Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

That's not very helpful - I had it a bit at end of last pregnancy and trying to remember what they said. I think said try and keep legs together as you get out of car and bed - that's the only thing I can remember! I'm sure there has to be some more advice and help out there though as you have got quite a few months to go yet! Hopefully someone else might remember some other advice xxxx

Kentishgal · 30/01/2019 10:24

Thank you both - that's what I thought - but I didn't get it in my last pregnancy (only aches and pains when I went overdue and that's understandable) so wasn't sure what to expect - but logically I would have thought, the bigger I get, the more painful it will get. I might mention it to the gp and see if I can get a referral privately if not. Last time, we lived in Somerset and I had amazing midwives - they had so much time and nothing was too much trouble, but we moved at 34 weeks and unfortunately the ones here just aren't v nice (there are two and I avoided the other one as I already knew she wasn't great). I'm seeing the consultant for some appointments so hopefully I won't be entirely reliant on them!

Capybaras · 30/01/2019 11:47

Just had my 16 week appointment and got to hear the baby's heartbeat too which was so nice. Thought this may happen so my OH came too! Midwife warned us that they're not supposed to let you listen at this stage as they can't always find the heartbeat this early and if they don't they can't refer you for further tests. We were really lucky though! Midwife also said my uterus was measuring bigger than the 17 weeks I am so wondering if that means I'll have a big baby?
Glad you've got an answer for the bleeding @Onestep2 must be such a relief!

Capybaras · 30/01/2019 11:48

Oops sorry that was meant for @OneMoreWish not @Onestep2 !
Sorry!

Also yes I've been having lots of lovely discharge so using panty liners so I feel less 'wet'.

Kentishgal · 30/01/2019 13:02

I'm starting pregnancy yoga next Wednesday - do you think that might help with the pain? I'll tell the lady before I begin. I want to do some exercises but I was mainly persuaded by the fact there's a tea and chat session afterwards to get to know each other...I thought I might meet some other mums-to-be (we were new to the area when my daughter was born so don't know loads of people)...is that a really bad reason?! I thought about doing nct again for the same reason but we don't really have anyone to look after our daughter and I probably don't really need to! Just going to join lots of groups once baby is here!

Jxtina86 · 30/01/2019 13:14

@Kentishgal I'm looking into pregnancy yoga too - midwife recommended that, Pilates or swimming to help with similar pain. I'm struggling to find a class at a good time though- most are late evening and a fair trek from where I live unfortunately but not giving up hope. Love swimming but still at that awkward sizing phase so hoping bump pops out properly soon so I can get away with just getting one maternity swimsuit.

Capybaras · 30/01/2019 14:05

I've been going to pregnancy yoga and finding it really good! Don't have PGP/SPD but my midwife did say it was a really worthwhile thing to do during pregnancy to hopefully strengthen the pelvic area! Find it quite relaxing too and a nice way to meet other pregnant women!

icantthinkofanythingoriginal · 30/01/2019 17:35

I would also recommend seeing an osteopath rather than a physio for pgp/spd- I say this as a physio myself. They are far more likely to do some manual therapy rather than just advise which I’ve found really helpful, that and hydrotherapy from the physio.
I’ve yet to meet a midwife that actually seems to care, talking to friends this seems to be a common experience across a variety of London trusts. Not sure the purpose of the appointments so far apart from to take bp and check urine- I can do that myself at work!

HchyScott · 30/01/2019 17:38

@Kentishgal I’m starting a group for a 6 week term on the 26th Feb, 40 mins yoga 30 mins hypnobirthing support then 20 mins of relaxation and meditation. Doing it for the same reasons as you but also to help with any anxiety even though I’m feeling really good so far. We’ve also booked on to nct in May. I just want to go into labour confident and not terrified and also build as much as a mummy community as I can as I have a history of depression. I’d say follow whatever your instincts tell you, I’m doing this for the first time so I’m trusting my gut and winging it lol

TwinkleDay · 30/01/2019 18:49

@HchyScott yes we have booked onto NCT classes too in April x

HchyScott · 30/01/2019 18:54

@TwinkleDay is this your first? Sorry I find it so hard to keep track lol! My sister said it was invaluable for her and her husband and he agreed and they are usually sceptical about most things so I thought it was definitely worth a shot!

TwinkleDay · 30/01/2019 19:06

Yep not got any baby experience either of us

TheScaredyKat · 30/01/2019 19:42

I've also heard from others experiences that an osteopath can help. My midwife weirdly said she could refer me to an osteopath but only if I have severe back pain?! She didn't seem bothered about my PGP even though I can hardly walk some days.
On physios advice I started yoga last night but it seems to have made it worse today. Didn't hurt at the time but has been so painful all day today. It's not a pregnancy yoga class though just a normal class but very gentle and the teacher knows. My local pregnancy yoga class can't fit me in until March so I've booked a place then but will hopefully continue with this other class until then as much as I can

TwinkleDay · 30/01/2019 20:14

Any body been for massage now pregnant?

Kentishgal · 30/01/2019 20:29

Thank you all for the tips especially re the osteopath - I have had one recommended to me before so should give them a try. Hope the pain from the yoga improves soon. That's what I found, I put my name on the waiting list for a pregnancy yoga class about 7 weeks ago and a space has finally become available - clearly there's a gap in the market!

StargazyDrifter · 30/01/2019 20:39

Kentishgal and others thinking about PGP, I'm most likely getting this too, did a thread on the pregnancy board a few weeks ago and highlights were: see a private osteopath sooner rather than later, it will get worse as the belly grows, keep legs together/don't stand on one leg dressing, silky pyjamas help turn in bed, yoga can make it worse.

I've also signed up to pregnancy yoga to make friends! We're not new to the area but always busy and are never around locally unless decompressing on the sofa. But now having second thoughts over yoga/PGP and not got round to osteopath yet.

The coughing/sneezing is terrible with PGP/whatever that pain is. I'm still full of cold and it's hard to avoid.

I also had a useless 16 week appt, thinking of a reassurance scan though will be 18 weeks on Sunday and then a fortnight might not be so long...

Another thought for today is that I'm definitely and firmly in the awkwardly fat stage. ☹️ Went to something for work today where they posted a shot of everyone networking in the break on Twitter. I look like a dough lump with lipstick on. Ugh. Roll on bump! On the plus side, I remembered to not do a day's work tonight to catch up.

StargazyDrifter · 30/01/2019 20:42

TwinkleDay not been for a massage but love them and DH and I have a long weekend planned in spring where they offer a pregnancy safe massage if you're over 12 weeks. So it sounds possible. DH refuses to call this a babymoon! 😂

Kentishgal if your osteopath is London-based I'd be super grateful for an IM with details, if you have a sec. Feeling a bit lost on Google!

icantthinkofanythingoriginal · 30/01/2019 21:08

StargazyDrifter the osteopath I have seen in London is evolution osteopathy in Southwark. I saw Matt and am going back next week he has got me from being off work due to the pain to being back at work (although still light duties) with no painkillers in 1 session. Pillow between knees at night has also helped and taking stairs 1 at a time of pain really bad. There is a good leaflet by the physio special interest group for women’s health with lots of helpful advise google pogp pgp leaflet

BeckyButterfly · 30/01/2019 21:29

@TwinkleDay I have been for a couple of massages. I go regularly because of my sciatica. You have to make sure that you tell them you are pregnant when you are booking to ensure they are familiar with pregnancy massage.

Kentishgal · 30/01/2019 22:28

Ok I am definitely going to see an osteopath now! stargazydrifter the one recommended to me is near Tenterden in Kent so not in London I'm afraid - think I've mentioned being in London before but actually I only work there. That's so annoying that yoga is meant to make it worse - I did ask the midwife but she gave me a sort of blank look! I think I'll give it a try and see how I get on - and just take it easy...and focus on the "tea and chat"! I went to the gp today about my bronchitis...they want me to do a "phlegm sample" - I thought weeing in a bottle was tricky enough - they now want me to cough into one - it's only about an inch wide so it's going to take some skill to accomplish that.

StargazyDrifter · 31/01/2019 00:25

Thanks icantthinkofanythingoriginal and Kentishgal on the osteopaths! I'll keep looking as Southwark is a bit out of the way, which will just mean I'll never go.

blueeyedviking · 31/01/2019 07:16

@StargazyDrifter Which part of London are you? Ive been to a few great physio clinics and they normally offer osteopathy too.

HchyScott · 31/01/2019 07:37

Well off subject but I’m trying to persuade DH that we should try and get a couple of days at the sea side or near water (really chills me out!) before bean is born as it’ll be the very last time not being parents. Anyone recommend and b&bs/hotels/lodges on the coast or on lakes that are nice and reasonable? Probably looking south coast as we are in Buckinghamshire so don’t want to go too far X

Trying2bemum · 31/01/2019 17:21

@HchyScott I love being by the sea too - perhaps Camber Sands or Brighton?

Is anyone else getting a really horrible taste in their mouth? It is like sucking on an old penny. I've had it solidly for three days and it's awful. Really putting me off food and and making my nausea worse.

Where is this second trimester glow???

Capybaras · 31/01/2019 17:27

Oh that sounds horrible @Trying2bemum

Speaking of pregnancy glow my face has turned into spot central! Woke up with loads of spots - went through a phase of this a month ago then my skin cleared and was great (even started going without makeup!) and now its back to spot fest!

Also starting to get the linea nigra on my belly. Belly's looking a little rounder too but still waiting to pop! 17+2 now! And definitely feel like I am feeling the baby move now, it's fairly regular!
