Hello everyone

J20 you make me tired just reading your posts, I thought I was doing well to make Mars Bar buns today!

Inzi, I had wondered about the Amby Nest as well but I am not sure how long you would get out of it either, I know they say its suitable until 12 months but I also wondered about the safety when the LO can pull themselves up. I used to climb out of my cot from about 15 months!

Think we have decided on a Mamas and Papas system with the Carry cot took my Mum and wee sis to see it today and they both liked it too, so think I will order it shortly and then I can't change my mind again

Mrs Fish your scan pics look great, am very said I def wasn't having a 3d scan but am not thinking about it

Has anyone heard from Buffy lately? Had a feeling that someone was missing from the old thread and Buffy hasn't posted in a while.

Hello to everyone else hope you are all having a nice Sat evening.

muppetgirl · 30/06/2007 20:54

Hi ggg having just chatted with dh we think that he poos early in the morning as this then makes him come downstairs for his nappy ot be taken off where he's happy to go back to bed with just his pj bottoms. If he needs a wee he's happy to go in the bathroom by himself.

He's been doing the 'pooing as soon as nappy is on' for about 2 weeks?!

Someone suggested throwing all nappies away and biting the bullet. He's 4 in march and ds2 is born in oct/nov so i really want to get on with it if possible.

When is everyone getting lo's room ready?

Not sure as we didn nothing for ds1 (feeling guilty...)

OP posts:
MrsFish · 30/06/2007 20:58

Ours is already ready, not had to do anything though as moved ds out of there into a new room, so will use his old room for new one

PolarMummy · 30/06/2007 20:59

Muppet, we are not really planning to do anything with this LO's room, we have a spare room with two single beds in it so I am planning to take out one of the beds to make room for the cot, moving a chest of drawers from another room into this one and putting up a pair of curtains but that's it and I am not sure if we will do this before the LO arrives as I plan on having them in our room for a good while

HonorMatopoeia · 30/06/2007 21:00

Muppet, our lo's bedroom is currently called 'The room of doom' and that paints an accurate picture! It's covered in ironing, a computer that doesn;t really work, too many clothes and we have no where to put a wardrobe for us........panic attack panic attack......... breathe........breathe

muppetgirl · 30/06/2007 21:07

I just feel a bit guilty as were living in a rented house when ds1 was born and we never painted or did anything. You wouldn't have known it was a baby's room at all if you hadn't noticed the cot.

Have my old pine wardrobe I want to paint, ds1's cot to reassemble and I'd like to wallpaper.

Need to redo flooring as although it is a new house pesky Jack Russell pupppy was using it as his own privete toilet for a while.....

muppetgirl · 30/06/2007 21:11

lol honor.....

Our is a tiny room I was using to study in and has our old kitchen table!!!

OP posts:
greedygreedyguzzler · 30/06/2007 21:44

muppett - we wont be doing babies room till our etension is over and ds has another room to move into. so babies room currently has dinosaurs all over it!!

i think i would just throw the nappies away to be honest. might be messy for a few days, but if he is dry at night most nights then just GO FOR IT!! god rid of my ds's night time nappies at 2.4 and haven't looked back! mind you, dd is 2.6 and still uses her nappy some nights so we are sticking with that for a bit longer!!

lisad123 · 30/06/2007 23:23

I think might start putting things together for LO soon. She'll be in with us for a little bit but then move in with Tanisha. I didnt move inot my house till i was 7 months last time and spent all of 2 weeks here before had to be admitted and didnt come out till Tanisha was born. I used to send dh home with lists of things to do. I dont want that this time. So much to do!!

whoever was asking about the amby nest I know floria has one so she might be the woman to ask! There are a few threads raving about them too.... I was going to get one to have in our room instead of a crib but with ds1 we had a paranoid mother's baby monitor with a breathing sensor mat. That wouldn't work in the amby as the motion of the crib would set off the sensor anyway rendering it pointless. I don't think I was any more anxious about cot death than mrs average but what was great about the sensor mat was that we could see that ds was fine at a glance and didn't need to keep checking on him and disturbing him. Quite want to be able to use it again with ds2.

Will prob borrow a moses basket from a friend. We didn't buy one for ds as we were determined he was going to be in his own room from day 1. Until both dh and I had had no sleep by 7am on his first night at home and we brought him into bed with us whereupon he slept for 4 hours!!!! We got him in his cot by 6 weeks - co-slept and moses basket (borrowed) combo till then....

lisad123 · 01/07/2007 09:34

I too had one of those sensor mat thingys. I borrowed my sisters one but cant this time as she is preggy too. Will have to buy one. It certainly let me sleep easier, i found myself checking her all the time and being unable to sleep. saved my sanatity that machine

FloriaTosca · 01/07/2007 11:53

Hi.Another quick one (busy weekend!)
Welcome Lady E.
We have bought an Amby (well actually Mum bought it for me!);...we did a lot of research on it and decided for it partly because it seems a natural transition from the womb but mainly because both my brother and I were terrible colic sufferers as babies (mum never got more than 2 hrs sleep at a time for the first 6 months with me!!! and not much more after either) so chances are mine will be the same 9 what goes around comes around)...plus my cousins kids flat head is only just rounding off now at 4 and I'd like to avoid that. I'm not too worried about the baby trying to climb out of it in 9/10 months time...have you ever tried getting out of a hammock ???!!!! Having said that we have also been given a cot so do have that option later on too (once we have a new mattress)..and the resale value for the Amby is sky high so we're not going to lose much by trying it are we?. Down side is not being able to use a motion detector baby monitor but there are pros and cons to everything
Right, got to go take Aunt her birthday pressie (at least I wont have to suffer the 1960s party theme for this one! TG)...have a good day all

lisad123 · 01/07/2007 12:05

I wouldnt do it really lady Why you in tears? Hope your ok.
I have brought bits and pieces but nothing set up yet and need to get a move on

Wow you are very lucky, wish my mum would buy me one I would love to try one but just dont have the pennies. Maybe if my conpensation comes in for the crash i could let us know how it goes.

sorry need to vent. Thought I would order shopping online, thought it might be easier and less embrassing than having to make my way round tesco in a wheelchair.
Time slot, between 12-2pm. Thought that will do, I have to go out at 5 to 2 so thought would be ok. Guess what! not arrived yet grrrr

Ok rant over

I dont know what happened in your last pregnancy but can you not get GP to sign you off so you dont have to use so much maternity leave?
The pad sensors are called angel care monitors, they cost about £80-£90 I think, but can get them second hand. You can use in crib, moses basket or cot.
Glad you had a good rest, I wish i could sleep.

My shoppinhgs still not here getting pretty {angry] now

Lisa am in tears because of my DP.

have been with DP for 17 months. He was with his ex for 22 yrs and they have 2 kids together one now 22 the other 13. last night there was a bomb scare where he works so he called the ex to see if he could park the car near hers, over an hour later he called me to say he had had to move the car and once he had driven round for ages he ended up parking where she lived, so called and asked if 13 yr old could come and see him at bus stop of course she came too. I asked him why he hadn't called me first as there was potential that he could have been in danger and why he called her before me. He said he had called her from his mobile, turns out he called her from work before leaving to move car. I came second in the calls.

He called me a while later and said he would call me when he had eaten, after another hour i called him and he said "oh sorry i didn't call I ate then i got watching tv and forgot about calling you" needless to say i got the hump and hung up. I am 25 weeks pregnant with his baby and I feel I am playing second best to his ex who he left 4 yrs ago for a woman he met and then married, which broke up after a yr cos she was cheating on him. I don't have a prob with him seeing his son in fact I encourage it as he would not bother unless I did, its the fact he called her and lied about it.

He says I am being ubnreasonable, I have had 2 hours sleep which was very restless and am now on brink of tears. I am trying to hold it together as i have my DS (9) to look after and also I am wondering am I being unreasonable or is he? Why should I be left feeling second best cos he phoned her before me??????????
When normally I have to beg him to see his son....even to the point that last yr he didn't see or tlk to him for 3 months solid.

ooppsss sorry bit of a rant there and off topic!!!!

lisad123 · 01/07/2007 15:42

Oh lady sorry to hear your DP is behaving like an arse. Some men just dont get it. I would be upset too, but maybe her didnt think things though. Thought he would call you later but was more worried about his car parking by the sounds of things.
Have you told him how you feel?
I know what you mean though about feeling close to tears, I was in tears because I had to ask DH to cook instead of me. Silly really.
I hope your day gets better and he buys you plenty of chocs and flowers to make up for being a stupid man. {grin}

Hugs

Lisa
