Apricott - I loved my wrap sling and lent it to a friend who had a baby last December and she loves it too! It is now going to another mother to be who is due at the end of July to try out before she buys one herself. Then, at long last, it will be returning home to me. Sometimes I wish I still had it as ds likes to be carried around, but is getting VERY heavy now at 17 months!

muppetgirl · 04/07/2007 16:53

Nellie-thanks for the boxset dvd tips, i feel like treating myself as i never buy dvds whereas dh buys loads of x box games. Will try ebay as can then re-sell.

Apricott -caught ds doing the haka around the living room (with arrgghhh! sounds too) and thought 'now there's a boy who needs a poo!'
Managed to convince him that the toilet would be better than his bed.
Though he has said the bathroom toilet is now 'his' and he has to have harry the frog seat and a stool there at all times....

Mumpbump -do the slings hurt your back at all? I had one of the front ones and I couldn't use it -are these better?

I think those are valid enough reasons

muppetgirl · 04/07/2007 18:44

Hi inzi
I have just been madly cleaning the kitchen and 'doing' the stairs (think window cleaners rubber thingy that they clean the water off with -it's the only things that will get the dog hairs off the stairs)

Tummy very achy now though.
Got to put ds to bed as driving me mad playing with pesky Jack Russell. I've had to explain that a game getting the jr to lick you on the face isn't really a game and does he really want Stanley to lick him with the same tongue that has been licking his bottom?????

alicet · 04/07/2007 19:49

Good luck with your scan on Monday inzi and good to hear another day went well at work! I'm really jealous you're on mat leave so soon - I'm not until early Sept....

Nellie - can't speak for obstetricians and how open they are to new ideas. I think most of the general surgeons I have worked with would have been open to discussion about peoples preferences but people don't come in with ways to make taking their gallbladder out if you see what I mean!! People who have surgery under loacl anaesthetic ask for certain music to be played sometimes which we always oblige with.

I think like anything there are some people that would be open to new ideas and others who wouldn't. I think the best way to go about getting your thoughts listened to though is to go in armed with all the information as to why what you would like is a safe and reasonable course of action and to listen to their reasons for not wanting to do it if that is the case - they might have very valid reasons. At the end of the day if you find someone who refuses point blank you can ask for a second opinion - ask around to find out which obstatricians at your hospital are less conventional.

Off to have tea now. May be about later....

well done muppets DS he is a little star.

I cant remembver who said they were still waiting for physio for spd, but hope you get it soon. I know how your feeling and its so painful, have ahug

I feel huge today and generally run down, but think i did too much, so gonna aim for early night.

has anyone got a recommendation on what type of sling? I want one, my sister wore hers for ages, but they all seem so expensive, and i have dd school uniform to pay for this month.

Is anyone else having to have a GTT test? Im due mine on 19th, I hate needles, I want to cry. Im sure im fine, but as mum and sister are both dibetic, i have to have test.

Lisa

muppetgirl · 04/07/2007 20:47

Lisa -doesn't sound like you're having a great day -big hugs (very gentle) to you!

This spd sounds awful, is it just a pregnancy realted thing or is it all the time?

OP posts:
Pheebe · 04/07/2007 21:16

Can I eat hazelnut chocolate???

Someone please say yes...

Lisa - I'm sposed to be having a GTT in a few weeks but I'm going to change hospital and hope it gets lost in the paper work. Seems silly to me as the reason they want to do it is I had some glucose in my urine in the last few weeks with DS. But who doesn't! And besides he wasn't a huge baby 8lb 3oz. My mw last time said she refused it with all 3 of hers and unless there's a specific medical indication (diabetes in the family), other signs of gestational diabetes, she didn't really think its necessary.

Now about that chocolate...

alicet · 04/07/2007 21:17

Lisa I have a baby bjorn which was great for me. they cost about £50 but I got mine on ebay for £16 - you can wash it so I thought that was great. The hug-a-bub looks fab too - would ahve liked that if I didn't have the other already. Again about £50 but can get for a little less on ebay - not much though.

muppetgirl · 04/07/2007 21:31

Pheebe, I ate most of everything with ds1 and are still doing with lo but the only thing I did stay away from any nuts...

sorry

OP posts:
lisad123 · 04/07/2007 21:32

Yes Muppet SPD is pregnancy related, and most woman get better once baby is born. And thanks for hugs.

Thanks for advice on sling, will look inot them. As for the GTT, damn I cant refuse. No signs last time, so fingers crossed

Hope everyone is ok, its gone quiet this evening.

Lisa

nellieloula · 04/07/2007 22:00

oh no - why can't we eat nuts? I know I can't eat peanuts for allergy reasons but I thought we should be eating other nuts (or have I missed something in the posts along the way??) God I hope so - I have become more than partial to green and blacks hazlenut and raisen chocolate. Please don't say I can't eat that too! (mind you, I've just had runny poached eggs so don't know what I'm worrying about!)

lisa, I have a baby bjorn sling which was great and looking forward to using it again.

LO is starting to move a bit more now; so much quieter than DS was can be really disconcerting but thankfully the kicks are coming back tonight. Really wishing I had some chocolate now.....better go and see what substitute I can find. Have a good evening everyone; hope the pains and aches don't keep people up too long

lisad123 · 04/07/2007 22:02

nellie i always thought it was just peanuts too
And i have been eating dippy eggs too but craving them like mad

lisa

muppetgirl · 04/07/2007 22:34

don't mean to stress anyone!!
I just thought nut oil was in all nuts and that it was best for me to avoid.

I always thought that nuts were to be avoided for the first 3 years (I think..?) so I have just taken that to include in the womb as this still gets passed to lo.

This is definately not scientific fact
