bubblesbabe · 13/07/2007 11:24

Pobletsmum - think i heard that babybond have gone bust!

leesmum · 13/07/2007 12:21

H everyone, hope you are all ok.

I've just been trying to catch up with all the posts as i've not been on for ages. So glad that everyone is still here even though some are suffering terribly!

My ms has pretty much stopped altogether now... is that good or bad? I am 11 weeks today so it does slow down at this stage. I really need to stop finding things to worry about!!! I think we've all been doing that though, there would be something wrong if you didn't worry now and again.

Anyway am i on my own next week for 12 week scan or will be anybody else be joining me?
It's on wed at 9am and if all is well i'll be running upstairs to ward b5 to show my dad, he does know because he could see my bump and asked me outright, and then he started crying..which started everyone else off again.

Bye for now, take care everyone x

miniandme · 13/07/2007 12:47

Leesmum im 11 weeks today too and my ms seems to have all but gone, the tiredness still here and the colosal sore (.)(.)
Trying to come off the ad's but feeling very agitated and uneasy so may have to stick to them a little longer me thinks
Babybond havent gone bust,at least not up here in scotland anyway as i booked my 26 wk 4d scan with them just last week.

lailasmum · 13/07/2007 14:07

Its quite strange how in some areas you automatically get a 12 week scan some don't Here the first midwife appointment is at 10-12 weeks. Maybe they are a bit overstretched. And then do offer you a scan at 20weeks.

Redbush · 13/07/2007 15:05

Hi all - just quickly scanned through all the messages. Have joined the rest of you with ms, afternoon sickness evening sickness (!!) and likewise very variable. Not too bad on the tiredness front but then have been on holiday this week and had DH around to help. We had a few days away in West Wales and introduced DD to sea and sand - she loved it. Been joining the worriers this week too as we had a bit of a scare on the way there. An hour into journey the side airbag on my side went off for no apparent reason. DD was the same side of car - bit of a shock and scarey. Thankfully DH is very calm and didn't react or swerve or we would have been in real trouble. Meant me being stuck in services with DD for couple of hrs while he sorted out hire car and obviously I was then a little concerned that the shock would cause a problem. Thankfully all seems ok and we enjoyed the rest of our time away. Think I'm going to be the last to have a scan - MW appointment not until 26th and private scan booked for 9th August - time passing very slowly!
Bumblesmum my levels were fine all the way through my first pregnancy - I had frequent blood tests but as I said only scans on nhs were at 20 weeks and 30something.

pobletsmum · 13/07/2007 15:07

Bubblesbabe - I was just coming round to the idea of using BabyBond too... hmmmmm....

minime it's reassuring to hear that you've booked with them. I spoke to someone on the phone yesterday so maybe it was just a rumour about going bust? (Let's hope so!)

DearBeatrice · 13/07/2007 17:11

i had a babybond scan as despite vomitting incessantly was starting to panic (nhs scan 2 weeks) - v good - fitted me in same day (they open some sundays, not all) - if they had gone under they'd have to stop trading. vicious rumour i suspect. seem to be doing v well financially too

catch up proper later,. sorry to be a stranger .. just so pukey and off for repeat prescription of the medicine now. def going back to epu if no better next week.

hugs to all

CountTo10 · 13/07/2007 21:44

Hi all

Leesmum - I'm at the 11wk stage and my scan's next friday - can't believe it's come round so quickly!!!

I'm also starting to feel a lot better - providing I get plenty of sleep. Think it's just the coming out of the first trim thing.

In our area, you can opt for a private nuchal scan between 11-14 wks and have up to 17 wks to have the blood test. Hopefully seeing the midwife this weekend so will make a decision as to what we;re doing. The scan I;m having next week is only a standard dating scan.

Hormones are still kicking around and it makes me very short with ds sometimes which I hate cause its not his fault. Just trying to keep busy.

bubblesbabe · 14/07/2007 13:47

Had scan this morning and was very shocked to see a little heart beating away. Have had so few symptoms that I was convinced there was no viable pregnancy there. The dr said that i have to go back on friday for another scan as the baby is two weeks smaller than my dates which would put me at just over 6 weeks - could mean that i am just a complete idiot and have all my dates wrong or that the pregnancy is failing tho' he said it looks fine for a 6+2 foetus. can i stay with you lot tho' - i don't like the thought of moving now even if I'm due in March not Feb!
Hope everyone else is ok - this is a worrying business!!

gingermumi · 14/07/2007 19:44

wouldn't want you to leave us! Couple of us have moved the other way (to january) and we have stayed - it's important to keep the bonds going - it must be hard to move to another thread.

Busy getting ready for hols so may not get to chat again before 24th.

Good luck to those with scans next week. Keep well everyone

rascal1979 · 14/07/2007 20:12

Hiya everyone
I've not got a definite date - waiting for my 12 wks scan - but have been given an approx due date of 4th Feb! G sickly, tired and excited!

beansprout · 14/07/2007 20:30

Hi everyone. Am back from 2 glorious weeks in rain soaked Devon. Really glad that you are all still here and a huge welcome to everyone who has joined in the last fortnight

Am struggling a bit tbh. Sickness is pretty bad, esp in the evenings. Eating is very difficult and by about 6pm all I can do is sit and eat ice lollies and feel sorry for myself. That said, am glad to see that it is already passing for some of you - I live in hope!

Leesmum - am really glad that your dad is a bit better.

Egg · 15/07/2007 07:51

Hi ladies. Been a bit quiet as have had my lovely friend staying who is DS's godmother, so we have been busy out and about. Was feeling much better sickness wise but it came back again yesterday, am now 11+2 and also have scan on FRIDAY! So only 5 days to go. Am so sure there will only be one left in there , not for any reason, just paranoid.

Beany, welcome back, glad you are safely home and the little bean is still ok.

Leesmum, almost cried myself at your post about your dad. So pleased he knows now and seems to be doing really well.

Welcome to Lailasmum and Rascal1979 (Rascal think you are new, from your post, but sorry if you have been around for a while , I have lost track completely).

My belly is definitely growing, it doesn't really look big, but I can't do my jeans up, it is impossible to wear a belt, and I am permanently uncomfortable. Need to get some NEW stuff .

pobletsmum · 15/07/2007 11:41

Hi everyone,

Glad to hear some of you are feeling a little better on and off.

Bubblesbabe - please stay. I really hope it's just a mistake with your dates, as you said. We'll all b thinking of you on friday.

Beansprout - good to see you back.

This thread seems to have suddenly slowed down. I hope the rest of you are OK.

pobletsmum · 15/07/2007 11:43

Egg - sorry forgot to say we'll be thinking of you on friday too. I'm sure both your little beans will be waving at you!

lljkk · 15/07/2007 14:03

Pobletsmum -- you are local(ish) to me. I'm ancient enough to get nuchal fold for free from N+N. Would been keen to hear what you think of the FMC if you do go there for Nuchal fold + blood tests. I'll report what I think of N+N.

Struggling last few days to eat anything. Water is okay, but I just can't see the point of eating when it's unlikely to stay down. I keep reading up on hyperemesis and hoping I don't get ketones detected in my urine at scan appt (24 July). Ketones in urine if I'm burning fat rather than carbs for energy. I hate food. I need a kick up the bottom to try to persuade me to keep trying to eat. Have managed several spoonfulls of chocolate spread and a pear today. Plus sips of water. I'll be pleased as punch if all stays down.

On positive side, I got to stay in bed until 1pm today, most of it spent sleeping! So I haven't felt at all "bad" today, yet. Weak and can't concentrate, but not feeling awful, at least.

bubblesbabe · 15/07/2007 15:07

Pobletsmum - thanks for kind thoughts - it really helps at this stage when only dp and i even know i'm pg.
lljkk - having had awful sickness with other 3 babies the only thing i would say is eat absolutely anything you fancy - however fattening/bad for you/difficult to get hold of! I ate ham and chips for about 4 weeks with my last ds because it was the only thing i could even look at.
hope everyone else is ok - you're right pob - things have been quiet here this weekend.

mutha2beagain · 15/07/2007 17:45

Won't it be nice when all of us can talk about something else than feeling hideously sick and tired all the time!

DH has almost given up on me ... I'm spending every spare possible moment languishing in bed ... managed to sleep 12 hours straight on Friday night. Sickness easing off a little bit though although some foods are still total no go areas - can't stomach the idea of eating meat at all or anything fried. Just seems to be bread, cakes fruit and raw veg for the mo.

I'm going to FMC for nuchal on 27th so will let you know about my experience. I can get one at my local hospital but they don't seem to offer dates right until the last minute, so I'm happy to pay for the privilege of knowing in advance - after all their fees go towards neonatal research which is a good thing.

lljkk · 15/07/2007 18:05

Could you gals going to FMC do me a favour? Would you mind asking what they think their miscarriage rates are following amnio? I am wondering what they will tell you verbally, not in printed literature.

Their audits for 2006 suggested they had no m/c after about 700 amnios, but their website spouts the usual NHS statistic of m/c rate of 1%. I suspect website says 1% to cover their bottoms against being sued, but that the real historical rate really might be

mutha2beagain · 15/07/2007 18:56

ljikk

Nicholaides is probably one of the leading obs in the country to carry out CVS and amnios. He works at FMC once a week and he literally carries out these tests day in, day out both at FMC and at Kings. Off the record, he told a friend of mine that he is so sure of his skill in these tests that he will not induce a miscarriage. What you want is a practicioner who is doing this sort of thing all the time and you can't get much better than this guy - you might not necessarily be able to guarantee the same level of practice in your own hospital.

Have you considered CVS? You can at least get it done far sooner and the results are back to you within days - I think the wait with the amnio is longer.

lljkk · 15/07/2007 19:37

I thought that even Nicholaides didn't claim to have such an excellent record with cvs -- I mean, it's a much more damaging procedure, so I wouldn't expect him to. They stick a larger needle in and actually scrape off pieces of the placenta (tissue samples, not merely sipping out a little amniotic fluid).

Also with CVS about 1% of the time, I think, the result is inconclusive; can have a mosaic condition in the placenta but not in fetus, for instance. Whereas only about 0.25% of amnios are inconclusive.

Do you know more-better than me?

I wonder if I book amnio at FMC can I specifically request Nicholaides? I suppose I'll ask! Must make the phone calls this coming week, so thanks for being someone I can discuss this with, first. Do you even actually know which day Nicholaides works at FMC?

If I got a "bad" nuchal fold result at local hospital I thought that I would just straight away have CVS done locally, otherwise to FMC for amnio. I want one of these tests, either way.

beansprout · 15/07/2007 21:03

Good luck for the amnio

Can I just ask if anyone has tried B6 for their morning sickness?

manamana · 15/07/2007 22:04

just checking in to say hi, not been on for a while and just been catching up -hi to new people. have actually started throwing up now which is grim, and am knackered - off to bed now. same scan issues here, mw said come back at around 12 weeks and we'll book you in for your anomoly scan which i'm pretty sure is the 20week one. I didn't ask anywhere near enough questions as i [stupidly it seems] just thought everything would be same as last time. gonna ring on tuesday and find out what's what. night all

scully · 16/07/2007 03:17

My doctor recommended Pyridoxine (b6) to me last week for nausea. Haven't got any yet but may do this week given how I'm feeling. I didn't take anything with dd1 or dd2 but think I might need to this time around.

samsmam · 16/07/2007 08:13

Morning all,
Hope everyone had a good weekend- not much to report here. LO started crawling though! Still really nauseous at night and really tired other than that just a week now until my first MW appointment then my scan date will be arranged.
