miniandme · 31/07/2007 22:52

Crikey ive been in maternity get up for about 6 weeks lol!! So kinda glad it is twins and im not just getting very fat very quickly
Im thinking of cancelling my 4d scan now as we will be entitled to a detailed scan on the nhs at 20 weeks,so will find out sex of the babies then too!!
I had a session today with a chiropractor and feel amazing !!Have always suffered a sore lower back and neck being a big heavier at the top end but today have felt no pain for the first time in ages !!Am gonna continue with it for the rest of the pregnancy to try my best to have my body in the best position to deliver the twins myself and avoid a c-section!

lljkk · 01/08/2007 09:56

Oh no, beansprout, I haven't had Msickness the worst, I think ThursdayNext wins that honour (hope it gets better for her soon, too).

2.5 days into feeling a bit "off" but still miles better and not been sick. Mustn't complain... but MSickness seems to have swapped inside me for terrible insomnia -- if it's not one thing it's another, eh?!

Don't most women have "thin days" and "fat days" clothes in their wardrobe? I've lived in my "fat days" jeans for weeks, now.

beansprout · 01/08/2007 10:39

Hurrah, am officially in the 2nd trimester! Someone gave me their seat on the train this morning, so, um, definitely showing then

ExpectingKat · 01/08/2007 11:03

Hi everyone, am new here lol but it seems briln just found out last thursday I am expectin twins on the 12th of feb, excatly 1 month and 1 day after DS1 first bday!I also have DD1 age12 and DD2 age8

lailasmum · 01/08/2007 11:15

I have been offered a 12 week scan that I have to book myself so have been ringing the number to book now for a couple of weeks and its constantly engaged. Its really frustrating. Will be 12 weeks tomorrow so just wondering whether or not to bother and to just wait for the automatically sent out 20week scan.

Egg · 01/08/2007 11:29

WHAT!!! We have our THIRD twin lady on the Feb thread???? WOWEEE. Welcome ExpectingKat!!!

Lailasmum that sounds a bit crap. If you are not bothered about 12 week scan it doesn't hurt to wait til 20 week scan, a lot of ladies don't get a 12 week scan anyway, but if you DO want one, can you push your midwives to try to help you get an appt?

ExpectingKat · 01/08/2007 11:35

Thank you egg and yes wowee is excatly how am feelin at the mo lol
lailasmum have u tried just ringin your antinatal clinic on there main number, sumtimes thats easier and explain to them u r unable to get through to the scan department, they shud put u through.

Lucylou21 · 01/08/2007 11:54

Just returned from my camping holiday after a very stressful weekend! We were meant to return on sunday evening but on sunday morning I started bleeding and ended up in hospital in Dorset. They checked me over and found the neck of my womb was still closed but they booked me in for a scan the next day to make sure everything was okay.
Thankfully everything looked fine and yes there was a baby in there! They thought there might be a couple of bleeds around the placenta but these could also be small harmless cysts.
I had to cancel my nuchal fold scan scheduled in oxford on the same day so I asked the sonographer to check the neck. She said it looked absolutely fine, very reassuring. I saved £140 by missing my private scan but I'd rather not have the worry of bleeding!
The same thing happaned with my DS at exactly twelve weeks although they did date me at 13 weeks and changed my due date. Anyway I'm going to stop rambling now! The bleeding stopped the same day and I'm taking it easy, hoping it doesn't start again.

Congrats on the twins, I'm so pleased for you! And congrats to everyone else who's had their first scan. It is great to see that there really is a baby in there!

ExpectingKat · 01/08/2007 12:53

thanx lucylou
lol glad i cud help all the others mums waitin scans, yes I think its gonna take sum gettin use to makin it 5 instead of just 3, when i have told people i either get histerical laughter or OMG, i don't know which is the best way to take either one

lailasmum · 01/08/2007 15:33

Finally got through to book my scan. Its on friday. I wouldn't have bothered but last time I had my dates changed by about 3 weeks so thought it would be nice to know.

leesmum · 01/08/2007 17:34

ExpectingKat welcome to feb thread and Congratulations

Well ladies i'm now 14+2 and i'm 99% sure i felt Makka Pakka move last night! I felt ds at 16 weeks and i've been told you can feel it earlier than the first. It was very exciting, i couldnt feel it with my hands though but it wont be long. Its a nice feeling (that is until its big enough to get its feet under your ribs!!)

Egg · 01/08/2007 17:38

Ooooooooh Makka Pakka! So exciting. I keep thinking I feel something but then feel my tummy rumbling and realise it was just air bubbles. Can't wait to feel the little fish moving round .

Lailasmum, glad you have your scan sorted. It is nice just to see your little bean, and also as you say to be sure of the dates too.

DS was not impressed with his beef stroganoff . He ate four mouthfuls all excitedly, then spat the fifth one out. I think he found some mushroom...

pobletsmum · 01/08/2007 19:54

Wow expectingKat - congratulations and welcome to the thread.

lailasmum - glad to hear you got a scan appt this week.

I went to FMC for my nuchal scan and bloods today and got fantastic results - Downs Syndrome risk is 1 in 16000! It was well worth paying the money to go there because their scanning equipment is sooooo much better than at my local hospital. Eveything was so clear and they looked at so many different measurements etc. etc. I have about 4 photos, (1 is 3D) of beanie. We told DS our news when we got home this evening. He said 'NO!', then 'Can I see it?' then spent the next few minutes saying that he's got a baby in HIS tummy! 2 of my good friends are due to have babies in the next couple of weeks, so it will be interesting to see his reaction.

I'm just so happy. Now I have the results, and can relax a bit and tell people, I really feel as though it's all real. Wow!

CountTo10 · 01/08/2007 20:04

Hello all!! Hope we're all ok today. I think that I am starting to feel better at long last. Am struggling with being pg though. It's not that I don't want to be, it's just I want to fast forward to the end!!! Oh and get someone else to give birth . I'm sure I'll feel more positive in a couple of weeks when I have a more pronounced bump and I can feel bubs move - at the moment although I'm showing, I just feel a bit podgy!!!

beansprout · 02/08/2007 08:30

Poblet - ds has a baby in his tummy too!

Very exciting to think that we will start feeling them move soon and great that the sickness is starting to pass for a lot of us too.

I need to try and change my childcare for ds (I work 3 days a week) but it's proving difficult and I'm finding it a bit stressful. Still not sleeping too well which never helps anything!

Redbush · 02/08/2007 09:17

Hi CountTo 10 - can empathise with you totally - this was a planned babe and very much wanted but frequently at the moment just feel fat - not really convinced I'm pregnant at all and really don't want to get big and round again. I'd quite like a little one to appear aged about 6 months old. I'm sure that will change but thought I'd let you know you're not the only one feeling that way as I feel quite guilty about it at times

Redbush · 02/08/2007 09:19

Oops sorry - welcome to new ladies and congrats on the twins (quite glad we've got our three though - not sure I could cope with two!)

beansprout · 02/08/2007 09:20

Ohh yes, congratulations on the third set of twins!! We are a one month baby boom, right here!!

ExpectingKat · 02/08/2007 09:50

Morning and thanx all for the welcome

Jo9977 · 02/08/2007 10:12

Welcome and congrats!

morningglory · 02/08/2007 13:40

Wow..three sets of twins! Congrats ExpectingKat. Hats off to you...5 kids, with three under 1 year.

Had my NHS nuchal today (didn't even know I could get one till I was notified on Monday to come in on Thursday...pretty short notice!). Nuchal fold is 0.5mm, which I guess is pretty thin. Get blood incorporated number next week. Tried to have sonographer to get a good look between the legs, but it was difficult to get a good view. I have a private scan next week, and I should get a better view then. I knew at my private 12 week scan the first time around what the sex was, so we'll see!

Glad most people are starting to feel better. I am too, but can't wait to start feeling properly "blooming".

pobletsmum · 02/08/2007 21:16

That's great news morningglory.

You reminded me that I didn't mention on here that at FMC yeterday, sonographer had a good look 'down there' and guessed it's going to be a girl. I think it was more of a guess than anything though. I don't think we'll be finding out the sex at 20wk scan, so it was just a bit of fun to hear what she thought. I will be really happy whether it's a girl or a boy, as long as they are healthy.
