Twin Ladies: I think your questions about whether epidural is good strategy in twins pregnancies or not should be its own thread on the multiple births board. Lot of twin mums are induced and it seems to me like most induced women opt for epidurals.

Our babies will be born in the years of the pig (before until about 8 Feb 2008) or rat (about 8 Feb 2008 and later). Rats are supposed to be clever and capable, but sometimes self-centered. Pigs are generous -- sometimes to a fault (says Chinese astrology).

Also, dates of full moons next year: 22 Jan, and 21 Feb. So I our babies' arrivals to cluster around those dates.

Updating the due date list (yes, I spent a long time reorganising it, yes I am sad, pls. don't rub it in):

lljkk.. you know your stuff, i'm crap at anything like that, are more babies born around full moons?
List looks better this way.

I'm presuming we have all had 12 week scans or are there any more to come.. i was a bit worried as some ladies haven't been on for ages (dearbeatrice where are you, fine i hope).

So are we on coutdown to 20 week scan? How many of you are finding out flavours?

Take care everyone and here's to a sunny bank holidayxx

RoseQuartz · 25/08/2007 10:26

WEHEEEEEEE EVERYONE.............BABY IS ALIVE AND WELL.......YES, YES, YES!

Thanks for all your advice and support, you've really helped us get through this tough time.

Baba is growing normally, and measured exactly 15 weeks yesterday, by dates am 15 weeks today, so all is well.

So chuffed....dh and i managed to get some sleep last night after worrying ourselves silly for what feels like many weeks!

Take care all = hope all is well with you lot, thanks for your support and concern.

Hi all,
thanks for all the welcomes!
This thread has so far been an invaluable wealth of info for me and i expect it will continue to be so! Especially as its another week and a half till i get to see a midwife for the first time (issit just me or has anyone else felt let down by available natal services?)
Suffering from sinus congestion + headaches - any tips other than steam inhalation and olbas oil?

Congrats Rosequartz , glad you've had some positive news!!
Now you can catch up on that sleep you've been missing!

RoseQuartz · 25/08/2007 13:40

ladlemonke........thanks very much, its been such a relief, and we also had a much welcome nights' sleep last night as a result of our best possible news.

alkar · 25/08/2007 17:32

Thats really good news rosequartz, very happy for you.

I have my next scan on the 4th Sept and I can't wait to find out if its pink or blue!!!!!!!

Any other scans due soon?

RoseQuartz · 25/08/2007 19:44

alkar........hope your scan goes well on sept 4th and that baby will reveal its gender!
Please don't go decorating the nursery though - unless they're absolutely 100% certain...just in case.

With my first baby she wasn't going to reveal......so we just had to wait for the big day!
with babies number 2,4,5 and 6 they were spot-on but with baby number 3 we were told it was a little girl.....erm - I had loads of frilly pink dresses at the hospital ready for our 'baby girl'.....and our little BOY arrived!! he was just as welcome though, so it didn't matter at the end of the day as long as we had a healthy bundle of joy.

leesmum · 26/08/2007 08:18

Alkar, i can't believe your scan is only just over a week away, i've got till the 12th which seems forever but were finding out aswell although im about 90% certain its another boy, which will be great for my ds because he's at an age where he thinks he's top dog and the world revolves around him(well it sort of does)

RozeQuartz so relieved for you and your family x

RoseQuartz · 26/08/2007 10:19

Good morning all........we're having a typically lazy Sunday here, hope you're also relaxing wherever you are.

Shall pop in later, be good you lot! x

Slacker · 26/08/2007 10:38

Morning RoseQuartz, and everyone

17 weeks today! And I just saw a May 08 thread has started, which makes me feel this pregnancy's actually going quite fast....I still only have a tiny bump but I think I've felt the baby move once or twice so I'm fairly sure that everything's ok in there.

I had an appointment with the community midwife, which made me quite determined that she is having nothing to do with my birth! So I've talked to an independent midwife who sounds lovely and on my wavelength, and I'm hoping to book with her so I can relax and enjoy my pregnancy.

The reason I had a midwife appointment at all was to get a scan booked, but they've given me an appointment for 4pm on a school day, 20 miles away from my kids' school! So I think I'll be going private for that too, unless I can get it rebooked for a different hospital that would actually be convenient for me.

Anyway, hope you're all well and blooming - I'm off to enjoy having DH at home for three whole days!

pobletsmum · 26/08/2007 11:13

Rosequartz - that's wonderful news. What a relief for all of you!

I think I've felt baby move too. I skipped the whole 'butterflies' stage with DS and went straight to tiny pokey sensations just before 16wks, and the same seems to be happening again this time (15+4 today). I'll have to wait and see, but t'svery exciting. Seeing the new list made me remember that I haven't changed my due date, so here goes...

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend everyone!

Congrats to Rosequartz!
Am excited to see you have the same due-date as me, although worried now that I have worked my own due date out wrong because I am still only 14+5 weeks along... oh well don't suppose there is much difference in it really. Also have to say I am hugely impressed at the number of children you have. I am a bit dubious about my own abilities to cope with just one + a part time job!!

Anyway. A question to the board generally: am gonna go for my booking in appointment on Tues, is there anything useful I can ask the midwife at that point?

cornishkitten · 26/08/2007 15:53

hello thought i would say hi.
this is my first and its due 8th feb so it looks like its just me and 'mutha' for that date so far.
Really excited about things and glad i found this site i reckon i can just cry out for help and people will be there for me, its great, makes me feel good. though im afraid i will keep this short belly is rumbling (AGAIN!!) and i fear if its not filled anger and rage will set in, lol.
Seriously though, i dont have M/Sickness anymore but i feel sick if i havent eaten in a while or if i pig out and overfill myself, anybody else get that?

SallyInYorkshire · 26/08/2007 16:25

Welcome cornishkitten and congratulations!
Yes I definitely get the "feeling sick if hungry OR if overeaten" .... It's not fair! I feel sick, so I eat, then I feel sick again!!!

And if I eat just the right amount, so I don't feel sick, I just feel very sleepy afterwards - Inconvenient if it is the middle of the day and I am supposed to be doing something useful!

RoseQuartz · 26/08/2007 16:31

SallyInYorkshire........you made me lol.....What do ya mean you dunno how u gonna cope with 1 child plus your job....don't worry about it, the job is gonna be the simple thing tho!!!
We don't really 'cope' as such, we are just laid back and let the kids get on with doing their own thing -within reason!- and just live in one big playpen rather than a normal home like everyone else!!!
As you can imagine house is never tidy with all of us, but so what eh...we will just have to wait a good few years before we get our 'nice' house back again!
Take care

RoseQuartz · 26/08/2007 16:35

So SallyInYorkshire, you are due about same due date as me then....tbh I'm not really sure when I'm due as the date keeps getting changed all the time....somewhere between 15th and 19th feb though....if I get that far..omg fingers crossed.
What date did you say you are due?

surreygirl · 26/08/2007 18:52

Just thought I'd say hello. I live in Epsom, I'm 39 and due 7/2/08 so today I'm 16+3. This is mine and hubby's first little one and feeling nervous but excited! First scan was fine, 20 week one is booked for 26/9 and have a 17 week appointment this week with my GP. Didn't have morning sickness but did feel queasy for first 13 weeks and so tired! Feeling a lot better now, just have heartburn. Haven't felt baby yet and just want to for reassurance. Not yet into maternity clothes have only put on 4lbs (but was 21lbs overweight before I felt pregnant!) but just wearing size 14 skirts with elasticated waists! I'm also rhesus negative so have the extra injections to look forward to!! Giving up work at 30/31 weeks all being well and buying stuff then. Anyone who can recommend prenatal yoga in / around Epsom, aquanatal classes or relaxation classes please let me know!

SallyInYorkshire · 26/08/2007 20:55

Hello surreygirl and congratulations!

Rosequartz well it's just that I am the most disorgnised person on the face of this planet so may have trouble adjusting to parental responsibility! I think I'm due Feb 19th according to my LMP, although like you possibly a few days earlier according to the 12wk scan.

SallyInYorkshire · 26/08/2007 20:55

pobletsmum · 26/08/2007 21:11

Hello to surreygirl and cornishkitten. Surreygirl - sorry to hear you have heartburn. I do too, interchanged with nausea - bleurgh! Did you know that you can get big bottles of Gaviscon free on prescription? I'm on my second so far...

leesmum · 27/08/2007 07:50

Welcome Surreygirl and Cornishkitten

cornishkitten · 27/08/2007 12:08

Ok, i have to ask... (i always feel like i'm being stupid or wasting the midwifes time) but this rhesus negative/ posotive. Mine came back rhesus posotive, so is that okay? My friend had to have injections but i cant for the life of me remember what she was + or - .

And another weird thing maybe someone could just enlighten me, its kinda not anything to do with pregnancy. My mum is A- and my dad is O- but my results came back O+ is that possible if both parents are negs to have a pos child?

jooseyfruit · 27/08/2007 12:28

hi, very new to mn, 3rd child due 28th jan, 20 wk scan on 12/9. i know this is a due feb '08 thread but due to having a extremely spacious and comfortable uterus, previous two (ds 10 yrs dd 7 yrs) decided to stay on well past their due (welcome) dates!
