I have already told DH that at some point after baby is born; one of our first meals out (whenever that happens) has to be to bluebird for the seafood platter. is AMAZING!
sorry if I have inadvertently made everyone miss their fave things.

muppetgirl · 09/07/2007 15:23

..am going to finish learning to ride a motorbike.

Did my cbt 7-8 years ago, rode around on a 125cc for a year and on the back of my ex's cbr 600 then did nothing about my test.

Will in the Autumn. Probably won't get a bike but nice to have 'finished' it.

I just stored my golf clubs in the attic - I will get round to playing golf again (she says hopefully) - will be interesting to see how we get on with the things we want to achieve post baby. Wonder how many Mnetters who have already had kids are laughing at my naiveity?? Golf and baby....dont belong in the same sentence really do they?

lisad123 · 09/07/2007 16:05

It will just to be to be able to do normal exserise like ride a bike or swim Oh and looking forward to being able to bath DD again.

hi everyone

sorry to ahve worried you all.

rang mw yesterday and she just said to rest and see gp today.went to bed for the rst of the day and just laid there worrying!

saw gp today who sent me to the hospital.got prodded and poked and told that ive probably pulled or strained a muscle or ligament.they wouldnt even scan me to make sure it wasnt the placenta.i feel a complete idiot for worrying.the doc i saw today said i would have other symptoms if it was my placenta coming away, but alst time it hapened i didnt,i just had the pain,no bleeding or anything else (apart from god almighty contractions from hell!!)

anyway,im supposed to rest as much as poss, ring them if im worried (like thats going to happen again!!)and i see my consultant on the 6th aug (gtt test is on 30th july).i just feel a complete idiot!

i dont see how i ahve pulled or strained something, not when i havent done anything to hurt myself.

had to take dd to the childrens ward whilst we were there to see her consultant.her breathing has got really noisy and me being in panic mode anyway,i had to get her checked.her consultant thinks its her hayfever, and has said to increase her inhalers and piriton.

anyway, thats my eventful day (oh apart from ds having to go see the gp this morning aswell as he has a whopper of a wart on his finger taht wont dissappear!) and my other ds did his first day of work experience at an ice cream factory!!

thank you for all being concerned, and sorry to have worried you all!!am off to do some more resting!!

MrsFish · 09/07/2007 16:52

Well I'm glad everything is ok regarding lo buffy

Pheebe · 09/07/2007 16:53

Hi Buffy, thanks goodness they've given you the all clear. Bit frustrating they didn't scan you but if they were in the least bit concerned I'm sure they would. Don't forget all your muscles etc are that bit weaker at the mom so it wouldn't have taken much to cause a strain, could even have done it in your sleep probably. (((hugs))) try not to worry too much

Lisa, exercise would be nice but just being able to walk up n down stairs without getting out of breath would be wonderful right now!

buffythenappyslayer21 · 09/07/2007 16:57

thing is after having so many sproglets i never thought i had any muscles left to strain!!!

muppetgirl · 09/07/2007 17:08

Hi buffy, gald you're okay.

AM just wondering what to feed everyone as dh pulled th eplug out of the fridge yesterday and the little freezer compartment has defrosted everything I normally use for ds's tea.

Looks like it's a pop over to Asda moment.
Grrrrr. and it's raining again too.

TheLadyEvenstar · 09/07/2007 17:25

I have not had any dinner did pie n tatties for dp and ds but i didn't fancy it. So i am making 2 jackets with beans n cheese......dunno if i fancy that now though lol

FloriaTosca · 09/07/2007 17:25

Buffy; I'm so glad you and lo are ok (the rest of the family too) Dont feel foolish...it is much, much better to be safe than sorry. You just keep resting.

WinnieThePooh · 09/07/2007 17:26

LIsa I can still bath DD. She will be 5 in August and loves having a bath with mummy (and bump). She lies back on my legs to get her hair washed, then she insists on washing my tummy.

Glad everything is ok Buffy.

MG I had to get DD from school in the rain. It was dry when I left the house, but thankfully I had taken her umbrella ad coat with me.

MrsFish · 09/07/2007 17:31

Still no rain here, but it is threatening it... it is supposed to be glorious tomorrow, I hope so, ds is in nursery so I can relax in the sun if that is the case. Here's hoping

lisad123 · 09/07/2007 17:37

Weather has gone mad here, hailstones the size of marbles.
Winnie would love to bath DD but the SPD means I cant bend, lift, generally do a lot She was in the bath with me the other day but still had to get hubby there to lift her in and out, and then help me
Lisa

WinnieThePooh · 09/07/2007 17:41

My DD is old enough that she can climb in & out of the bath herself. I have told her that I can't lifct her now incase I hurt the baby and she is fine with that.

lisad123 · 09/07/2007 18:42

If it was just geting her in and out, that would be fine, she can do it when shes in the mood, but bending over to wash her hair is so painful. Also cant wait to sllep on tummy again

muppetgirl · 09/07/2007 18:58

My dh bought a book about mummy having a baby.
Good idea I thought and let them get on with it.

Now darling son keeps talking about Henry being in 'Mummy's house' and we have to be careful now as 'Henry's house will get broken'

Anyone else had any experience of others' trying to 'help' explain anything?

Well hello and its taken me ages to catch up and I?ve had to resort to ejt?s trick of word then cut and paste!

J20 ? sorry you?re having a nightmare with your Mum. Sending big hugs to you xxx

Les ? how dare someone call you ignorant for choosing to spell your lo?s name in a certain way!!!! How narrow minded and ignorant of them! How you spell it is up to you. Ignore the people trying to make you feel bad and just think what pathetic uneventful lives they must have!

Lisa ? hope your friend is ok. Try not to worry about your lo?s birth because of what happened to your friend. They would only give someone a GA and sec tion if they were generally worried about your lo?s safety in which case you?d probably be happy to go with whatever kept her safe. Its very very unusual to have to give a GA ? usually they would have time to put in a spinal. Talk to your midwife about your lo?s heartrate and what it means. I know girls ones tend to be higher than boys and the HR will vary with their activity just like it does for you so don?t worry about a one off reading.

About the leaving your baby in the car while you pay for petrol thing ? one of my friends said that she had read somewhere that you are statistically more likely to be involved in a hold up in the petrol station queue to pay with your dc than you are to have them kidnapped from your car / car stolen while you pay for petrol! So give that to anyone who gives you grief!

Buffy ? love your dc?s names! Esp Chloe and Amelia. Chloe was on our shortlist if this one had been a girl. Glad your pains turned out to be nothing. Even if you?re not doing much the growing baby is stretching all sorts of muscles in different ways which is why this type of pain is common. Its what they said was going on with me when I went in last week ? my lo was lying all to the left and stretching my womb so much more on that side.

Hello and welcome to laksa!

Nellie - don?t beat yourself up over the wine. I have a glass or two about twice a week and enjoy it. There is NO evidence that drinking a small amount is harmful to your baby ? the recent department of health guidelines are scaremongering in the extreme and based on no evidence whatsoever. The Royal Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommends no more than 8 units a week and no more than 2 at once. Personally trust them a lot more than a group of paper pushing politicians! Nothing wrong with abstaining because that?s what you choose but wrong to make people feel guilty for the odd one or two. I felt sick last week after 2 choc mousses and a glass of wine though ? I think at the mo it could be more due to large volumes as lo?s are pushing upwards and compressing our stomachs!

Pheebe ? I had Braxton hicks last time from about this time. They?re like mild tightenings and can be painful although mine weren?t last time. Perfectly normal at this stage though and apparently happen earlier in second and subsequent pregnancies so don?t worry! My bump is much the same as last time although a bit bigger for the same dates. Plus movements are so much more obvious ? I reckon its because my placenta is at the back and it was at the front last time.

As for things we miss ? sleeping on my tummy def! Plus cheese ? I am a massive fan of the soggy smelly ones and can?t wait to try again! France with its cheese, wine and pate was a massive test in willpower for me this summer! I have been eating prawns though since 12 weeks as long as they are from somewhere decent ? the risk is so tiny its one I?m prepared to take.

Sorry couldn't reply to you all personally - its taken me over an hour as it is! Big waves and hugs to the rest of you and hope all is well xxx

alicet · 09/07/2007 21:10

cross posted with you inzi - glad scan went well and they're keeping a close eye on you. Not surprised you had a mini meltdown after what happened last time and glad they have listened to you...

alicet · 09/07/2007 21:16

Just realised not posted any of my news!

We had a lovely weekend with dh's family. Saw sil in hospital and she was tearful but better than we had expected. BIL too is doing afantastic job as a dad and their dd is gorgeous. She's now the same weight as ds was when he was born - I couldn't believe he was ever that tiny!!!! He was really cute with her too - stroked her hair and put his cheek against hers! Made me want to cry and can't wait to see him with his little brother!!! Basically have come away feeling so much more positive about their situation. It will be very tough for a number of weeks / months and sure there will be times where everything seems to go backwards but they are doing really well.

MIL was a bit hard work though. She moaned a lot about how hard it has been for her, how tired she is and how its all been absolutely awful - for her. Don't get me wrong - I'm sure it has and I wouldn't wish seeing ds have to go through what her ds and his wife have. And she's been great at helping with the baby and the night feeds. But I never once heard her say that it must be hard for bil or sil - it was all about her. Hope she was just venting at us because she couldn't to bil thats all!!!

Dh and I have narrowed the names for lo down to 2 - Adam and Patrick (Paddy) and were having a bit of banter about that too. And she doesn't like Paddy. What she actually said was 'if you call your son Patrick or Paddy I won't be able to love him'. Couldn't believe it!!!! Laughed at her and said ' don't be so ridiculous - you can't love or not love a little baby because of his name!!' in a jokey way because I was so gobsmacked. Then changed subject. Just hope she wasn't thinking because she's stressed....

alicet · 09/07/2007 22:08

Where are you all ladies? Was hoping for a bit of banter! Hope all well xxx
