Hi all,

Thought I would update my details too.

Thanks everyone for the tips on maternity clothes etc.

I have been shopping for maternity clothes - and bought 2 pairs trousers (well, 1 pair jeans at £7.99 in H&M Mama sale and 1 pair cords £24.99 H&M Mama full price) that come up to my boobs!! very comfy and would recomend them to everyone! I also went to the M&S sale - got measured for new bra's - OMG am now an E cup - spent £24 and got 12 pairs knickers and 5 bra's!! absolute bargain!

I'm not sure if maternity clothes make you look more pg - or if my bump has massivly grown in the last couple of weeks. But I definately look pg now - and not just like i've eaten too many pies!! excellent idea of taking photo's each week! I might start doing that.

amy78, hope thesis is going well. ds still staring into space, said he works better in the evening(i don't believe him) so he quit for the day and went to the park for the afternoon . He's drawing pictures of guns on his hands as we speak.

mutha2beagain · 16/09/2007 17:50

Just looked at the thread count and it looks like we'll need to get a new one started very soon.

So for an opening gambit .... how about

bigger and bigger bumpety bumps feb 2008

Sorry baby brain has rendered me completely lacking in innovation and creative spark. Have lolled around in bed all day as standing up is giving me girth ache - I thought this was supposed to happen a bit further down the line and it's not as if I'm even carrying twins like so many of you others...

Hope this stops soon. DS demanded that I make cupcakes with him last night so I obliged, but in a bid to get them slammed into the oven double quick forgot to put cupcake cases into tins and just stood them on a baking tray. Consequence was batter spilled out into one big oozy cakey puddle. I thought it was hilarious but DS was traumatised. Today have been secretly eating super cook ready made butter icing out of tub directly - and high sugar dose is making LO squirm hyperactively. Better go and start getting my £120 quids worth of fruit and veg down before the pregnancy police come knocking....

Hope you are all having a good weekend

Egg · 16/09/2007 19:39

Evening All. Just wanted to say leesmum I smiled to myself thinking of your dad when I saw Man City won today and are now SECOND in the premiership!

To all you twin mothers to be, and to those who have other DCs who still need a pushchair, anyone got any ideas what double buggy they are going for? I had my heart set on a Nipper but have realised my doorway is too narrow so I need to get either a tandem or get a side by side that has car seats / carrycots that can be removed so I dont have to take sleeping babies out of pram and wake them just to get in the house. Got a damn inner doorway (we are only renting so can't remove it) in the hall that is only 68cm across. Ridiculous . Am now thinking of First Wheels City Twin here, as can attach either maxi cosi car seats or carrycots. Any views anyone???

Egg · 16/09/2007 19:40

Oh and mutha2beagain, I am just grateful to anyone suggesting a new thread title, so I think it is FAB. Would you like to do the honours and start the new one so we can link here before we run out of room?

Jaysthird · 16/09/2007 20:27

how about, 'its not just our tummys growing, its our numbers also!'

CountTo10 · 16/09/2007 20:36

I like that one jaysthird!!

Just thought I'd pop into say hi to everyone and hope we've all had a good weekend.

Hi All,
I'm new to this tread, had my scan last week and was told I am due on the 29th Feb, with my dates I was the 1nd of march so I was watching the march thread, This will be my 2nd I have a 1 year old ds, who is just totally adorable at the moment so how is everyone feeling ? I still have a little morning sickness but the tirdness is not as bad now.

pobletsmum · 16/09/2007 21:43

I'm sure a couple of people came up with witty thread titles about us having so many twins 'on board' but I can't remember who or what the titles were - sorry!

Am updating the list too cos somehow my date changed since I last posted on the list. I'm due 13th Feb.

It's good to hear that most of you are doing well. Another vote here for swigging directly from prescription sized bottle of Gaviscon! I actually find the normal Gaviscon more effective than Gaviscon Advance. I don't know why.

Please can I have some advice. I'm quite worried about whether my baby is OK. I have been feeling movements for 2-3 weeks now, often fairly strong & distinctive - I notice movements even if I'm mid-conversation etc. Anyhow, for the last few days, I have had a few days when I definitely haven't felt the baby move at all, and others when I think I might have felt a feint squirm, but nothing definite. I have been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions (as I did 1st pg but a bit later on), some mild pains at the bottom/sides of my bump. I have also noticed a pink tinged discharge when I wipe (last 2 days only) and a bit in my knickers (sorry if TMI ). My heartburn seems to have gone away the last 2 days too. I think I'll ring the midwife tomorrow for some reassurance, but would that be a waste of her time? Should I be worried? Are these just all 'normal' pregnancy niggles happening together by coincidence? I'm really quite worried, and would be grateful for some opinions/advice.

Just updating cos my due date seems to have come off recently updated lists! Plus, DD is now a couple months older...

Sorry, pobletsmum, no advice except to say yes, do ring your midwife, it's probably be nothing to worry about but it's nice to get reassurance from professionals. Hope it all goes well

Welcome to the feb thread Podywody,

Those mums that are due around leap year time, would you try and avoid the 29th or do you see it as a special birthday?just wondering

Pobletsmum how are you this morning?
Have you been overdoing it recently? that could explain a bit of spotting, try not to worry but get in touch with your mw to put your mind at ease.x

Egg · 17/09/2007 10:06

Morning All.

Pobletsmum I would call midwife asap. I wouldn't worry so much about less movement (even though I myself worry about it all the time ) but without wanting to scare you I just read that mid trimester problems (late miscarriages etc) can begin with pink discharge. Really sorry if I terrify you uneccessarily but the book then went on to say that with the right actions (bedrest etc) it can be avoided so well worth checking it out asap. Am sure it will be ok though, and please let us know asap what the midwife says.

Sorry, welcome podywody! Think we are about to lose the ability to post on here so someone do a new thread quickly (please not me, am too scared...).

Hi all!

Welcome to newcomers and all the best for scans this week!

Have just had traumatic weekend with MIL who, while being generous and helpful with cleaning, can also be rude, belligerent and downright sulky as well! We went to Rugby Baby Farm and I had to quietly tell the shop assistant to ignore her and carry on several times while DH ushered her out of the way!

Is anyone else finding it hard to get the balance between respecting Mum/MIL's advice and experience but getting them to realise that lots of things have changed?

Egg · 17/09/2007 10:21

My MIL is a lovely lovely lady, not a bad bone in her body, but she drives me round the bend. She is currently trying to persuade me to buy a second hand double buggy from one of her friends for £45. It is an umbrella style one, and looks like a cheap Maclaren, which might be fine for older children but will not be fine for two newborns. Also it wouldn't fit through the front door... She thinks I will be wasting my money getting anything else.

Pobletsmum, and worried now that I will have scared you. I really hope not, but would much rather you get checked out and everything is fine than you leave it and something turns out to be wrong that could have been avoided.

The baby kicked me 3 times last night. It felt very strange. How weird to think that there is a person living inside you and moving around like that.

Pobletsmum, I have been having pains too, and sometimes I don't feel the baby for a few days, but the midwife said all is fine. Don't know about the discharge, but if it's just faint spotting, I heard that can go to between 16-20 weeks. Sorry I can't be more help, but hope you're ok.

Leesmum, sorry to hear about your dad

B x

Pobletsmum: Just wanted to concur with Bessie, as I've also had pains like you describe both at bikini line level and at the sides of my bump. Reading about it, it all seems to be round ligament pains, and apparently very common at this stage (I'm a week behind you). I don't know about the spotting though - could it be sex-related, maybe? Hope you get your mind set at rest soon about it though.

ladlemonke · 17/09/2007 14:10

Afternoon all,

pobletsmum fraid i cant offer any advice as i am new at all this, but i do hope that by now you will have spoken to your MW and been reassured. Hope you are feeling much better.

I'm not even sure if i've felt any movement at all yet, thought i was getting a very subtle ripple sensation but cant be sure its not just food digesting! I woulda thought that with 2 in there it would be more obvious by now? Have had a fair bit of twangy pain at sides of bump when moving or sneezing, think thats the round ligament type though i was really worried the first time it happened.

Hello and welcome Podywody! Leesmum re bovvered about leap year due date: i know its a bit cliche, but so long as the bubs are healthy i dont mind about anything else much. However, my due date of 29th is a bit optimistic as that'd be 40 weeks, which with twins on board aint very likely.
Am due another scan tomorrow, so i must try to remember to ask for a revised date.

Egg I want to see the bubs in pram/buggy side by side and be able to choose rear or forward facing, and have been ranting about whats available - i decided that all buggy designers are men and therefore have no idea what twin mums want/need. I hate the tandem style, and had kinda settled on the idea of the 1st wheels twin city model, but was dissapointed that no one seems to do a side by side with choice of rear facing that can take car seats. From what you say, it is possible to attach another make of car seat to twin city??? Is that right?
If aye, that would solve the waking up to get into house thing. Although i was told that newborns and young 'uns should only be in car seats for 90 mins max at any one time because of their spine development. Anyone else been told that?
Ithought the twin city was 78cm wide though, if i were you i'd take that door off the hinges (hang a curtain?) and store it, if it gives you a few more cm's clearance.

(Sorry for long post!)
Good luck for this weeks scans everyone!

Egg · 17/09/2007 14:26

Ladlemonke - this pram thing is a tricky business hey??? But yes, the City Twin thing takes either maxi cosi seats (my preferred choice of car seat anyway as can also go on my Zapp if we ever take one baby out at a time...), but it has carrycots that click in and out too, so better for if baby is in for any length of time as they lie flat. It is 78cm wide, so wider than mountain buggy or nipper, but none will fit through door so no matter! I figure I can take carrycots off, bring babies in, and leave chassis in porch (or if I can be bothered, fold up chassis and bring in). Need to see one in flesh first, but am holding off until after scan.

Good luck for tomorrow!
