VictorVictoria · 19/07/2007 09:14

M2ba - I will br having this one in the Lindo wing (although prob actually in late Jan as will have elective C/S due to history).

lljkk · 19/07/2007 10:24

Thanks for the feedback bout HG -- I am not dehydrated, & am keeping some food down. I feel guilty for describing my miseries at all when I read Thursday's story. Am a saddo without anybody I moan to in real life, hence moaning at you lot.

Can't do salty food right now, MGlory, but glad to hear the recommendation for sugary fizzy cola, am necking a Dr. Pepper as I write.

Egg · 19/07/2007 10:35

Mmmmmmmmm I want a Dr Pepper now .

Anyone know anything about Royal Hampshire County Hospital? Am guessing that's where I will be giving birth, but can't get booked in until we move and am registered with a GP.

Lucylou21 · 19/07/2007 10:46

I'm feeling much better thankyou, just trying to remember to take my antibiotics! My sickness seems to have gone but it will probably reappear tonight.
I finally got a response from my temporary midwife yesterday and when I explained my concerns about Downs Syndrome she suggested a private nuchal fold scan as they don't even do the blood test until 16 weeks! This way I'll know more at 13 weeks, hurray! The only drawback is the price and the fact that my Dp can't take me so I'll be going with the MIL and her Mum, something that could be awful. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind though.
Good luck to everyone with their first scan soon, it is really exciting!

Ah, but Egg, I had to enter Sainsbury's to get the Dr. Pepper, and just being there makes me want to heave; I have come very close to fainting in Sainsbury's in all my pregnancies.

See, there I go moaning again! Trying to work up nerve to phone FMC.

morningglory · 19/07/2007 10:53

I do have a backup plan (which may very likely turn into Plan A). My father is an American Obstetrician/Gynecologist (now retired). He's coming here 3 weeks prior to EDD, just in case.

He's thrilled. He delivered one ohf his sons (my mother didn't make it to the hospital with her 2nd child, so I guess my efficient delivery comes from her!), and he'll probably get to deliver his grandchild.

lljkk · 19/07/2007 10:59

Wow, MG. I know my dad changed my nappy loads when I was a baby but I couldn't handle thought of him seeing my fanjo now. It's neat that you have the option, though would he be legally allowed to "attend" you, as a medical professional, in labour in the UK?

violeta · 19/07/2007 11:05

Hi everyone,
And I've added my details, too. Nice to see other fellow North Londoners, by the way! I'm going to the Whittington - hope it's okay.

Jo9977 · 19/07/2007 11:47

Hi everyone!

lljkk - don't worry about moaning to us...that's what we're here for! I also find it's easier to be open with you guys as it's so safe and supportive.

interesting seeing where people are from...still waiting for someone near me tho'!!

That is some story MG... it's so hard to know what to expect when it's your first - I'm trying not to think about it!

ThursdayNext · 19/07/2007 12:18

lljkk, moan away. Throwing up is crap, and feeling sick is crap, and so is feeling knackered all the time. At least I get to act like an invalid and slop around in my pajamas and use the net too much...
Hi violeta, nice to see you are going to the Whittington too. I didn't go there last time, but most people I know seem to have found it reasonably good. I think a lot of it is just down to the midwife you happen to get on the day though.
egg, the midwife comes to see you? They don't do that round these parts.
Hmm, don't think I'd fancy having my dad delivering my baby. You don't sound too appalled at the idea morningglory?

leesmum · 19/07/2007 12:26

Good Morning from SUNNY manchester, god can't believe how hot it is today, i've actually got washing out.(how sad am i?)

lljkk i can't believe how rough you are having it, how many weeks are you? It does slow down, i were'nt as bad as you but i felt loads better for having ice pops (the mineral water with fruit flavours ones) and they will help with dehydration. It might be worth a try.

Morningglory i am very impressed with your dad helping out with the birth, i can't think or a better way for your child to meet their grandad!!

Egg, CountTo10 and VictorVictoria good luck for tomorrow, i bet you can't think of anything else!!
Forgot to mention, at scan yesterday they had to tilt me up and put me on my side because baby would't move, it must have been asleep, and then it looked just like ds, all arms and legs all over the place!!
Can't wait to hear how you all get on

Melons2 · 19/07/2007 16:06

Hi all,

I'm a newbie - 9 weeks pg this week...very nervous - had miscarriage last year but hopeful that this time will be different - had early scan last week and saw heartbeat! Very excited but still anxious. Can't wait to have a bump to show off.

Apart from being tired and having really sore boobs and generally yukky - I haven't really felt sick - has anyone else not felt sick? I was worried it was a bad sign but some of my friends didn't feel sick and have had 2 or 3 babies perfectly fine.

Any reassurance welcome!
x

Jo9977 · 19/07/2007 16:19

Welcome melons2!

Glad to hear you're not feeling too bad - I have felt a bit but not actually been sick, others have been great friends with the toilet bowl!! Think you'll find that we've all got very different symptons and most of us are paranoid that we either don't have some or are the only ones that have others...it's par for the course!

Just keep remembering the heartbeat you've already seen which is wonderful!

All the best for tomorrow for Egg, CountTo10 and VictorVictoria - want to hear good news all the way!! Very , still waiting for Tuesday...

Egg · 19/07/2007 17:00

Hi Melons! Great name... I didn't really feel sick at all with my first pregnancy (DS is now 17 months), felt much worse this time but have not actually been sick. We are all a bunch of worrier over here so you are in good company .

morningglory · 19/07/2007 18:01

My father wouldn't is not medically legal here, but it really is in case of emergency. DH is useless (scared of blood, literally fainted when the midwife told him he could cut the cord for DS...good thing he missed the birth, as he was paying the cabbie!).

I figure it would be half an hour into things before I realize what is going on, so I'll have less than 15 minutes or so to get to the hospital. I reallly don't think I'll make it to Queen Charlotte/St Marys in that time. If it is anything like last time, I'l give 3 good pushes and baby will be out. Just need someone to call ambulance, catch baby, know what to do, and be sensible enough to get the APGAR scores.

Added my info to list...

Oh right, MG, that makes sense -- I had missed the bit about previous fast labour. You are lucky to have your dad on hand, then, in the official capacity of "family backup".

Melons, I know so many people who don't get any sickness in pregnancy and then go onto have healthy bouncing babies. I stick voodoo pins into pictures of them at night, of course.

beansprout · 19/07/2007 20:08

lljkk - I don't blame you for the voodoo! I'm struggling a bit with just feeling so sick, I take my hat off to you for managing as well as you are.

Leesmum - really chuffed to hear about your dad AND makka pakka, that's great news.

Morningglory - we must be v near each other, as I am inbetween St Mary's and QC too!

Best of luck to everyone with scans tomorrow - really look forward to hearing all about them

CountTo10 · 19/07/2007 20:12

Hi all - apologies for my absence but between fighting with dp over control of the laptop and being in bed by 8 each night, I just haven't managed to get on!!!

Bubblesbabe - so sorry to hear your news and hope you're ok x

Tiredeness seems to be coming back but then I have been overdoing it at work. Got all panicky on monday cause I had some pains in my tummy but think it was just stress so an evening in bed was prescribed by dp!!!

In all honesty, the closer I get to the scan, the more panicky I get. I'm just so paranoid at the moment. I'm sure I've worried more this time than last time - thought it was sposed to be easier second time round!!!! It has come round quickly though thank god!!!

Went to aqua aerobics last night as I felt I need to do some exercise. I've got quite the urge for junky food at the mo so thought a little gentle exercise might help. Plus my back's been hurting. It was really good fun. i took it a lot easier than the others and didn't do some bits but it was worth it.

Still haven't seen the m/w. Couldn't do last weekend and now I can't get hold of her!! Can't believe I'm having a scan before I've been officially booked in!!!!

Anyway hope everyone is well and here's to the promised land of the 2nd trimester!!!

Egg · 20/07/2007 09:07

Countto10, I am terrified now the day has finally come. Am convinced that even if they are both still there, something will be wrong. Really good luck to you and VV for today.

We have no TV whatsoever thanks to useless Sky, and DS is going mad. It is peeing down, we have a viewing at 11am plus I have a lovely MN lady coming to collect a pushchair I have sold at 11am, and I am stuck as to what to do with DS, who only wants Teletubbies or to throw all his toys across the floor. Gah.

mutha2beagain · 20/07/2007 09:23

Hey all,

Woke up this morning feeling curiously OK - not sure whether to just be relieved or whether I want the reassuring waves of morning sickness - isn't pregnancy a perverse state of mind?

Got DS at home - BT man in the house and it's also buggering up our Sky so there are protests about no telly. Also DSs room looks like a bomb site - have to tackle it today - one of my pet hates - and am trying to bribe him into helping me. Will someone please explain why he absolutely loves to help with the washing up in the kitchen but when it comes to sorting out the lego and Playmobile he takes a running jump?

Jo9977 · 20/07/2007 11:23

Countto10, your post could've been mine - I had a few twinges yesterday and got laid on the sofa by dp, and I'm getting panicky about the scan too...some days I feel like a complete fraud, perfectly alright! which means I agree with you muth2be as well...

Do you think we're starting to get the 2nd trimester symptoms a bit early...maybe when we've all had our scans it will be better and less paranoid!

Thinking of you three today...come back quickly with all your good news!

VictorVictoria · 20/07/2007 11:40

Doing this on a blackberry so will keep it short. Scan fine, downs score low. Phew...

Egg · 20/07/2007 12:44

Great news VV! So glad everything ok. One down, two to go...

Jo9977 · 20/07/2007 13:13

Fab news VV! All the best for this pm Egg and Countto10!
