New thread!

Sorry, don't know if someone else was planning to do this. Just noticed how close we were to being cut off on the last thread.

@Kentishgal, I don’t think they often change them at the 20wk scan due to babies starting to develop their own growth. My last pregnancy, I knew the edd they gave me was definitely wrong as it meant I had a positive test 5 days post conception...and my scans following the 12week one did correspond to (and more) with my own dates but it was just kept as it was... it was scary because I had a labour scare at 23+3 and my hospital was refusing to even intervene as their policy is 24weeks, I KNEW though I was actually 24+1. Luckily she held on until 30+4 when I was admitted again.

StargazyDrifter · 25/02/2019 13:42

I have irregular cycles because of PCOS and it's far from clear what actually happened and when. We were actively TTC so hard to pinpoint. Neither scan moved my dates, though they were adjusted around 9 weeks by EPU. Also less worried because of ELCS, but the 24 week point is very interesting - thank you for mentioning it. 😊

Regina I really liked these pod bags when we went round JL yesterday.

ReginaPhalange89 · 25/02/2019 14:25

Wow @StargazyDrifter those are super expensive ! Lol. I reckon mine will be a £20 Amazon / eBay buy 3rd time round 😂

StargazyDrifter · 25/02/2019 14:57

Yes, but you can get these second hand too!

Kentishgal · 25/02/2019 15:00

That is interesting re the 24 week point, and must have been extremely worrying for you - have yours all been early? I've never seen those pacapod bags - they look really handy but they didn't have them in my JL (it's not v big) - I went in there and bought a storksak bag because I can wear it as a backback as well and I figured I might do that more this time as I plan on using the carrier more this time as it might be easier with a 3 yr old as well.

Beckanne90 · 25/02/2019 15:18

@Kentishgal, no; I had 42,40,38,34 and 31 weeker in that exact order, so whilst not all early, they got earlier each time. The last 3 were about 6/7 weeks of labour symptoms before they was actually born. I don’t know what to expect this time, this will be my biggest gap so far so I’m wondering if that will make a difference to things.

LavenderBelle · 25/02/2019 16:20

LO has been moving like crazy today. He loves being in the bath, as soon as I get in he starts rolling around. So excited to meet him

RooKangaroo · 25/02/2019 16:41

@Beckanne90, I'm being encouraged to have a VBAC this time. I'm really nervous about it, but trying to be open to options and I've said I'm happy to go to appts and listen to what they have to say. If I knew it would be a straightforward natural delivery, that would be fine, but my worst fear is it ending up like last time (induction, getting to fully dilated, 90 minutes of pushing while telling the midwife nothing was happening and her disagreeing, then EMCS for face presentation). I'm still undecided. What are you thinking?

@StargazyDrifter, I don't recommend the Pacapod backpacks! (Don't know which kind you're looking at). I had one last time and it was so pretty and smart, and I loved it. But they're weak as anything and didn't last five minutes. The buckle broke quickly and after about two weeks it looked ten years old and scruffy. I was so disappointed. They sent me a new one, but I just knew it wouldn't last so didn't bother using it.

Had our 20-week scan today and all was well - cannot tell you how relieved I am. I feel like a weight has been lifted (though in reality I'm obviously heavier than I've been in ages....).

We found out we're having another girl. I knew I'd be happy either way, but I'll be honest and say I love the easy logistics of using all the same clothes!

Good luck for those with upcoming scans!

@RooKangaroo, I massively went in thinking I wanted a VBAC, as I’ve had 4 VB the first 4x and although recovery with my first VB was abit harsh it wasn’t as bad as recovery with my EMCS so I was thinking yeah it’s all great I’ll go for it. But, today I’ve been reading horror stories after reading a thread in the childbirth section here because I then googled. I’m quite high risk anyhow for multiple things so now my head is in horror mode 😂 I don’t see my consultant for another 8 weeks either. Lovely news on your scan too, congratulations on your little girl.

RooKangaroo · 25/02/2019 17:03

Thank you @Beckanne90 :)

I feel both nervous and intrigued now.... wondering if I should check out the childbirth threads.... Grin It's hard to stay away from things like that, and they do say it's better to be armed with the knowledge.....

I'm also high risk for a blood disorder. Hmmmm..... I'll see how this goes....

I had a pacapod bag with ds but I honestly wouldn't recommend it. The idea is great but as soon as the pods were full it was impossible to get anything else in the main body of the bag. I now have a skiphop backpack and it's much better (and easier to carry when wrangling a wriggling baby/carrying the carseat in and out of places/wearing a sling or carrier)

Beckanne90 · 25/02/2019 17:35

@RooKangaroo, I think there was only one alarming post on the thread but of course following my googling there was quite a few. I was already aware of the certain risk but was told it was really rare, but reading today has put it as 1 in 200, it doesn’t sound that low risk when it’s put like that. But I think i only feel like that because I had an apparently rare complication last time which lead to the EMCS so I guess that’s what makes the chances feel higher to me. Decisions decisions it’s hard to decide isn’t it?

Giraffe888 · 25/02/2019 18:18

Congratulations @RooKangaroo!

I’m away with work for 2 days for a training course. We’ve been sat down all day and I can’t explain how much pain I’m in with my back 🙁 Didn't want to say anything during the day as don’t want to look like I’m moaning

ReginaPhalange89 · 25/02/2019 18:23

Awww congratulations on the girly news @RooKangaroo!

TwinkleDay · 25/02/2019 19:49

@RooKangaroo congratulations

Managed to get all the measurements needed today which Is good.. I still needed to wee and dance to get them to move.. a full 360 into the same awkward position the their way round! Silly baby.. didn't get a photo but did a sketch which is to scan head and torso anyway... lady said baby will be a contortionist!

I managed to get my matb1 form but had to ask and didn't get to see a midwife.. crackers I haven't been weighed since 12 weeks and still got another month to wait until next appointment !

TwinkleDay · 25/02/2019 19:50

Thanks all!

Yay, @TwinkleDay, so pleased it went well. Love the drawing 😆

Ah, @Giraffe888, that sounds tough, I'm so sorry. Will it be the same again tomorrow? Can you use your coat as a pillow, or would you need a more drastic alternative?

@RooKangaroo Congratulations on your little girl

BeckyButterfly · 25/02/2019 20:07

Congratulations on scans everyone!

@ReginaPhalange89 I still have a week to wait for my scan too 😩

I’m winding myself up something rotten at the minute worrying about everything! I just need my 20 week scan to come round so I can see her and know that everything is okay. I just feel like I should be able to feel something. I don’t feel sick or anything anymore and still don’t feel any movement so I basically just feel like I’m really bloated! I spoke to my boss to let her know I’m really struggling and she was very nice and supportive which was lovely.

Trying2bemum · 25/02/2019 20:14

Glad to hear scans going well 😊

Mine is next week and really eager for it. Fluttery movements have all but stopped in the last few days and it's got me worrying - especially in the night.

Hopefully everything okay and it's just too early to have regular movement.

Insomnia still doing me in...

BeckyButterfly · 25/02/2019 20:19

@Trying2bemum I feel your pain. I just want to feel something to know that everything is okay in there.

I keep wondering if I’m just not noticing it because I don’t know what I’m supposed to be feeling but people have said it should be like butterflies or bubbles popping and I’ve definitely not felt anything like that.

FuzzyPixel · 25/02/2019 20:55

Another one here with the 20 weeks scan next week. Anxious, but trying to remain hopeful.

I really appreciate hearing the feedback about the changing bags. It's always good to know what to go for and what to avoid.

RooKangaroo · 25/02/2019 21:01

@FuzzyPixel, the best advice I ever got about changing bags is to just find a bag you really like, and use that.

Maybe think about things like whether it's durable, and if you want compartments or lots of open space, but it's really just your preference. Plus 'normal' bags are way cheaper than bags marketed as 'changing bags'.

We’ve just ordered the next to me crib. So excited for that to come. All starting to feel a bit real now that I’m over the half way mark

Giraffe888 · 25/02/2019 21:34

@rookangaroo tomorrow will be the same 🙁 I used my scarf to wedge in my back but it didn’t help! Looking forward to a day off on Wednesday! X
