You've obviously done your research! I wasn't aware that CVS had a 1% chance of producing inconclusive results - I think it is all to easy to get mired in the doom and gloom scenarios of the bad statistics, but ultimately what this is about is getting definitive answers, and for that certain risks have to be taken!

I'm going for CVS for the simple reason that I'm going on holiday in mid-August and I'd rather know the status of the pregnancy fully before I leave - waiting that extra four weeks to be ready to do amnio is not something I can entertain.

Anyway, Nicholaides works at FMC on a Wednesday but they do warn that he can often run over on appointment times so be prepared to wait! Good luck with whatever decision you make.

bubblesbabe · 16/07/2007 13:58

Things not looking good here girls - sorry if this brings you down. I have had some bleeding over the last 24 hours and am wondering if this is it considering what the dr said on saturday about the baby being only 6ish weeks when i thought it was 8. I'm sure I haven't got my dates wrong and so feel as tho' my body is giving up on me! Seeing the heartbeat did give me some hope that the scan was just out slightly!(funny tricks our minds play on us. Have slight cramping pains tho' pretty mild at the mo. Trying to keep my chin up here. Hope you're all ok x

Jo9977 · 16/07/2007 14:09

Oh bubblesbabe, hang in there...really hope it's just superficial bleeding and nothing more serious. Really thinking of you at this time and hope you get some reassuring news soon. Have you seen anyone yet to get checked out?

xx

bubblesbabe · 16/07/2007 14:12

Thanks Jo, haven't seen anyone but have repeat scan on friday already booked so will get the definite answer then - it's so hard having seen a heartbeat - you just assume things will be ok. Am keeping busy and trying to be positive.

beansprout · 16/07/2007 14:22

Seeing a heartbeat is a v positive thing. What colour is the blood? Is it brown or red? Brown is just old blood but red should be checked. Cramping is still a very usual symptom at 6/8 weeks so doesn't mean too much by itself.

Am keeping everything crossed for you.

Egg · 16/07/2007 14:39

Oh bubblesbabe, have not managed to post as much on here lately as been so busy but had to reply to your post. Hope you are ok. With my DS I had a scan at what I thought was 8 weeks, and I turned out to be only 6.5 weeks. DS was born 2 days before his revised due date, and is a healthy lad. However am sure you are more worried about the bleeding. As you know I have had brown spotting a couple of times and I think all is still ok, so I am crossing everything for you. What time is your scan on Friday?

bubblesbabe · 16/07/2007 14:44

Thanks for your support everyone - it does help as noone apart from dp even knows i'm pg! Blood ir brown but turning redder i think. scan is on friday at 11am.
am staying positive til the last minute tho'. x

rozzyraspberry · 16/07/2007 15:46

Bubblesbabe - I hope you're ok. If you are worried I wouldn't necessarily wait until Friday to get checked out. Can you get in touch with your midwife or hospital to try and get some reassurance before then?
Look after yourself.

lljkk · 16/07/2007 16:20

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Bubblesbabe.

I am taking Vitamin B6. 100mg/day, although if I think I may have sicked it up I don't take another -- I read that some American PG women take 250 mg/day! It doesn't seem like it's helping, but who knows how bad I'd be with out it?

Thanks for the info, Muhta, helps with some long-range plans.

Tonite DH has an appointment with GP to request vasectomy. (!)

I have excelled myself with crap food intake today, so far not sicked any of it up:

1 cup soymilk
many bits of chocolate
1 can of Pepsi
3 over-ripe raspberries
10 broken cashews
1 large portion chips
spoonfuls of chocolate spread

Think the chips may reappear, but then again, maybe not.

mutha2beagain · 16/07/2007 16:41

Bubblesbabe

Really sorry to hear you're having a scare - I just hope that your mind can be put at rest on Friday.

Wrap yourself in cotton wool, or keep busy, or do nothing, whatever makes you feel better.

Take care of yourself and sending you warm and positive thoughts.

violeta · 16/07/2007 17:19

Bubblesbabe: Sorry to read about what you're going through and I hope you can see someone soon to put your mind at rest.

Re discussion of reappearing food and suchlike, do I need to be worried about possibly chucking up folic acid? Is it absorbed quickly into the bloodstream, does anyone know? Am I just being a little paranoid?!

Also, just before I venture on my nightly battle on the tube here in London, does anyone else here in London have a Baby on board badge? Is it worth getting one, do you think? Do people respond to it, or are they just as plain oblivious to a badge as everything else?!

beansprout · 16/07/2007 17:20

I don't have much faith in those badges. Your best bet is to just be assertive. Anyone who ignores a bump isn't going to take much notice of a half coded badge.

lljkk · 16/07/2007 17:26

Best to ask your m/w on that one, I think, violetta. I don't take another folic acid if I think I've sicked it up, but I know some women do, and there are few risks caused by taking the occasional 2nd tablet. I reckon I was well-nourished before pregnancy (high veg intake) and I manage to keep the folic acid down most days -- try to take it when I'm least likely to be queasy.

Breakfast cereal is often fortified with folic acid, for instance, if you can eat that.

Egg · 16/07/2007 18:01

Definitely think it is worse to risk double dose of ante natal vits, as far as I know...

As for the badges on London Transport... I imagine people would look at you, maybe smile at your badge and then close their eyes and pretend to sleep. I found EVERYONE used to pretend to sleep when they saw me with my bump, standing up on a crowded tube .

mymissus · 16/07/2007 19:22

Hi all
Back from a wet weekend camping in Cornwall. Due to the awful weather the camping party spent most of the time in the pub getting absolutely plastered..me in corner totally sober and wishing I was at home in warm comfortable bed - pathetic really!

Bubblesbabe - I had a bright red blood episode on Thursday and went into serious panic mode but spoke to the midwife. She said that it can happen around the time your period is due (some women can even get light periods even though they are pregnant), and to not worry too much unless there is clots in the blood or painful cramping. We seem to be due the same time?
Fingers crossed

lljkk · 16/07/2007 19:26

Mutha2: ifyou do get CVS, be advised it can hurt bad -- not always merely "mildly uncomfortable", I think pain is easier to deal with if not completely unexpected.

Egg · 16/07/2007 19:58

Ah yes, mymissus I forgot that. When I had the brown spotting it was exactly 8 weeks after my last period, ie, when a period would have been due. Must remember not to panic this weekend if I get more. Bubblebabe hope all is ok and bleeding has stopped.

leesmum · 17/07/2007 08:48

Good morning everyone.

Bubblesbabe, i know its hard but try not to worry, the fact that you've already seen a heartbeat must be encouraging. Just try to rest until your next scan, or are you trying to get in earlier? Let us know how you are. xx

Egg good luck for fri, i'm sure there will be two in there fighting for room already...

CountTo10 are you excited about fri as well, i think you somehow only feel REALLY pregnant when you get to 12 weeks and have a scan, you can relax a bit.

Well keep all your fingers crossed for me for tomorrow morn..i'll be back on with good news hopefully

Look after yourselves

Egg · 17/07/2007 09:04

Bubblesbabe, any news this morning? Hope you are ok.

Leesmum, can't believe your scan is SO SOON! Exactly 24 hours. Will be fab to go running in to see your dad afterwards with your scan pic. I am nervous about mine, but excited too. Hope i can sleep on Thurs night.

DS and I are off for his swimming lesson in a mo. New pool and no idea how to get there .

VictorVictoria · 17/07/2007 09:14

Jo9977 · 17/07/2007 09:44

How are you Bubblesbabe? Thinking of you!

All the best for scans tomorrow and the rest of the week...guess this is gonna be a busy time for the group!

Bumblesmum · 17/07/2007 11:23

Morning everyone,
I haven't been on for a few days.
Hows are you B/B? Samsmam told me last night.
I got my scan date through today I am so excited, it is booked for next Thursday 26th July.

Okay, I will have a quick read now and find out what has been going on with everyone.

bubblesbabe · 17/07/2007 11:48

Morning lovely MNers and thanks for all your support and best wishes. Unfortunately I'll be leaving you on this thread as have definitely had a miscarriage - things picked up speed last night and thankfully have now calmed down after a lot of pain and bleeding. Feel very sad but feel as tho' nature has her own way of resolving things if they aren't meant to be.
You have all been so kind and caring and I truly wish you all the best for the next few months and I'll be looking out for some exciting announcements in February!!!! Take care of yourselves and as Teejay said think of me as the statistic that keeps one of you safer!!!!! xxxxxxxx I looked at my 3 dcs this morning as they trooped off to school and realised how lucky i am really!

violeta · 17/07/2007 11:53

Bubblesbabe, I am so sorry to hear your news. Big hugx
