Bumblesmum · 09/07/2007 13:01

lljkk - No I haven't had any spotting. I am just worrying.
I am having trouble sleeping though, I can't get comfortable in bed and I keep waking up and then come morning I am knackered. I have not been sick yet, but my boobs are so sore and itchy. I have tried to wear maternity bras with no wiring but nothing seems to help, I cant lay on them at night.
oh and VV my stomch has been huge for the past week, but mine is just bloating.

Bumblesmum · 09/07/2007 13:03

SAMSMAM - Can I please borrow your heartbeat monitor? So I can try and hear a heartbeat.

Bumblesmum · 09/07/2007 13:05

Miniandme- I am only just 9 weeks, but I will give it a try, I think I could do with hearing bumble as it would make this whole pregnancy thing a bit more real for me.

miniandme · 09/07/2007 13:10

Be careful though cause if you dont get one it could make you worry even more babes. Its advised to try it on a full bladder and can also be harder to find in bigger women, like myself

samsmam · 09/07/2007 13:18

I doubt my monitor will work it isn't a doppler. It says that it should be used from 24 weeks so it'll prob be no good. By all means take it but I think you'll be worried if it doesn't work. Perhaps we could share the cost of hiring a doppler from ebay?

BTW- Incase people are wondering Bumblesmum is my SIL. Great timing by us.

sams and bumble - u r so lucky. i was pregnant at the same time as my sister with dd1 (10 yrs ago!) and it was brilliant. she had a dd too and they are so close

Bumblesmum · 09/07/2007 13:36

Yes we are lucky, I am so excited about it!
Samsmam - I am up for going halves on hiring one. where is the best place to get one? are they expensive?

I do understand what everyone is saying about not being able to hear a heartbeat yet, but it is worth trying.

Egg · 09/07/2007 13:51

Aha, I was wondering if you two knew each other as you mentioned borrowing something. How exciting! My sis and I were always planning to try for babies at the same time, but her youngest is three years older than my DS, so we didn't even get close!

Still hoping someone on the Feb thread finds out they are having twins too so we can share our fun experiences!

morningglory · 09/07/2007 15:11

Hello all! My, you all have been chatty. Don't have time to catch up with all the new messages, but just wanted to say that I had my dating scan, which confirmed that I am 7 weeks+4. Fetus is 1.5cm, which is just right for dates, and heartbeat was a reassuring 150 beats per minute.

I feel like I can relax a bit now.

I'll catch up later and say hello to everyone then.

Egg · 09/07/2007 15:11

YAY! Fab news MG. About to log off so can do so with a smile on my face now .

Lucylou21 · 09/07/2007 15:41

After an okay weekend I am feeling awful today! I made it half way round my usual walk before giving up thanks to a headache that won't shift.
I also seem to have a pregnant looking tummy already which seems slightly early, I'm wondering if it's anything to do with my stomach muscles seperating whilst preggers with DD. I think they've given up early this time!

rozzyraspberry · 09/07/2007 16:18

lucylou - I had same problems with stomach muscles with DS2. Hoping it doesn't happen again this time as I was so uncomfortable when pregnant. But already sometimes feel twinges in my stomach muscles when I'm moving around. Ah well I'll just have to wait and see what happens I guess.

Jo9977 · 09/07/2007 16:42

Thanks for that smithfield - looks interesting...do find that I get hot in bed which makes it worse but only manage to stick my legs out!

Fab news MG! Isn't it all exciting! I get the impression there's a load of scans happening w/c 23rd so should be a busy time on the thread!

Have a good evening everyone!

miniandme · 09/07/2007 17:41

Jo anothe rthing to try is to keep a fan on your legs to keep them cool.I had jumpy legs when i was pg with dd whos now 4 and they started wheni was in the throws of labour to my dismay, the midwife wheeled in a fan and blasted it onto my legs which stopped the jumping almost instantly,i was most disappointed when she took it away to allow me to deliver dd

DearBeatrice · 09/07/2007 19:35

gingermumi · 09/07/2007 19:37

Excellent news morninglory.

Like so many on this thread my symptoms seem to be worse on some days than others. Felt reasonable on friday and saturday so did lots of 'stuff' but absolutely paid the price yesterday. Have felt ok most of today but cooking dinner has brought the nausea on again. Have mw tomorrow, so will let you know how that goes!

gingermumi · 09/07/2007 19:37

I have scan week of 23rd too!

yummymummylu · 09/07/2007 19:41

Hi all!

Hope everyone is well and getting over the lovely feelings that we so enjoy with pregnancy!

Well at least it means our little beans are growing and getting bigger!!!! Wooohoooo!

Anyone got any tips on how to survive morning sickness and travelling to work?

Have been slowly flicking through this thread and there's loads of us!! Cant believe we have a virtual world where we can share things with out telling people in RL!!

Well anyway enough waffling! Hope everyone is good

xxx

mymissus · 09/07/2007 19:43

Hi guys and welcome newbies

Have had a odd weekend - been constantly knackered, felt queasy and sore boobs, much like the rest of you!

I saw my midwife on friday who was nice. She didn't take any blood or do any tests at all which I wasn't expected, but just went through the records and all the details.

She also told me I had two choices re scanning tests - either the private nuchal test (with blood tests at 11 to 13 weeks?) or the NHS blood tests at 12 weeks and 16 weeks.

My scan date is 6 August at about 12 1/2 weeks - do I have the nuchal test then? Has anyone any advice - very confused about what to do [sad}

CountTo10 · 09/07/2007 21:09

Hello! Well we've told everyone now. Most people had guessed as like most people I have a little bump now and the difference over the weekend was immense and I just can't suck it or squeeze it in anymore!! Everyone was really excited so I feel really over the moon now!! I know its not the magic 12 wks but I always feel better once I'm in double digits so I'm hoping we'll be ok.

I don't know about restless leg syndrome but I do have nights where my body won't switch off and last night was one of them. Plus I had to get up 4 times to go the toilet!!!

lljkk · 09/07/2007 22:01

mymissus: is the private nuchal fold test with blood tests at the fetal medicine centre? Does elsewhere in NHS do them?

Can't tell you what to do -- if you know you might want to terminate then nuchal fold (etc.) tests can be helpful; the blood tests available privately should "refine" the risk, make the risk statistic more accurate.

mymissus · 10/07/2007 07:18

I think the nuchal test is still held at the General Hospital but you have to pay for it - I guess I need to look into the different places you can have them in Cheltenham?

morningglory · 10/07/2007 10:52

In terms of scans, I think that your age also plays a part. The blood test which they run concurrently with the nucal scan privately will give a more accurate assessment of the risk of downs, etc for the fetus particularly if one is older, as this will automatically put you in a higher risk category without the blood tests.

I'm going privately for the nuchal scan because they will also do things like measure the angle of the genital tubernacle to give a pretty good idea of the sex of the baby (just really want to know, and it makes shopping more efficient).

According to the scale, I've only gained 2 pounds, but to look at me, you would think I've gained 10 pounds! Didn't realize that my stomach muscles were so ravaged by my first birth!

miniandme · 10/07/2007 16:44

ladies a riend just sent me this link and i figured we could all use it from one of us to another ,its free baby goodies.

gingermumi · 10/07/2007 16:57

Thanks for link mini - i love free things! Got my first bounty pack today - voucher was in info midwife left - lots of goodies! There are lots of places that have free things, there is a list on mn, when i find it again i'll paste it over. I know that if you join the tesco baby club they send you a voucher for a lovely basket of lotions etc if you buy a pack of huggies (?) in store - might be worth checking that out too.

Midwife was really nice, was here for about an hour and a half going through medical history etc. Took bloods and urine test, only mentioned my age once and that was only when i said i got tired! Feels wierd and good all at once - it's all official now. She didn't listen for heartbeat as she said her machine was not powerful enough for 10/11 weeks, also fibriod soaks up sounds so she didn't want me to worry if she couldn't get one so it was better not to try at all. She has moved due date to 31st Jan but i would like to stay on this thread if no one minds - as it's only a day i'll just leave it as 1st feb on list.
