@AssumeItWasSomethingClever that sounds like harassment. I would report it to the police just incase he did ever arrive at the door they may respond to you more quickly as u have previously informed them of concerns, explain you are heavily pregnant too as u are more vulnerable. I hope it never comes to it tho, I too would also find that intimidating. Hope u are ok x

melissa112 · 07/02/2019 17:11

@Exhaustedmummy1811 hope you're doing ok. I'm glad you're getting a close eye kept on things and reassuring about baby's scans being good.

@SquirtlesMumAgain really pleased to hear that movements picked up after you being worried.

@Gronk27i think they should see you at one of the hospitals down in London. I think my only consideration would be how to get baby home in the unlikely event they came early as @babycatcher411 mentioned

@WhatALearningCurve that's really frustrating! I'm glad you are feeling more reassured after speaking with your friend and hope you get your scan through soon!

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I think I'd ask the police to log it just incase. Hope once you block the number he will leave you alone and at least the insurers will know about it too!

@ballanj glad that all was good with the movements when you went in. It's so worrying isn't it.

@Badbadbeans you're much more organised than me! I put muslins in the dryer and they came out a bit wrinkly so now wondering whether I should iron them, feeling a bit jealous of all the smooth ones haha.

Went in for my second monitoring this week following reduced movement on Sunday evening.
They've asked me to go in twice weekly and then a scan in 2 weeks, well maybe only a week now as it was nearly a week since my last one.

Normally after the monitor I leave feeling reassured but definitely didn't today. Babys heartrate was over 200 for a while, then 180 then between 160 and 170 for absolutely ages but with no movement. Normally when he's not moving it's around 145ish. It did settle to 140-150 for the last half hour though. But throughout the whole hour I only got 5 movements. They came in to ask me to drink some cold water about 10 mins before I was due to come off and said there had only been a couple of movements at that point. I got a couple more in the last 10 mins but normally his heart rate increases with the moves but it just stayed the same this time

They said the trace passed and I was ok to go home but just don't feel that was normal for my baby. Especially considering normally on the monitor I'm getting tonnes of movement. I think the heart rate has worried me more as he wasn't moving at that point and just seemed so high.

They said I could come in tomorrow if I was concerned for monitoring so I'm going tomorrow after work and to ring triage later today if I'm unhappy. When I said he's barely moved compared to normal she said 'well he's had 5 movements'.

I dunno, they obviously know their job so wouldn't let me go if they were concerned but felt a bit teary on the drive to work afterwards. Couldn't really focus on him while at work so now I'm home I'm gojng to look out for any reduction. Just feel so confused about what s normal if 5 and a high heart rate is ok? Maybe I've been over reacting about reduced movements before this. I just have no idea now!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 07/02/2019 17:47

Thanks ladies. I'll definitely call the non emergency police line tomorrow. Since posting I've had 4 more calls that I've ignored...

Gronk27 · 07/02/2019 18:09

@babycatcher411 DH will have to drive to London with the car seat in the car and pick us all up! He would hate that haha!

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 07/02/2019 18:26

@mellisa112 thank you for checking in, I have another afi scan tomorrow, but bump feels smaller again so not holding out much hope.
I'm sorry your having to go through this worry, I would defi itely go back tomorrow to have your little man rechecked. Since my fluid has dropped my little lady doesn't move as much plus with an anterior placenta it's harder to tell sometimes. I find just laying on my side with my hand on my bump usually gets a reaction, it takes 20 minutes or so sometimes. Also try a warm bath or cold coke that often gets her wiggling. Hoping everything gets back to normal for you

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 07/02/2019 18:29

@miami81 thank you that's reassuring to hear, I know at this stage baby has a great chance its just so over whelming right now. I've got another afi scan tomorrow so I'll let you all know how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed I don't get admitted just yet.
Thank you @angelmiracle I'm happy she is growing well and piling on the pounds so I'm clinging to that right now and just keeping everything crossed

babycatcher411 · 07/02/2019 20:54

@Gronk27 in which case go for it. There is nothing so desperately required that the hospital can’t supply something that will do for the short term, and as you say, your mum can nip out and grab a few bits.

@SharonO225 doesn’t sound anything pregnancy related as far as I can think. The red flag for itching in pregnancy is usually a generalised itch, normally starts on the hands or feet, and isn’t normally associated with a visible rash/bump. In which case we’d be thinking possible obstetric cholestasis.
I would keep an eye on it, and if it doesn’t settle soon id probably get the GP/practice nurse to check it out in case it was a reaction to something you’re unaware of.
I’ve certainly found personally my skin has been much more sensitive to anything and everything since being pregnant.

babycatcher411 · 07/02/2019 20:59

So today the community midwife has been round to do the home assessment for if we can achieve a home birth. We did a semi-birth plan because they like to have certain things written down for home births. It all seemed to a bit strange. I obviously knew everything that I wanted, but it was odd being the one asked the questions, not asking them!
It’s all exciting, and a bit scary. It’s very real now!
Also the pool is way bigger than I anticipated! Thankfully will fit okay but we reckon on it taking 1.5hrs to fill because we have crap water pressure!! πŸ˜©πŸ™ˆ

Fingers crossed this baby continues to behave with his growth and we’re not back on plan-b again after the next scan.

SquirtlesMumAgain · 07/02/2019 21:32

Fingers crossed for you @babycatcher411

I have my birth plan appointment with the consultant a fortnight tomorrow. I can't remember what even happened last time!

HidCat · 07/02/2019 22:28

I hope everyone is doing ok tonight. Feeling shattered but wanted to check in before I go to bed.

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I would contact the police and give them the details, it definitely sounds like harassment to me if he's switched numbers in order to call you after being blocked. At the very least they should be able to give you advice.

35 weeks tomorrow πŸ™€ it's coming to an end (beginning?) so fast!

SharonO225 · 07/02/2019 22:41

Thank you @babycatcher411 just wanted to be certain it was nothing to be alarmed about. I have another app next week so will ask then if it's still there. I'm thinking it might be coz I'm always lying or leaning on my left side, it might be friction or pressure or something causing it πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ.

I mentioned yesterday to my community midwife that I was considering a home birth this time as a possible option if my labour was to start early when the boys are at school (if boys are home I'm just planning on hosp) she didnt mention anything about a visit, I'm not due to see community midwife again until 38wks and Iv never made it past 38wks before.. maybe I should ring them and enquire just incase it's left too late

SharonO225 · 07/02/2019 22:44

@HidCat I'm also 35wks tomorrow, it's all getting exciting now Grin. Think I might start putting the waterproof mats on our mattress soon just incase I'm taken by surprise lol I'm praying she comes early at 38 like all my others too

ballanj · 07/02/2019 23:00

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I second what @SharonO225 says. Keep a log of the calls and report to police. They will have a record of the incident I presume so it's best to flag it up with them, seeing as he has your address. Also hassle your insurers and make them aware of this guy's behaviour aswell. They might put some pressure on his insurers who may well have a word in his ear.

ballanj · 07/02/2019 23:13

@melissa112 oh bless you I understand why you must be worried. No matter how many times you're seen, if you're still not happy, keep going back until you feel reassured. Like many others have said on here, it's such a tough one to call sometimes. All we can go on is our gut. If it doesn't sit well with you, then do what you have to do. Rationally thinking, I know my baby has some days more quiet than others. Some days it's constant movement and others more sporadic, so for me, it was hard to know when to make the call to have him monitored. The fact I felt compelled to ring triage was all the confirmation I needed that for me, I needed that monitoring and reassurance.

Thanks @babycatcher411 for your view on the growth chart plotting. I have my 36 week check on Tuesday so will mention to my midwife then.

We have our local trust's parentcraft class this Saturday at 10am. It's 4 and a half hours long! What do you guys who have been there/done it think of these classes for first time mums? I never got round to signing up for NCT antenatal so this will have to do. My other half keeps asking if he has to go...! I've told him yes he bloody well does!!

Angelmiracle · 07/02/2019 23:24

@SharonO225 you've just reminded me!! I need to get waterproof mats also. My friend kept one in her car as well πŸ˜‚

OP posts:
SharonO225 · 07/02/2019 23:36

@Angelmiracle πŸ˜‚ I still have a pack of small disposable mats from when I had my daughter, they are a pack from amazon ID care ones, I think they were about Β£8. I kept some in the glove box of the car for the ride to hosp too lol, and used them in my changing bag to lay over my changing mat when cleaning up poo-splosions they're brilliant. They got me out of a right few messes with breastfed babies poo. For the bed I have a reusable kylie pad that can be washed and tumble dried, I got the reusable during my last pregnancy too and have used it on my little girls bed when she has been ill and will use during potty training so well worth having.

babycatcher411 · 07/02/2019 23:46

@SharonO225 I would double check in case it’s been missed by accident. It’s normal to run through a few basic checks- that it’s a suitable environment, you’ve got sufficient heating, any access concerns if an ambulance is required etc. It’s a logistics/planning exercise more than anything.

We also have a home birth box as well that she delivered, which the basic equipment in it. I think some hospitals carry these in staff cars instead but I would imagine the home-check still needs doing.

babycatcher411 · 07/02/2019 23:51

We have a similar reusable pad to the Kylie, my mum bought me it 11 years ago when I was pregnant with DS1 just in case my waters went in bed. It was subsequently used for potty training, has been used for multiple things during the renovation of the house when a waterproof mat was required, and has been bleach washed and back on the bed for the last few weeks. We’ve bought a full waterproof terry-towel mattress protector now though, as I decided if there was a chance I ended up delivering on the bed, the reusable sheet wouldn’t cut it.

SharonO225 · 08/02/2019 07:48

@babycatcher411 oh I think I might just give them a ring just to make sure I have the choice there then. Looking at the news this morning I think it would be a better option for me as they have just announced one of the main roads to the hosp is closing on the 4th of March for 5weeks πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ traffic is awful where we live so this diversion is going to make it even worse esp if i go into labour at a peak traffic time πŸ™ˆ this is my 4th and my longest labour was like 2.5hrs, my last was an hr from start to finish so certainly don't want stuck in traffic with this one lol πŸ˜‚

SquirtlesMumAgain · 08/02/2019 09:24

We still have puppy training pads left over from DS. Whilst not environmentally friendly it was the least of my concerns in our tiny old home. They are much cheaper than anything made for giving birth and often bigger too!!!

SharonO225 · 08/02/2019 10:33

Agree @SquirtlesMumAgain the puppy training pads are a lot cheaper and do the same job Smile

PassTheAfterEights · 08/02/2019 11:57

@badbadbeans @ballanj @angelmiracle don't shatter my illusions now ladies - surely a first newborn is all about gazing beatifically at its peaceful sleeping face while smugly dealing with mountains of ironing in half a morning's work, while the slow cooker stews something amazing and nutritious for dinner and the dog walks herself, picking up milk on the way back?! πŸ˜‰

This early arrival talk has me equal parts excited and fking terrified we are going to be mid-kitchen replacement when we come home 😱 redoubling speed at which I do everything today.

Reusable / washable / disposable pad chat - is this just for waters breaking? Hadn't even considered that it might happen while asleep - presume they're for saving the mattress / car seats? NCT lady seemed to suggest it might not be clear whether waters have gone or not, often there isn't much - is this not the deal? Would a good towel suffice?

I swear the gulf between what I think I need to have in the house ahead of a baby and what I actually am going to need to order from the Prime fairy would fill a book that I will write during the relaxing afternoons of newborn bliss as described above

Wineandchoccy · 08/02/2019 12:04

Definitely get something on the bed just in case @PassTheAfterEights my waters went in bed last time with an audible pop and soaked the bed

PassTheAfterEights · 08/02/2019 12:06

Thanks @wineandchoccy on it now x

ballanj · 08/02/2019 12:09

@Wineandchoccy @PassTheAfterEights I hadn't even thought of pads on the bed for waters going! Is this something I ought to get?! I think I'd go for a reusable one as it might serve another purpose afterwards like @babycatcher411 was mentioning earlier I think?
