Good luck tomorrow bubbles!

mymissus · 10/07/2007 17:51

Thanks everyone for all the advice and the websites!

Phoned the hospital today to book in for my nuchal scan and they pulled me straight in for a dating scan...and I saw the heartbeat!! I was so nervous as was on my own, but now it all seems a bit more real!

Egg · 10/07/2007 18:06

Wow mymissus! That must have been fab. Congrats on seeing the heartbeat. Is your date still the same?

Ginger v glad you are not leaving us... I think my date is 31 Jan / 1 Feb, although unlikely I will get to that point, but Feb ladies are lovely so I am staying put forever .

Been out in Brighton all day with Squonk and mumto3girls plus all our kids. Was fabulous meeting them and lots of fun. Bit tired now though...

manamana · 10/07/2007 18:20

wow egg, can't believe you've been in brighton today, that's where i am at our conference! Feeling absolutely wiped out with sessions all day and then late dinners. Finally cracked and told my boss today so I could skive off dinner tonight. Gonna get room srvice, have a bath and then sleep! Great to catch up with all your news. take care all

Egg · 10/07/2007 18:25

Oooh which hotel are you at? I parked right next to the Thistle at the Lanes car park. If I had known we could have waved . Bet you feel relieved your boss knows. I told mine 3 days after I found out last time as it made my working life a lot easier!

Sorry have missed lots of people's news. Keep meaning to go back and read things and then lose track of time. Suddenly feel EXHAUSTED.

mutha2beagain · 10/07/2007 18:27

Good for you mana - know what you mean about the double ended days - a day at work yesterday followed by a charity fundraiser that I could not get out of with dh absolutely wiped me out.

Was so scared of finding myself sitting next to complete strangers trying to suppress ms and my constant urgent need to burp all the time - does anyone else have that? It's truly gross.

Forcing myself out tonight again but that's it for the week - the rest of it I'm climbing into the sack at 9pm at the latest!

Looking forward to an end in sight for all these early symptoms - seems like the end of the month will be a turning point for a lot of us.

Have a lovely evening xx

mymissus · 10/07/2007 18:31

You sound like you had a lovely day Egg - great to meet some of the others!

Yes my date is the same, she said I was 8 weeks (although looking at the screen it said 8+1) which would match my calulations re 18th Feb. She was SO quick (the whole scan must have taken less than 2 minutes) and they wouldn't let me take the scan pictures so DP will feel v left out as he sadly couldn't make it.

Good luck Bubbles with your appointment

gingermumi · 10/07/2007 19:35

glad you had good scan mymissus, pity they wouldn't give you the pictures though, i thought most authorities did that

mummyto2littleprincess · 10/07/2007 19:42

hi everyone my due date is 29th january but i just know that baby wont be born until feb which i hope it comes on time

Jo9977 · 11/07/2007 09:27

Wow - thanks for all the free stuff sites - I love free stuff!

Yes, Ginger, V glad you're not leaving us...feels like a little community now!

Smithfield...can I join you in the paranoid corner? I feel fine!!!! And now I'm worrying that somehow my body's absorbed crumb back in and there's nothing there! This pregnancy lark is terrible on the nerves! How are you doing?

bubblesbabe · 11/07/2007 10:24

Jo - feel free to join the worriers - smithfield and i are at it with a vengeance! Still going to have a look at all the free stuff sites to cheer myself up!
Seeing dr later and going to ask for a scan.

wotsits · 11/07/2007 10:58

I've a quick question for you: saw the MW on Monday for the first time. She left me the green notes and nothing else. Is it because this is my second baby, or should I expect to receive a plastic folder with the NHS pregnancy book and other bumf?
Can't wait to have the 12-week scan - at the moment it feels like a Phoney War (except for the constant nausea!)

miniandme · 11/07/2007 11:08

Im on baby number 4 and got all the baby books and bumf?? maybe she forgot to give it you

wotsits · 11/07/2007 11:18

Thanks, miniandme - will ring up MWs and ask.

Lucylou21 · 11/07/2007 16:13

All this waiting is driving me mad, not seeing my midwife until god knows when as she is off sick so I'll be seeing the fill-in at 13 weeks. I cannot wait until 20 weeks to find out how things are going so please please please how do I go about getting a private scan sooner rather than later? I know somebody offered me info on how to do it but I can't remember who!!!
Sorry for the desperation, I just want to relax with this pregnancy and I just can't at the moment.

gingermumi · 11/07/2007 16:14

Baby no3 for me and again all the bumf n booklets (though she did say she wouldn't normally give the big pregnancy book to a third time mum but she thought i might have forgotten some stuff!). Bounty book and voucher was in the pack but you can also get this by registering with bounty on line - they will send you a voucher to take to boots or asda - i'd recommend asda as you get a 5 pound vouncher to spend on baby clothes!

gingermumi · 11/07/2007 16:17

You can self refer for a private scan - not sure where you are but i went to a place called first view which is near fareham (hampshire). They were brilliant - not sure if they are a national company but there are lots of companies that do it - try google and put in your county as well - to narrow down the responses. Also try your local bupa hosptal. Hope this helps.

gingermumi · 11/07/2007 16:20

Also, when i went to antenatal clinic there were ads for private scan companies everywhere - why not ring your antenatal clinic and see if you can get a contact number from them

lailasmum · 11/07/2007 17:24

HI
can I join in. I am due 14th Feb. Known for a while but only really got around to thinking about it properly now as I have been so busy.

I have a three year old daughter and am feeling really different this time round. Slightly nauseous which I never was last time. and really tired and ravenously hungry. Plus I think I am going to be huge this time as my jeans are already tight and I am only about 8 or 9 weeks.

Jeanette

samsmam · 11/07/2007 18:07

Welcome Lailasmum- I feel totally different this time round I am putting it down to tiredness making me nauseous having to look after 9 month LO and not sleeping well.

I am only 7 weeks and my trousers are feeling tight- don't want to go in maternity clothes already.

Hired a fetal doppler from ebay and sharing it with bumblesmum- we both picked up heartbeats- not constant ones but we are using it pretty early, at least we got readings.

This is the private scanning people I used for my 4d scan they do all scans.

Scanning

OP posts:
lailasmum · 11/07/2007 18:19

I have found I need a little sleep in the afternoon and then am falling asleep really early only to wake up about 11pm and be wide awake for about 4 hrs. Hopefully it will pass an I will get a few months of normal sleep back before then end.

We don't get offered scans until 20 weeks round here. That doesn't particularly bother me as I have no reason to need one really other than the basic reasons, I am not at risk of anything in particular but it amazes me how massively maternity care differs around the country, a friend of mine has already had 2 scans (not high risk for anything either) and she is only 12 weeks.
