@ballanj it is a lot of sweet with me too! But any food really. My OH has just kindly reminded me that I really didn’t want to β€˜let myself go’-my words, honestly. But it seems insatiable, going to go swimming this week to at least me a little bit active!

@badbadbeans I’m hoping to take advantage of that offer!

Is it me or does the second trimester just seem like the easiest trimester in the world compared to this final furlong..?! Reading this thread it's comforting knowing I'm not the only one with a million things on my mind!

@WhatALearningCurve oh that's a shame about the tours. It's never really crossed my mind until I realised that I have no idea what facilities are really there! We're out of area for Bolton but my friends mum is a midwife elsewhere and has recommended it over the ones closer to home so fingers crossed!

With 2 days apart we may be in there at the same time!

Oh I miss the 2nd trimester! I didn't realise how well and able i felt until I got to this bit. I'm wishing away these 8 and a bit weeks but yet still have loads to do! Only 19 more work days til I start annual leave so I'm looking forward to that

Last night I really craved some lemonade. The only one without aspartame in that I could see online was 7up so asked OH to pick some up on his way home. He came back with Fentimans Rose Lemonade. Had about 100ml of it as I was so thirsty but then felt really strange a few mins later. Slight headache and a bit shaky. I looked at the ingredients and it has rose oil in it. I didn't have much but now wondering if I need to be concerned? My midwife always says to use the NHS website for what to avoid but now I'm unsure as rose oil can't be good??

BadBadBeans · 15/01/2019 06:54

@melissa112 oh my MIL drinks that lemonade. I had a little a while ago and it was super sweet - far too sweet for me! That will be why you felt shaky! Sugar rush!!! X

I’m so tired πŸ’€ pregnancy insomnia is horrible 😩
I have my 34 week midwife appointment this morning, not long to go now

WhatALearningCurve · 15/01/2019 08:09

My work commute is going to take me about 3 hours this morning due to road works. I live about 40 mins away but morning traffic usually makes it take about an hour and a half.

This is not helping me commit to work till as close to my due date as possible. Especially if the road works are going to be there for a while!

Sorry everyone is feeling rubbish in one way or another... We are nearly there now, particularly those of you who are due very early in March!

I've been feeling baby constantly these last 2-3 weeks since Christmas and the last couple of days have been really painful. I've been reading up on Braxton Hicks and can't decide if it's that or just baby stretching/this is what I'm supposed to feel. Also definitely can't tell the difference between hiccups and movement but I figure that's not essential as long as I can feel it doing something (def lots that are kicks) regularly.

The Metro today claims that Meghan told someone her baby is due late April or early May so we may have to give her up to the April club. I still maintain she's further along than they're saying and it is closer to March, maybe they'll just claim it was early.

@gronk27 out of curiosity would you mind measuring your mattress, please? We've got a Chicco Dream which is apparently the 'next generation' (just got it because it was the cheapest...) and I've read on forums that each model of crib has slightly different dimensions but I don't know if that's true given they only sell one type of sheet.

@whatalearningcurve that's such a pain. Can't remember what it is you do but can you work from home for a few days each week? Or change your hours so you're driving off peak? Obviously both of these suggestions are unhelpful if you're NHS, a teacher etc though!

Just had my 34 week appointment baby is head down but slightly off so not in a perfect position. Fingers crossed placenta moves before my next scan and he/she stays head down. Everything else was ok Smile

@Wineandchoccy @SquirtlesMumAgain I feel like I'm falling asleep in my feet today! Lots of aches in my hip and when baby has a stretch don't I know about it. Almost fell asleep at my desk this morning too! Only 8 and a bit weeks to go for me πŸ™ˆ

I think having an office to go to would be handy on days like today to keep me going. I fell asleep on the sofa and got woken by the postman... Not fair!
I have to go and do the weekly shop with DS once I pick him up from nursery. It's getting to the point where it is getting tough to push the trolley round... Not fair!
Got a stinking tooth ache too, but haven't been able to get an NHS dentist since we moved. I got an emergency appointment for the same issue last year and basically going to be a case of man up anyway, so I hope it hasn't got any worse and better get saving for the implant I need to replace the tooth

@BadBadBeans Yeh it was really sweet! Felt like I was hungover within a few mins and then got paranoid about the rose oil. But am just moving on and not worrying!

@WhatALearningCurve omg the commute sounds awful! Do you know how long the road works are going to last?

@cardboard33 I've felt a lot more movement in recent weeks too. He was quite active anyway but like you, it's almost constant now. I've had a few times where it feels like baby is pushing out of me and it's quite painful. But not sure if this is baby stretching or stomach contracting and therefore BH? Hard to know!

@Wineandchoccy glad to hear the appointment well well. The lack of sleep is exhausting (no pun intended) isn't it. I'm looking forward to annual leave and hoping to get a lot of napping in before baby comes! If I'm not kept awake by needing the toilet, or baby moving, or hip/pelvis pains...!

@SquirtlesMumAgain I feel for you, toothache can be so horrible can't it. Hope you have some luck finding a dentist. And how rude of the postman!

@melissa112 @cardboard33 a few more weeks apparently! Been trying to change my hours / work from home for the last few months but work are basically having none of it unless there's a medical reason. It seems they'd rather have me in the office late than at home working on time. Even though we're not customer facing and calls can come through to my mobile!

@WhatALearningCurve that's a shame that your work aren't a bit more accommodating. Is the commute the same on the way back too?

We're really struggling with names. We thought we had a few we liked but now none of them seem right. It's weird naming him when he's not here yet - I feel like I need to meet him before settling on a name so we're probably going to end up waiting until he's born.

What happens if you don't come up with a name within 6 weeks anyway?! Maybe they name them for you haha Wink

Our house has been a DIY nightmare the past few months but it's just about starting to get settled. I think we might actually be done with it all in the next few weeks. I can't offer any advice as I don't really know how we managed to get it all done ahaha but it's somehow come together. It was very stressful and I felt so anxious about it all.

I've told my husband to take the lead on baby/house decisions until the baby gets here lol I'm too mentally and physically exhausted to think straight. I just want someone else to think for me. Anyone else feeling like that? . He bought a car seat today without any input from me which made me a bit nervous Blush but I'm grateful he's taking the responsibility out of my hands.

Not sure I could pass over the big decisions, especially when it comes to safety and operating things!

@WhatALearningCurve That's an awful commute hope you were home reasonably this evening. My commute was 50 mins then went to 1hr20 with road works. Luckily I now do it once a week and hotdesk 30 mins away twice per week home work once and taking Wednesdays on A/L atm.

@Wineandchoccy all sounding good! Hope that placenta shifts for you. DS was slightly 'off' which was why he was stuck I don't understand why the MWs couldn't pick that up?! I'll be constantly at them this time.

Was getting office colleagues stories about how quickly their 2nd children were born- a lot of "didn't think I was in established labour" and babies born within a few hours. Really hope that's true! Mum's labours got harder with each subsequent child Confused Don't want to follow her footsteps haha.

Rang to make an appointment with the physio at the building where I passed out 2 weeks ago and got offered one for tomorrow AM lol. Hopefully not a repeat performance!! Last night pelvis hips thigh bones in agony - just feel like I've been kicked in all those places and I'm aching 😣

Also TMI but I had to wear a pad last night- with the weight of baby now head butting my bladder alllll night or even getting up to toilet I have to go ASAP and I am losing the strength to hold it in Blush 10 more weeks of this to go Hmm

@HidCat Yeah he's cute... He's also wily. This evening he was talking about what he would like to do when the baby is born and he comes to visit us in hospital. He said he would like to read the baby 'Puffin Peter' (one of his favourite books) and also give the baby a cuddle. Then he said 'The baby can sleep in my bed.'
'Oh, how kind,' DH said.
'And I will sleep in Mummy's bed,' said my crafty little scamp.

@cardboard33 I didn't get Braxton Hicks with DS but occasionally I've felt so tight and uncomfortable with this one that I've wondered if that is what I'm experiencing. I've tried poking my tummy when I feel like that though and it still gives a bit, so I don't think it is a BH contraction...

@melissa112 yay for moving on and not worrying! I know how hard that can be. Feels good to achieve it, though! Honestly though, I drank that lemonade a few weeks ago and I didn't think twice about it.

@Harley8888 You get a cross letter from the registrars. I know this because it happened to us! To be fair we had gone to register him in the nick of time (it took us ages to pick a middle name), but he was born in Bristol and we went to register him in Somerset - apparently that is a no-no. So our forms had to be sent through to Bristol, meaning we actually missed the six-week deadline and got an official chasing letter!

Getting all the baby bits together now. I've managed to find a pram among local friends for Β£50, so that's that sorted. Ordered a set of 40 Cheeky Wipes - we still use DS's for wiping his hands before and after meals, so I want two sets so I don't run out. Still got to order a fresh mattress for the Moses basket - I've dithered about this but decided that ultimately it's not worth the risk of reusing one when they aren't that much money. I also need a new changing mat as ours is in tatters - even DH has said, 'Is a changing mat on your list of things to buy?' - so it must be bad if he's noticed and is willing to spend out on a new one! Then it's all the disposable bits for my hospital bag - nappies, breast pads, maternity towels, knickers. I think I have everything else!

I am going to take DS out shopping with me to choose a special sleepsuit for him to give to the baby as well. I thought then we could put the baby in it when DS first comes to visit, perhaps. And the other thing I need to sort out is a present for DS from the baby! Bribery...

πŸ˜‚ the things kids come out with! DS has also offered for the baby sleep beside him and he can feed him through the night Grin

I only just minded about a present 'from the baby' I still have 2 Santa presents to exchange as he got them as presents so that will sort that!

Glad things have settled for you @HidCat and probably left you more tired though πŸ˜ͺ
