I don't have a problem with her in our bed but don't want a toddler and baby there. I think she'd accidentally wake the baby and she sometimes pushes me out of bed in her sleep. She'd also probably want to sleep between me and the baby. May have to try a gro clock but she's still cuddled to sleep or has someone stay with her at the moment.

@1stTimeTina my standards have definitely dropped. I no longer do a big clean for my parents staying once a week to look after dd. Since having dd and especially being pregnant I've had to get less bothered by it. I still want the house to be clean but I definitely do less deep cleaning.

@hayley013 I went through a lot of pineapple last time too (didn't do anything). Never managed to burn my tongue though! Sounds painful!

@welshweasel hope everything comes back clear and you're feeling more movement again soon.

lanalawr · 19/01/2019 14:30

@powkin impressive split! 😆

@maxiflump1I'm sure it's going to be difficult at the time but it'll all be worth it if it works out! I'd be more worried about the toddler than newborn I think. Maybe that's just my toddler though. 😂

welshweasel · 19/01/2019 14:59

I’m back home - they wanted to keep me in for observation but I literally live round the corner so I didn’t see the point. They’re worried about the pain I’ve got in my scar so I’m under strict instructions to go back if any more pain of tightenings and they’ll do a section over the weekend. Eek! Hoping all stays calm and I can hold on for my elective on Tuesday.

chocpop · 19/01/2019 15:10

@welshweasel hope everything's okay! Take it easy and hopefully everything will pan out the way you want it to. At least there's not too much of a difference between the weekend and Tuesday anyway even if it comes to that :)

Had cramps from last night on/off. Not that sore, but sore enough that you're aware of each one. Just reminds me of the pains I used to get a few days before my period came. I also got a stitch last night just above my left hip that seemed to stay for hours, but I assume that's just from the baby stretching or something? 38 weeks today so I'm just hoping all these cramps is the sign of something starting this week. I don't think I can do another 2/3 weeks of stressing over every little niggle Smile

Yakadee · 19/01/2019 15:15

@welshweasel - oh wow, get yourself home and chill out. Fingers crossed baby stays put for now 🤞

@chocpop - I'm 38 tomorrow so right behind you! I know what you mean about stressing. I was at maternity assessment as concerned about baby's movements and she's totally fine (thankfully) xx

Babynum2 · 19/01/2019 17:33

Im back in hospital with baby Harry we had our midwife app and they admitted us for blood test and it came back his jaundice levels r really high still so back to having some light therapy the only upside is as the midwife never discharged us we r back on delivery and i can stay with him x

Yakadee · 19/01/2019 17:45

@Babynum2 - I'm so glad you can be there with him but poor little love. Hope you're both OK and home soon. X

Notquiteagandt · 19/01/2019 18:08

@Babynum2 aww poor little mite. He has been a tough cookie so far so sure hes got this 💪

Check if the hospital is a unicef baby friendly hospital. They have certain extra rules around small babies being with mothers at all time so they have to accomodate it. (Obvs scbu etc are differant) but it is handy to know in future. Hopefully wont be an issue but always handy to know.

Yakadee · 19/01/2019 20:31

Has anyone got any sling recommendations? I didn't really use one with my first but think it'll come in handy this time x

AvoidingMarking · 19/01/2019 20:43

Hope he recovers quickly @Babynum2

AvoidingMarking · 19/01/2019 20:45

What sort of sling are you looking for @Yakadee? I tried a lot from my local sling library before we bought ours.

Had a wrap for the first four months of dd

twiglet · 19/01/2019 20:46

@Yakadee I would Google your closest Sling library to try out different ones!
The one in the Scottish baby box is easy once you know how there are probably loads unused on Facebook market place and the like. Not sure if people would charge other than postage which would be a bit cf given it comes free!

AvoidingMarking · 19/01/2019 20:47

This is the main thing to watch for:

Due February 2019: here come the babies!
Yakadee · 19/01/2019 20:47

@AvoidingMarking - I'm not sure honestly? I hear material ones are better to begin with but not sure? I saw this on Amazon and it gets good reviews. What do you think?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B074CH6FWB/ref=mpssa114aa_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1547928609&sr=8-4&keywords=baby%2Bsling&dpPl=1&dpID=41eMqkUe%2BJL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1

Yakadee · 19/01/2019 20:48

@twiglet - thanks. I'll look into that.

@AvoidingMarking - that's really helpful xx

Since2016 · 19/01/2019 20:51

@yakadee If you have no experience with slings then I’d echo a visit to a sling library.

I’m going with a Integra (was connecta) and maybe a Boba stretchy wrap for the first few weeks. You’ll need to find your preference - e.g. buckle vs wrap etc and also how long you plan to use it. I used my connecta with DD from 10 months till she was 2.5!

Since2016 · 19/01/2019 20:52

Ps. Be v careful with eBay sellers etc! Facebook sling resale groups best for second hand!

lanalawr · 19/01/2019 20:52

@Yakadee I used a close Caboo for dd (like the one that you posted but you don't need to tie anything). I was worried I wouldn't be able to tie it properly and not very confident in the beginning. I then moved onto a beco Gemini (one with buckles) and a woven wrap because I was more confident to try to tie one myself. It's a personal choice though and I tried all of mine at a local sling library first. Different people find different ones comfy. I've discovered I like buckle carriers where you can cross the straps and find them more comfortable than when I don't cross them.

Yakadee · 19/01/2019 20:54

@Since2016 - I'm probably the only person in the world who's never bought anything from Ebay - I won't be.

I'll defo look up the sling library. I'm just thinking it'll be easier to have my hands free if I'm out and about with my nearly 3 year old x

AvoidingMarking · 19/01/2019 20:55

@Yakadee that's the same make as the one I've got. We really got on with it - it's actually in the washing machine now ready for the next one. Comes in really nice prints too.

They can be a bit fiddly to get the hang of at first but there are loads of videos on YouTube of how to tie them. I ended up wearing mine loose around me most of the time (when driving too) as it was easier to keep it on and just tighten it when she was in it. I did a dance classes with her in it every week too!

AvoidingMarking · 19/01/2019 20:59

Also. There are lots of fake Ergo carriers around so if you try one of those and like it make sure you see the receipt from where it was purchased!

My local sling library are quite active on Facebook and have a group twice a week so worth looking on there too

Since2016 · 19/01/2019 21:03

It’ll defintely be easier with a sling! It’s a total no brainer for me!! Sling libraries are great. I’d never heard of the carrier we ended up with and tried on other ‘big’ makes which I just didn’t like at all.

Yakadee · 19/01/2019 21:07

@AvoidingMarking - it's got really good reviews so I'll defo consider this one. When I do decide on one I'll probably just get it from Amazon (got some vouchers from work too).

Sounds daft, do you need baby to know which you'll like? I'd rather get it before she arrives but didn't know whether you need baby there (Don't judge my silly baby brain lol) x

AvoidingMarking · 19/01/2019 21:25

@Yakadee I think Close caboo or stretchies are better in the early stages. Dd is petite so she stayed in it for 6 months at least. If you def get one of those, you won't need baby to be there. Once they get bigger and heavier then the sling groups are good. Some of the most popular carriers (Tula and connecta) I didn't get on with at all

I think YouTube both carries and see which you think is easiest. There's a link to how to tie the stretchy wrap here:

And caboo here .

They are basically the same but the caboo is pre-tied.
