Sorry, can't think of a more exciting title!

Such a chatty bunch that we're racking up the threads now. Can anyone share the link for the Google Docs spreadsheet? The one I tried didn't work.

Thanks!

Ha it actually sounds quite painful and nobody wants to be left with a bumpy finger! It is,I never really had any "women's problems" so never paid much attention - but it did make me think, wow, I thought they could see lots from a scan but clearly they aren't that reliable. No actually I was really lucky, some women really suffer but fortunately not for me - and it did the trick with conceiving which was really lucky!!

StargazyDrifter · 28/01/2019 22:16

Yes the undiagnosed figures are scary. Fingers crossed there are more and more enlightened doctors now. Very good on your TTC, too.

I will keep you posted on the wonky finger, I'm certain it's not the end of it!

RoseBud2016 · 28/01/2019 22:37

Welcome @MrsC87 Huge congratulations!

I’m sure I recognise your username from a PCOS TTC forum a couple of years ago- am I right? X

MrsC87 · 29/01/2019 07:23

@RoseBud2016 sorry that wasn't me, we only started trying in August last year and were very lucky to conceive in month 4 xx

RoseBud2016 · 29/01/2019 08:38

@MrsC87 Ah ok It must have been someone with a very similar username.

@Regina any closer to deciding on whether to get a double pushchair or not, and if so which one?

blueeyedviking · 29/01/2019 08:46

Hi everyone

Think I've missed a whole tread 🙈 The last few weeks have been intense so haven't had the energy to contribute. Between my FIL funeral, trip home to the motherland, my mum's bf getting diagnosed with cancer, a poorly grandpa, a restructure at work (I got promoted, yey!) and now recovering from the Noro virus on top of being pregnant I've got no headspace left..

Great to see everyone's photos. Our next scab isn't until 22nd and I think we'll find out the gender.

It's my DH bday soon, any ideas on 'daddy to be presents'? I'm treating him to a weekend away so just need some small things to open.

Giraffe888 · 29/01/2019 08:52

Sorry you’ve had a tough few weeks @blueeyedviking hope you are feeling better after your illness too x

Capybaras · 29/01/2019 10:03

Sorry to hear you e been having a rough time @blueeyedviking

How are you feeling today @ReginaPhalange89 - have the pains stopped?

HchyScott · 29/01/2019 10:35

@blueeyedviking god, what a tough time of it you’ve had, you must be made of strong stuff! Really hope things improve or at least slow down and you stay well and healthy. Sending a huge hug your way xxx

Those who are already mummies I need some advice! Had a friend round on Sunday and she said it’s absolutely essential to buy a sleepyhead, they said it gave them complete piece of mind and their little one loved it for comfort so much so, he still sleeps in it at nearly 18months old. Well I’ve just seen the price of them 😲. Has anyone used one and what do you think?

Kentishgal · 29/01/2019 11:06

Hchyscott I think it's really up to the individual - not many things are absolutely essential! I didn't have one (I remember reading something about safety concerns at the time - not sure if that is still an issue - somebody else might know?...mind you, it seems there's a concern about everything baby related) and my daughter was fine without. Why don't you wait till little one gets here and see how they get on? You can always get one later on if you feel it would be helpful.

Squ1ggle · 29/01/2019 11:09

I never had a sleepyhead as having anything in the cot scares me but I know people who swear by them. My ds wasn't a good sleeper at all and who knows maybe he would have done better with one but I'm still wary (I'm a natural worrier)

pusscous · 29/01/2019 11:55

I'm thinking of getting a sleepyhead this time, never did with dd as I couldn't get the brand or similar in California until she was older. Literally everyone on my last mumsnet group had them and swore by them.

I think I've decided on the extra products that we need to get this time- car seat, Moses basket, a co sleeper bassinet and cotbed. All items that we had from our dd but we're badly damaged in a flood last summer- it was a natural disaster and there were floating around our basement. They were only stored there as we were renovating the house we moved into 18 months ago and keeping them clean 🙄🤣. Luckily insurance is paying for replacements but only like for like. I delayed buying earlier because of the miscarriages and could bare to have the items in the house and would rather write the money off.

RoseBud2016 · 29/01/2019 12:19

Htchyscott Didn’t have a sleepyhead last time and DD has always been a very good sleeper. I think it’s very difficult to know if the sleepyhead makes any difference at all. Most people who use them and swear by them, use them from birth so I don’t see how they know that it’s made any difference! They could have had a baby that slept well regardless, IYSWIM!

I’m not intending to get one this time either.

Giraffe888 · 29/01/2019 12:39

@hychyscott my bro had a sleepyhead for my nephew and he wouldn’t sleep in it at all. We’re not planning on getting one x

blueeyedviking · 29/01/2019 12:46

Thank you @Capybaras, @giraffe888 and @Htchyscott 😘

Funnily enough, @Htchyscott, my friend also said their sleepyhead was invaluable but they used it more throughout the house for the baby to sleep in when not in the cot. Didn't use it in the cot.

Does anyone have recommendations 're breastfeeding pillows?

HchyScott · 29/01/2019 13:00

Thanks very much ladies, I think I’ll leave it unless I see a second hand very cheap, it didn’t seem like an essential item to me (and scared of anything in a cot!) but she certainly sold it as one. Could always be a last minute perchase if I change my mind.

ReginaPhalange89 · 29/01/2019 13:22

@Capybaras I'm fine thanks for thinking of me ! Haven't had any more pains today so not sure what it was !

I've had 2 babies and never had a sleepyhead, definitely not an 'essential' , a luxury if anything ! I'm not planning on getting one .

I'm starting to get really impatient about buying things now! Haven't bought anything yet at 15+1. I'm so so desperate to go and buy some little sleepsuits, vests etc ! Gender Scan needs to hurry up!

Giraffe888 · 29/01/2019 13:59

Ha @reginaphalange89 I’m getting impatient for our scan too! 10 days to go x

ReginaPhalange89 · 29/01/2019 14:11

@giraffe888 mines not til the 13th ! Feels ages lol no way I could have waited til the 20 week scan

Giraffe888 · 29/01/2019 14:28

@reginaphalange89 no I couldn’t either! That’s not until 8th March! X

TheScaredyKat · 29/01/2019 16:46

I've got a Purflo sleep nest which is quite a lot cheaper than the sleepy head. Only got it by accident as I actually ordered a purflo pregnancy pillow but they sent me the nest by accident, its much more expensive than the pillow so I decided to keep quiet and keep it. Not sure if it's really necessary or not but will give it a go

ReginaPhalange89 · 29/01/2019 16:58

@giraffe888 I don't even have a date for mine yet! I reckon cos I had my 12 week scan and was dating 13+4 that I'll probably be waiting way past the 20 weeks 🙈

Giraffe888 · 29/01/2019 17:15

@reginaphalange89 I got the letter for my 20wk a few days after my 12 wk x

Giraffe888 · 29/01/2019 17:29

Is anyone really struggling with evening meals and food aversions?

I’m mainly ok during the day but come teatime I feel sick and the thought of cooking and eating food makes me feel so ill. I’ve not been able to eat the meal I’ve cooked for the last week, DH cooked tea for me on Sunday and I couldn’t eat it either. However I went out for a meal last night and I was ok. So I don’t know if it’s the being around the preparation/cooking that’s preventing me from eating it?

I’m really worrying about it as I’m scared baby isn’t getting the nutrients he/she needs from veg etc. I was going to do sausage, mash & veg tonight but I now can’t face it 🙁 the only thing I can manage on a night is cereal, fruit & yoghurt x

Jxtina86 · 29/01/2019 17:30

@ReginaPhalange89 my hospital book the 12 week scan for you but I had to book my 20 week myself - might be worth checking just in case? I had my scan at 13+1 and my 20 week will be at 20+2.
