J20

j20baby · 07/07/2007 12:04

thelady, so is my dd! she even comes to the beer garden with me once in a while! don't let people get to you :0

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/07/2007 12:07

J20, just one of those days...I only asked a simple question as you have possibly seen on the thread and hey ho

lisad123 · 07/07/2007 12:09

Dont worry about it lady, some people have nothing better to do than put pthers down to feel better themselves, sad life!!
My DD comes everywhere with us too, to the point that on holiday a couple stopped us heading out of resturant to say how wonderfully behaved dd was and how nicely she sat at dinner

I like it with a K. You should have heard some of the comments i got when i suggested i wanted to name this one Satine....

Hugs for you

muppetgirl · 07/07/2007 12:20

Hi again, can I ask what was wrong with taking your child out with you and including them in the converstaion?

OP posts:
j20baby · 07/07/2007 12:21

aw let him sleep, bless.

right am off to put the cot together, dd will be home soon and will want to raid all the new bags of baby stuff, then......might take her out for a meal tonight don't normally have her on a sat night so should be good, will have to keep my eye on her drinking mucky beer though, she's a little precocious

j20baby · 07/07/2007 12:23

muppetgirl-obviously children should be seen and not heard............err try telling dd that! i went to a funeral wake on mon and she was devestated because i went to pub without her and 'she wanted to go to the party' sniff sniff

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/07/2007 12:23

Muppet,
I am not sure.... I was a single parent for a long time and whenever i was invited for a meal people always invited ds as well. He is an intelligent child and also opinionated. Guess thats whats classed as precocious. personally i like the fact he has an opinion on things but hey thats just me lol

muppetgirl · 07/07/2007 12:33

Just looked at Konor/Konnor thread -judgemental lot aren't they?

Having lived with the name Currill all my life (surname then marrying a Leigh (Lee/Lea/) and hyphanating the two life is interesting for my lot!! BUT Currill was mine and I wantd to keep it as dad was an only child and i have 2 brothers who at the time when I married looked like they were never going to have children.

People comment about how unusual it is (Leigh-Currill) but haven't been rude (to my face anyway -omg!! what have they all been saying?) we live with so many different derivations of the two we can even spot which mailing list we're on!
Lea- Curnil/Lee-Curpil etc.

Weird people...
We took ds to the ~Pump Room in Bath for a treat and it is a 'nice' place to eat we drilled him before hand ('People come to eat and not listen to a screaming 3 year..' -that kind of thing, 'We will leave if you misbeahve...' yada yada yada.)
He was fantastically behaved and chatted to the waitress saying please/thank you. Isn't that what we're supposed to be doing? Teacher our dc to interact with the rest of society??

(I did have a complete disaster though in Borders the book shop as ds kept touching everything so I warned him we would leave, he carried on, we left. Later I had to pop into homebase and reminded him of not toucing else we'll leave and he was fab until we got to the till where he promtly laid down on the floor and announced to everyone 'I can touch this though can't I.....!'
He can be such a toad.

Muppet,
Very judgemental indeed. But the some people thrive on making others feel small....almost worked with me but then you lot came n rescued me lol

TheLadyEvenstar · 07/07/2007 12:40

lmao Muppet i like your ds already .....i mean you didn't say he couldn't touch the floor did you lmao

muppetgirl · 07/07/2007 12:43

les -he's a 'cute' cookie when it comes to having the answers...
god knows what he'll be like as a teenager

Haven't read your thread, but I'm sorry they are being mean

Well my day started by throwing ds's cereal all over the kitchen (not on purpose - butterfingers) its amazing how far milk and special k can fly

Then went to DH's Granny's to fit her a shower, just as we were leaving, DS wanted to play in the drivers seat so I lifted him in, and turned my back for my bags and he fell out onto the driveway, poor thing has scraped all of his forehead under his hair, looks really sore, as with all kids though he got over it quick, me on the other hand 2 hours later and I still keep crying about it as I feel really guilty

buffythenappyslayer21 · 07/07/2007 14:03

hi everyone!

thelady thats awful about the school doing naff all about your ds being bullied.i can speak from personnal experience here as we ahve had soooo much trouble with our kids being bullied at one point or another.if the school continue to do sod all to stop this other kid hitting and threatening yours, write to the chairman of teh governors and also the education welfare officer.my dd was being bulied by our next door neighbours boy.he strangled her, kept punching her, tried pushing her down 2 flights of concrete stairs, and the school said "oh weve told him not to!"as if that would do any good!!!i wrote to those ive just mentioned and wrote a very noce letter to head explaining i send my kids to school to get educated, not to be beaten up or to be terrified about going there.the headmaster has teh acre of duty of your child whilst hes there and its his responsibility to make sure that children arent hurt or threatened when they are there.
sorry to go on about it,but bullying really pisses me off.i was bullied when i was at school.and 2 of my kids have been bullied, and that got me to stand up more,i dont want my kids going through what i went through.so if i was you, take the matter further, and get the little shit taht bullying your ds stopped.

rant over!!!

muppetgirl · 07/07/2007 15:06

Okay, okay, they are still going on about the konor/konnor name thinga and are even loosing their inhibitions to be totally snobbish and prejudice towards those with different names -read the one from a lady called roisin. Some people would think her name was a little unorthadox if you didn't know it was irish.....

OP posts:
muppetgirl · 07/07/2007 15:08

..this is waht she said.

'used to think my dislike of 'unique' names, and unusual spellings was irrational and pure prejudice.

But it really does seem to reveal a great deal about you and your parenting. IME at school the most charming and pleasant children are called traditional names like John, and Sarah, Rachel, and Eva; and the top sets are also full of Michaels, Louises, and Heathers.

The nightmare sets, and some of the most challenging children, have the least traditional names, and the quirkiest spellings. (Sorry, can't give examples in case of identification).

Did you know that given a list of 200 names of unknown students, experienced teachers can identify the top set and bottom set with astonishing accuracy!'

OMG people like this actual exist!!
