Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

@StargazyDrifter Oh thats quite funny Grin but yeah, i cant face the idea of being sick again but think ill forget that once the little one is here.

@capybaras Our 20 week scan is in 10 days so im starting to think about that too. I assume that a bit of anxiety will appear before every scan, at least for me!

FuzzyPixel · 10/02/2019 16:00

@StargazyDrifter I know what you mean about the sickness and wondering if you could do it again. I've only very recently reduced sickness levels from being sick 4 or 5 times a day, to being sick two or three times a week. It's not easy. My DH had surgery to enable us to have children (he had a zero sperm count due to complications as a child), luckily the surgery was successful. However, there's a chance that the surgery won't last, so if we do want a second child we may have to act rather quickly after this one. I often wonder if I could face the sickness again - especially if I'm already looking after a baby, and then try and remind myself that it will be a different pregnancy.

Interested to know why your DH thinks iCandy is for 'idiots'. We're still pram shopping! We initially liked a Silver Cross Wave, and the Egg, but have since ruled them out.

Congratulations to all the new sex reveals! Very exciting times.

DH and I went shopping today and we bought a few bits from the little bird range by Jools Oliver. The baby spreadsheet is slowly growing.

Capybaras · 10/02/2019 16:20

Congratulations @cravingmilkshake !

I've been looking at the bugaboo fox - all being well at the 20 week scan we'll go pram shopping. My best friend has an icandy peach and doesn't love it so that's put me off them a bit, but I know it's such a personal thing!

BeckyButterfly · 10/02/2019 16:25

@BirthdayKake me and the hubby have had our names picked out for ages too!

I’ll be sticking around in this group rather than FB.

I still have aaaages until my 20 week scan (not till the 5th of March) but I did have the scan earlier this week so I’ve had that little bit of reassurance.

The past couple of days I’ve had a few niggly, funny twinges and things in the tummy region but not sure if it’s jsut wind or general aches and pains. I’m only 16+4 with my first so I’ve still got a little while before the time when they say you should start to feel something.

Me and the hubby have decided on the Oyster 3 for our pram, just holding off for a while before we buy it. I agree about the iCandy (not necessarily the idiots part..!) I do think that it is very expensive for what it is and when I looked at it in the shop I thought it was really bulky! I can’t see those wheels fitting into a lot of smaller car boots. Each to their own though, it is whatever works for your lifestyle and maybe they are really good for off-roading 😂

StargazyDrifter · 10/02/2019 17:03

On the iCandy I think that was mostly a tipsy rant, and it didn't occur to me to ask for an explanation then, I just wanted to go back to sleep! His more sober assessment is that it's v expensive for what it is and he's looked up some stuff on which? that suggests it's not all that. Plus I think he took against all the celebrities having it. That said, I've no idea if that's even right, I'm not very good on celebrities.

We also have a Silvercross on our shortlist FuzzyPixel, but the Wayfarer one. Waiting to test it out along with some others (forgotten the names, definitely Bugaboo Bee, and the UppaBaby and Joiee maybe?) at the John Lewis nursery appt and Baby Show.

FuzzyPixel I'm completely with you on thinking about the next baby already and the sickness point. We'd ideally want to get on with it quite quickly, if at all. That in itself is daunting! But then there's the new advice to wait a year, I think? All a bit too much to contemplate, but at least the DHs are on board.

Regarding movement, Friday night dead on 19 weeks I was woken up by the strangest sensation in my tummy, a pain right up in my cervix which lasted maybe 2 seconds then all my tummy felt strange, like all of a sudden I was aware of all my abs and where my uterus was, it didn’t hurt at all but was just abit tight. Scared myself silly so googled it and it seemed it would be fine.
Yesterday my tummy had really popped and was rock solid in the centre so I imagined there must’ve been some almighty shift or something the night before.
Then last night after earting lasagne and having 3 hours of Ibs attack, I was just reading in bed trying to relax with my hand on my tummy when baby started some crazy gymnastics and I could feel it on my hand on my belly too!! Quickly woke up DH to see if he could feel it and he did ❤️ So cute he even fell asleep with his hand on my tummy lol! So I take it all is well in there with little bean!

HchyScott · 10/02/2019 17:09

On prams we found I candy incredibly bulky and heavy and silvercross to bulky too. Think it’ll be oyster 3 for us but going to check out the mammas and papas flip it or whatever it’s called next Friday after scan but I dont think we can afford it if we like it anyway

StargazyDrifter · 10/02/2019 17:19

HchyScott that's so lovely about the movements! 😍

StargazyDrifter · 10/02/2019 17:22

I saw the Flip one on the Tube the other day and it looked great, btw! Just seemed to be in proportion and very easy to move in an awkward space.

ReginaPhalange89 · 10/02/2019 17:25

Ah I've been thinking about getting a second hand icandy double pram so I'm sad to see some of you not rating it ! It's one of the only doubles I like aesthetically, most of them are uuuugly 🙈

Capybaras · 10/02/2019 17:35

That's amazing @HchyScott - sorry can't remember but is this your first? I didn't realised you'd potentially be able to feel baby externally so early!

Capybaras · 10/02/2019 17:36

*hadn't

HchyScott · 10/02/2019 17:53

@Capybaras yes it is my first, I honestly thought it would be weeks before DH could feel anything but I think whatever happened on Friday night has moved baby forward?! Maybe? It definitely wasn’t wind or anything as I was definitely on empty after the Ibs attack lol! It’s so weird!

FuzzyPixel · 10/02/2019 17:53

@StargazyDrifter, yes definitely pleased that DH is on board for a second. Smile

@ReginaPhalange89, we've spent a good while testing lots of different prams, although we're still looking I genuinely believe it's all personal preference.

Me and my DH are both over 5'10 (and we both were long babies), so the Oyster 3 didn't really work for us - I really need to get measurements for all of the carry cots though. The Egg was similar. We both looked at them and thought that a long baby wouldn't last very long in the carrycot units. Also, the seat unit for the Oyster 3 has a really odd lift off point.

The Silver Cross Wave was our favourite Silver Cross because it's able to tandem, but it was bulky. It seemed smooth to push though and it's still on our 'potential' list. Really random thought for us, but I feel quite sentimentally attached to a Silver Cross; my Nan had a coach-built Silver Cross with my Mum, and my Mum had a Silver Cross with me - there's something really nice about that. They've been around for years and years - they must be doing something right.

Weirdly, we looked at a Bugaboo, but one the one we looked at the handle covering doesn't extend as far as the other handle coverings on other prams, so you almost end up holding the chassis rather than the covered handle depending on how you steer the pram. Quite cold in Winter!

We didn't think the iCandy was that bulky compared to some others. I quite like the height extenders for it (again, we're quite tall, so mega useful compared to some of the others with lower seats). We both walk the dogs too, so going on different terrains is quite key for us, and it felt like the suspension would be up to that. DH didn't think the iCandy was too heavy when folded. They are expensive, but I also think they tend to have a high resale value compared to some of the others. The fact that it can double up was a big selling point for us. There's a shop my DH hates with a passion, but I love, so as a joke, we were testing out the 'turning circles' in narrow aisles - as if my DH was escaping from the hated shop; we found that the iCandy had a very small turning circle which was lovely. It, for us, was a very smooth ride.

The Mamas & Papas staff put me off the Ocarro which is another tandem pram, because they said it was a one hand fold, but kept demonstrating the fold with two hands. Confused It made me feel like they didn't really know, or couldn't really demonstrate, their products properly.

I think for us, we're happy to pay the price for a good pram - as long as it works for our lifestyle. It is definitely all personal preference though, so I think the best thing to do is to go into a shop and have a bit of a play!

FuzzyPixel · 10/02/2019 17:54

Oh! forgot to add, the thing my DH and I dislike most about the iCandy, is the name. It just doesn't sound great!

StargazyDrifter · 10/02/2019 18:29

Yes we were also wondering about some of the pram names. How on earth do they come up with them!

FuzzyPixel · 10/02/2019 18:32

StargazyDrifter I honest have no idea, I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for some of the branding meetings - especially to see which names didn't make it! Grin

HchyScott · 10/02/2019 18:43

We were going to drive a while away to view the ickle bubba stomp v4 but I’ve just decided I can’t own something with that name even if it saves me a couple of hundred pounds lol

BeckyButterfly · 10/02/2019 19:07

@HchyScott that made me chuckle! If it helps, I’ve been to see it and, although it is nice, it definitely looks and feels cheaper than any of the others we looked at.

ReginaPhalange89 · 10/02/2019 19:10

Has anyone ever seen /had an isafe?

BeckyButterfly · 10/02/2019 19:11

Also, it is interesting reading what different people’s focuses are when looking at prams. My husband basically decided on the Oyster 3 as soon as he found it you could fold it with the seat on which ended up being a focus of ours when looking. You have to find something to narrow it down!

HchyScott · 10/02/2019 19:14

@BeckyButterfly thank you that is really helpful, we guessed that might be the case for the price, I think we can safely tick it off the potential list now! Me and my 3 best friends went to a baby show today which was abit crap but we were pram spotting all day and my friends pointed out one and said how nice it was and it was the oyster and seeing someone actually using it around other prams made me like it even more!

BeckyButterfly · 10/02/2019 19:24

@HchyScott yeah, I really like the Oyster. The Ickle Bubba V4 was my favourite before looking at them but when I saw it I realised it was only really the price that was a draw. Oh and it is very light to be fair which is a good thing but it definitely wasn’t a patch on the Oyster for me. Are you thinking of getting a whole travel system?

StargazyDrifter · 10/02/2019 19:51

HchyScott DH refused to even look at the Ickle Bubba because of the name! I agree it's really silly. Glad we're not missing much there.

DH just asked if people ever get mugged for expensive prams, like they might for an iPhone or a handbag, or even an expensive breed puppy? I've never heard of that, has anyone else? I think he's over-thinking it. We do know someone who's had their iCandy stolen, but that was more of an opportunistic thing because it was left in a communal lobby.

Our main criteria for narrowing stuff down is whether it's both in and out facing, whether it's easy to fold and whether it's niblme enough for central London. We were going to add the whole whether it'd convert into a dual pram thing, but given it's taken us 2+ years to get this far TTC it seemed a bit far off.
