Working backwards..sorry..Polar hope all is ok for you too.
My LO seems to have active days and sleepy days but the times I have worried most, (we have recently noticed a pattern) is when we have had company,... everything goes utterly still, not a flutter or a tickle let alone a kick.... we have come to the conclusion that we have a nosey parker who wants to listen in to all the gossip! I dearly hope that this quite patch is the same for you.

designerbaby · 05/07/2007 15:14

HI all - it's taken me all day (in between work, admittedly) to get through all the posts I missed while on a photoshoot yesterday! Phew...

Mrs Fish - You're a fellow graphic designer! That's cool! There don't seem to be many of us having kids - I'm only the second in my company and the only deisgner they've ever had go on maternity leave - and they've been going 18 years... How mad is that?

All though worrying about food poisoning from cheese - I had food poisoning from indavetantly eating non-pasturized mozzarella at a fancy italian restaurant in Notting Hill. At least that's what the doctor thinks it was.

My boss took me there by way of celebration about the all-clear on the Edwards we'd just received, and ended up poisoning me... Typical!

I can assure you there was nothing 'invisible' about it. It was like something out of the exorcist and I didn't eat anything for about 5 days. Even with being so ill the Doc wasn't very concerned about my doing damage to the baby - just warned me to keep hydrated. Seems the placenta filters out a lot of the nasty stuff... And two weeks later at my 20 week scan all was fine.

So if you'd been poisoned by brie, I reckon from experience you'd know ALL about it... and bubs would probably be fine anyway...

Polarmummy - let us know how you get on. I guess we never realise how much we rely on those regular wriggles for our own peace of mind, until they're not there... Baby's probably just moved to a position where you can't feel the movements at the mo - hope so... let us know?

And re: fetal alcohol syndrome - my poor mum had terrible morning sickness for the whole 9 months with me, and the only thing she could keep down was cream label stout... and I'm just fine... (a bit short maybe!).

Well, I think I'm just fine - others might disagree....

Apricot - with you on the apostrophes, although my usual accuracy has been badly affected by preggy brain - as has my typing... (which you've probably noticed in my erratic posts). Have you read 'Eats, shoots and leaves'? If not I recommend you get a copy. As a fellow pedant I think you'll love it .

Muppet - also feel enormous - especially after seeing myself in severl test shots done by the photographer yesterday. I look like a whale . Bump measures 40" round, which I'm convinced is far too big for 24 weeks.

I'm blaming my 6ft 4" rugby-playing south african husband for givign our baby his giant genes... I'm 5ft 1 and a half... Convinced our kid will be taller than me by the age of five.

Going shopping with mum for baby stuff tomorrow armed with my mammoth list. Can't wait .

Meanwhile DH is stuck at home with the bloke we've hired to strip the wood-chip wallpaper off our hallway... We're normally avid DIYers (well I am) but this is not a job for the faint hearted so we've temporarily become GSI-ers (Get Someone In). It's got a bout 20 layers of paint on it, poor bastard.

Will try and check in more regulalrly though, or I don't stand a chance of keeping up with you lot!

Big hugs all round

Hi Designerbaby - Yes I was a GD, gave up work when DS1 arrived but I do do favours for people on the odd occassion, in fact I am in the middle of doing a logo/corporate ID for someone atm, it gives me a little pocket money any

lisa - hope everything is ok with you and lo

Muppetgirl - you need to get yourself over to the Recipe forum, we've been having competitions the last few weeks its good fun and gives you something to think about over the week and an excuse to do some baking etc... we are hoping to do bread next week

buffythenappyslayer21 · 05/07/2007 15:58

nellie, both my mw and my friend have said teh same.mw told me (and gave me a leaflet on glucose tests) that i cant eat anything from 10pm the night before.i have to be at teh hospital for 9am.have some blood taken, then get given a bottle of glucose to drink followed by a bottle of water.have to then wait on the unit (but can go for a walk around the hopsital if i want...which means walking past the wrvs shop and the restaurant!!)after 2 hours they take another blood sample and then you can go.

you probably should ring your mw to double check with her what youve been told.

TheLadyEvenstar · 05/07/2007 16:42

TheLadyEvenstar · 05/07/2007 17:04

TheLadyEvenstar · 05/07/2007 17:06

Me no like you now DB you made me do it [sobbing] [wailing] wiping snotty nose on db

buffythenappyslayer21 · 05/07/2007 17:22

lady i was mortified when i measured my bump ages ago!did post on here when we were doing all the scan dates etc,i darent measure my bump now as its alot bigger tahn when i measured before!!!

buffythenappyslayer21 · 05/07/2007 17:22

by the way...im alot bigger than you, hope that makes you feel better!!

designerbaby · 05/07/2007 17:29

Oh I'm so sorry!!

Don't be sad - it just means you have a healthy baby growing well! My friend is now 37 weeks and she looks smaller than me - her baby has all kinds of growth problems and it's a real worry...

Besides I'm 40" (probably more now - it's been a couple of days!) and only 24 weeks (not even - 23+6) which is a due date very late October - so you're probably further along than me - the way I'm going I'm sure I'll catch you up...

I think mine is about 50% pain-au-chocolat though, I think...

Plus my knochers are GINORMOUS which adds to the general impression of bulk

BIG HUG (well as far as we can without our joint bumps getting in the way...)

buffythenappyslayer21 · 05/07/2007 17:29

just found it,ages ago i was 46 1/2" all around!funny thing is ive lost weight whilst pg but my bump seems to be taking over!!!

TheLadyEvenstar · 05/07/2007 17:41

I am 25+3.....and now feel humungous lol. Mind you when i was pg with ds I went from a size 8, wieghing 8st exactly to a size 20/22 and god knows what i wieghed. MW did say it was because i was so underwieght in the first place my body put on what it needed plus baby wieght. This time i have gone from 12-14 in clothes to a 16/18 depending on what it is. Although I have a pair of jeans that are a 14 and still fit.....oh don't s'pose they count they are maternity jeans lol

muppetgirl · 05/07/2007 18:20

Hi all, just got back from dramatic finger cutting incident!

I had finished making the pizza and was just doing a bit of washing up when I stupidly put the food processor blade in the water, forgot it, came back and slashed my thumb on it. Wandering around the kitchen trying to hold hand high whilst applying pressure and trying to keep 3 year old out. Loads of blood, decided my nieghbour was needed so picked up son in the other arm as he he no shoes on ran in the rain to neighbours where she sorted me out.

What a twit!
btw im 22 weeks and my bump is 39"

Ejt -I've emailed the doulas in my area to ask what support they provide postnatally as I'm not sure what they do/don't do.

Thanks for the recommendation

I am 42 inches and 27+4

j20baby · 05/07/2007 18:50

hi all, just popping in quickly

polar - am thinking of you, hope you and lo are ok?

my measurement is 39" around and 19" hip to hip.

have ended up doing my stairs carpet today as people keep letting me down but, even if i do say so myself, it looks bloody brilliant!

also been stripping wallpaper, as i got let down with help to do that too, wait till they all need me for something!

please don't shout at me, i feel loads better today and am having lots of breaks.

also getting new sofas delivered tommorrow even though its not meant to come till August so trying to sort my living room out ready for it, will try to pop in later.

{{{waves madly at everyone}}}

j20baby · 05/07/2007 18:50

oh yes forgot to say, i am 27+1

alicet · 05/07/2007 19:10

I haven't eaten peanuts but do have runny eggs (I figure the rsik is to me rather than the baby so I can live with that) and have been eating shellfish since 12 weeks. Funny how most of us have decided we're happy with certain things but not others - all a personal choice I reckon! Have also been having the odd glass of wine guilt free!

Hope you're OK Polar - just what happened to me a couple of days ago so fingers crossed all well for you too.

DB my dh is also 6 foot 4 and I am only 5 foot! My theory was its natures way of getting normal sized children!

Anyway off to cook tea now - hello to everyone else!

FloriaTosca · 05/07/2007 19:13

J20 I'm thrilled for you that your stair carpet looks so good but for pitys sake please will you SLOW DOWN!!!!!!!The decor will wait, it isnt important....and the men bringing the new sofas will, I'm sure, move things around to make room for the new ones if you play the preggie pathetic female card! Please stop now!

dal21 · 05/07/2007 19:32

Hi everyone! Tons of posts!

Hope everyone is feeling ok. I have had a long week at work and have tomorrow off - cannot wait! Intend to go shopping for curtain fabric for LO's nursery! Well thats my intention - may not move from the sofa!

Re. the GTT test - they do 2 diff sorts. I have mine next week - I need to arrive 15 mins before my checkup and drink the lucozade or whatever. Then about an hour later when my checkup is done, they will take the blood. If levels after that are cause for concern, then I have to do the fasting GTT test that others are talking about. I think practice may differ from hospital to hospital - worth checking before your appt. Some places are trying to avoid putting us preggers ladies through the fasting one at the first stage - have to say, not eating would make me mighty grumpy!

I went and measured myself just out of curiousity - am 36 inches across bump at 27+6.

Has everyone been weighing themselves during pregnancy? I havent been near a set of scales - will most likely do so right towards the end but just dont want to know how much i have gained! am i alone on that feeling???

j20baby · 05/07/2007 20:29
