 weeks.

I was already planning a c section so doesn't change my plans luckily as I've seen some women on other thread get sad or stress that their birth plan might change.

For The majority of the pregnant women apparently it will move though as the bottom of the uterus expands the placenta rises with it.

Someone mentioned it's safe for mum and baby but I have been told if you have it still at later date you may have c section sooner than planned ( not around due date ) as Brackton hicks/ start of long labour can contract uterus and placenta can come away from wall which is then dangerous . It's not very common but just wanted to repeat what I've been told xxx

stephn88 · 09/03/2019 09:24

Is anyone finding they get numb hands at night, it's extremely painful....? Not sure if I should call my midwife for advice.

TwinkleDay · 09/03/2019 09:27

@blueeyedviking @Yukka it's awful isnt it. I work with 80% females but this one report into has had a rocket up her arse since the -restructuring- which by the way still hasn't been confirmed wether we have positions or not, everyone is busting a gut and it could be for nothing.

I have my next appointment with midwife on 27th March..: will be almost 27 weeks by then and I haven't been weighed or seen midwife since 14 weeks scan x

Kentishgal · 09/03/2019 09:33

stephn88 - I had carpal tunnel syndrome last time and that's exactly how I would describe it - numbness and pain that kept me awake at night. I was referred for physio and they gave me splints to wear on my wrists. I think mine started at about 6 months and I'm sorry to say it got worse but it does mostly go once you give birth and luckily for me that was the case (otherwise you can have a small op) - think it's caused by fluid retention compressing the nerve or something. See if midwife can refer you?

stephn88 · 09/03/2019 09:35

@Kentishgal It's keeping me up most of the night, the pain is ridiculous! Think I'll give them a call now and see if they can do anything, don't want to go another 18 weeks like this.... thanks for the info xx

Kentishgal · 09/03/2019 09:42

stephn88 if you Google "carpal tunnel pregnancy" there's a good baby centre article (I'm sorry I can't seem to post a link!). Although I have none of the risk factors so not sure how I managed to get it - it says you're more likely to get it in later pregnancies too...fingers crossed (if you pardon the expression).
