RoseQuartz · 01/07/2007 21:09

hi everyone, glad all seems well for you, can't stop now as 1001 things to do, sorting out kids and get the little sods to bed in record time, get eldest 2's school uniforms ready for the morning and remember to put their dinner money in their little envelopes blah blah blah....see if they have tidied their school bags or is the kitchen sink still there...............oh dear its never ending, but hey, what else are we mothers for eh!
Well, as promised will have to dash off now and annoy dh for a change (he usually does it to me) oops, i don't mean he DOES IT to me, what I mean is that he usually ANNOYS me and drives me nuts!! he he!!!

RoseQuartz · 01/07/2007 21:12

judging from my last post, I bet you're all wondering how dh and I ever managed to have a houseful of kids - #7 on the way, and counting!

pobletsmum · 01/07/2007 21:41

Rosequartz - I don't know how you do it - I have great admiration for mums in big families.

mutha2beagain - I only wish I COULD be sick. I find it's the only real way to get relief from the nausea. Even then, the relief doesn't last long.

Thanks to those who shared their food diaries. Most days for me are BAD in terms of nutrition. However, I've suddenly gone off wine (have been avoiding anyway) and chocolate . I'm really fancying Nature Valley granola bars, especially as they're on offer at Tesco (!), but they're full of nuts and I've got to avoid nuts because of allergies/asthma/eczema in the family. Ho hum!

Have a good week everyone.

manamana · 01/07/2007 21:45

ohmygod soooo much been going on while i've been away. welcome to all the newcomers, great news about your dad leesmum. i had a bit of a scare at the weekend, ended up at my mil's gps after a bit of spotting and a weekend of odd stomach discomfort, not sure whether gas/normal pains or something more sinister. GP couldn't do much as was friday afternoon and no scan appts until tomorrow morning at the local hosp. Home now so going to ring my gp first thing and try and get a scan. feeling less worried now cos no more spotting since friday and still feeling v sick. DH was lovely, asked if I wanted to log onto mumsnet and went out and bought me a baby magazine that had an article about worrying things in pregnancy . Anyway, will updtae you all tomorrow.

pobletsmum · 01/07/2007 21:58

Best wishes manamana

Best wishes manamana

CountTo10 · 01/07/2007 22:27

Sorry some of you are still suffering with the sickness. I'm still just eating through my nausea. Am drinking ginger tea in the mornings and then chaomile in the evenings as I'm struggling to sleep again!!
Went out shopping with my mum yesterday and we looked at loads of baby stuff, it was great!!! Felt really excited for the first time since finding out!! I know I'm going to get more impatient this time round. feb seems miiiiiiiiiiles away!!!

scully · 02/07/2007 02:31

Tiredness has definitely kicked in, by early afternoon I'm ready for a lie down, pity dd1 and dd2 don't agree
Don't know how you're coping with 6 of the little darlings to organise, Rose dd1 is off having a playdate right now and dd2 is sleeping, I should be doing other things but am on here instead
Had a relaxing weekend, and am trying to avoid most social things for the next couple of weeks, until we are more comfortable telling people, only 6wks tomorrow still and I don't see my gp until Thurs next week.....
Just think, only another 6wks or so of this and we will all start to glow

mymissus · 02/07/2007 09:30

Hi all

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I went home to parents for lunch yesterday and told them - they were really thrilled! DP v nervous as we aren't married and have no intention of getting married & he thought my father would get angry, but they couldn't have been happier which was great.
I think we've told everyone we need to now and would like to keep it quiet til 12 weeks.
Have got my midwife appointment on Friday(should be 8 weeks by then) can you help me on what I am to expect? I have a couple of forms to fill in but will she do anything else? Am a bit needle phobic - I know it is something I will have to cope with over the next few months as I can imagine there are lots of tests? !!

mutha2beagain · 02/07/2007 12:44

manamama - hope everything is all right with your scan today - as a seasoned veteran of recurrent miscarriage I know how nerve wracking the dreaded spotting is. For what it's worth, my pregnancy symptoms subsided miles before the spotting started so hopefully you don't have anything to worry about. Good that you've got a responsive GP who can put your mind at rest. Good luck.

One more day of loafing around feeling queasy before I'm back at work tomorrow. Think women should be given maternity leave in the first trimester - don't they know how hard our bodies are working to build these precious babies in the first weeks??

miniandme · 02/07/2007 12:59

Have been away to my brother and sil all weekend with dp and the kids got home at 9ish last night absolutely knackered after doing a 380 miles drive down on friday then back up yesterday, now i have a kitchen floor full of washing to get through on the upside though it means i can stay in pjs today hehe!!

gingermumi · 02/07/2007 13:06

Hope everything's ok manamana.

mymissus · 02/07/2007 14:17

crossed fingers for you manamana

RoseQuartz · 02/07/2007 14:31

just popped in to say hello to everyone.....busy bee has to go now, catch u later x

morningglory · 02/07/2007 14:39

Hello all! Had a great weekend, except for ms and fatigue. It was DH's bday and our anniversary, so we went away for a quiet weekend.

Had follow-up scan today, where they saw the fetus with an active heartbeat! What a relief. Now I can finally call gp to be booked in!

Good luk manamana with your scan. Hope everything is fine.

manamana · 02/07/2007 18:08

Fantastic news MG and thanks to everyone for your good wishes. Have got scan at 8am tomorrow so hopefully only one more sleepless night! Also had already booked in midwife booking in appt for the afternoon so as long as all is ok with scan will be super officially pregnant by tomorrow evening!!!
Mymissus, fraid you may need to get used to the needles quite early, from what i remember last time they take blood at the booking in appt (although that may vary). Take care all and will update tomorrow

lljkk · 02/07/2007 19:31

You can refuse to give blood at booking appt, I did this morning. MW was very supportive, actually, immediately agreed I was in my rights. I am well pleased. She pointed out that if you do give blood, lets them know

blood iron level
if Hepatitis B infected
if HIV infected
blood type, whether RH-.
some other benefit, not enough for me, though.

Turns out I'll have to pay for a nuchal fold test, though. Something else to think about!

pobletsmum · 02/07/2007 20:20

mymissus - yes, there are unfortunately quite a lot of blood tests, if you decide to have them all. I had all of them last time, as I decided that I'd need a good reason to refuse. It's a very personal decision, especially when it comes to the screening tests later on.

I'm no good with needles either - I have been know to faint or throw up . However I'm usually OK if I tell the nurse/midwife beforehand, and they let me lie down on the bed during the injections/blood-taking & for a few minutes afterwards. Since I've been doing this i've been OK.

I have my booking appt this week too, on thursday, so I'll be thinking of you.

pobletsmum · 02/07/2007 20:22

Great news morningglory!

samsmam · 02/07/2007 21:17

Good news Morningglory.

Ages until my first scan- I'm guessing middle of August!

Been finding it hard work with LO and pregnancy, part of me wishing she could crawl so she wouldn't need picking up so much. She is very clingy at moment her 5th & 6th tooth just come thru. And I can't just sleep!! As soon as she nods off I jump in to bed!

Going back to work on September 17th. Only for 3 months though!

Mollymops · 02/07/2007 21:30

Hello, newbie here!

Newly pregnant and first guess is due near end of February!

gingermumi · 02/07/2007 21:41

So glad all ok mg, must be such a relief.

Hope all goes well tomorrow manamana.

Have booking app next tues, can't wait to be honest! Not too bothered about blood tests, obviously i don't enjoy them but i will havw them if offered. i do agree that it's a personal decision, rather like which scans to have etc.

Mymissus - i would explain how you feel to mw and get as much info as possible so that you can make the right decision for you. They shouldn't judge you what ever you decide and should be supportive if you're nervous - dd2 is needle-phobic and has 'emla' cream when she has blood taken or injections - it numbs the area - perhaps this would help if you do deide to have them done?

indignatio · 03/07/2007 06:41

Welcome Mollymops
I have my booking in appt tomorrow and as I should be 8 + 4 I will ask if the m/w is prepared to try to find the heartbeat with the external wotsit she has.

I didn't have sore boobs or sickness over the w/e so started to worry. I do feel a bit sick now so perhaps all is still OK. I suppose only time will tell. Sorry to be so negative.

mymissus · 03/07/2007 09:57

Welcome Mollymops and congrats mg

Thanks for advice everyone. Will have to grin and bear it as haven't had a blood test in years and no previous babies, so I guess I should really know as much as possible?

My midwife sounded really nice on the phone so I'm sure she will be patient - I usually have to sing very loudly to take my mind off it which then ends up in lots of giggling, so I'm sure it will be fine!!

Finished work last Friday and have yesterday and today off before starting temping tomorrow for a company I know. I have slept solidly - I don't think I have ever felt so knackered?! They are going to be really impressed with me - I think I'm going to be like a zombie

manamana · 03/07/2007 10:15

Hello!!! Am back, had an internal scan which was less horrible than it sounds and all is fine , measured ok for 7+4 and saw the little heart beating away so pheweeeeeeeee
Congratulations mollymops, yep I am wiped out here too - have a big sales conference next week which I am running part of and no-one at work knows yet, not looking forward to that at all!
Indignatio, same for everyone - worrying is definitely what comes easiest so don't worry about being negative on the board. Despite seeing the little chap on screen I'm sure the reassurance will wear off after a couple of days and i will be back to paranoia zone. getting booked in this afternoon so a day full of baby talk - all seems v real now!
