Part 3 already!

A list of those already on the bus. Welcome to newbies. It's the countdown to 12 week scans. I think I have nearly a month to wait though :-(

Hi, hope everyone doesn’t mind if I join. Not 100% sure on due date as I came off the pill, got pregnant straight away and can’t remember the exact period date. I thought it might of been 3rd sep but could be any time up to a week before that so end of August!
This is baby no2 for us and my little girl will be 2 in February. Booking appointment 22nd jan

Cobblestones · 09/01/2019 15:26

Oh @bakingabean I’m sorry to hear you’re feeling poorly too. I only just had that one good day think it was a Sunday. When I felt sick again Monday it really did hit me hard mentally. I’ve been nauseaous every day this week and puked a couple of times a day on average. I’ve resigned myself to this not going away any time soon. I know every where it says by week 10 it should start to ease up but I’ve been warned by friends that it could be week 14 when I start to feel better.

@milly all the best for your scan. Completely understand fearing the worst even if there is no reason to.

Is anyone battling headaches on top of everything else? I’ve been waking up every day with a dull ache which sticks around all day. Not sure if it’s coz I’m sleeping too much or having crazy dreams or if it’s just the hormones.

Cobblestones · 09/01/2019 15:29

Oh and I haven’t been able to have water since forever! Mostly just drink bottled apple juice which is the one thing I seem to tolerate. Have tried a couple of squash drinks but they didn’t work for me.

avacadooo · 09/01/2019 15:32

@Cobblestones I've had headaches too but I think that's cause of all the throwing up and not eating that I had them.

Had my booking appointment and my midwife is lovely! Got the folder of doom to lug around with me and loads of information that my head feels like it's gonna explode, also some vitamins since I stopped taking them when I first got sick cause I couldn't swallow.
It was also nice to have some sympathy for the hyperemisis from her too and reassuring to hear she doesn't care if I'm living of toasties cause I'm at least eating 😂
I need a nap now!

lickencivers · 09/01/2019 16:08

Everyday at 3pm like clock work I am So tired it's horrific Sad

OctoberGirl91 · 09/01/2019 16:11

Got my scan date for 4th Feb at 1pm so nervous I will possibly be a little before 12 weeks around 11 I think, as midwife submitted dates of LMP and I know I ovulated late. Let's hope we get to first scan, really tired today, nausea and dry retching this morning. Hope everyone is well xx

Cobblestones · 09/01/2019 16:26

@avacadoo oh nooo you have hyperemesis hug hope you’re holding up ok. Glad to hear your midwife was lovely.

starryeyed13 · 09/01/2019 16:31

Sorry to hear so many of us are feeling so rotten. I bought some travel sickness wrist bands from Boots yesterday and have to say (touch wood) it appears to have really helped my nausea. Have been feeling much better today and had much more of an appetite. Might be worth a try (though like everything might not work for everyone).

Back to work properly tomorrow (have been WFH all week) and kind of dreading it. Is anyone else self-employed?

KMic · 09/01/2019 16:43

Afternoon ladies,

So I'm currently a bit worried about a letter I've just had from the hospital, has anyone else had anything like this either this time or with previous pregnancies ...

Apparently I have a d negative blood group so they need to test to see if my baby will be d negative or d positive ... if it's d positive I will have to have some 'anti d injections' to stop my blood creating antibodies that would basically attack the baby causing problems.

Of course I'm now worrying because i'm assuming the worst. So I just wondered if anyone else has had anything like this before?

Xx

sunshine1987 · 09/01/2019 17:22

@kmic I haven’t but there was a risk I would have a rehsus negative blood type as my mum does. It’s absoloutely nothing to worry about, my mum had it with both me and my sister and I’ve done a lot of reading up in preparation. The test with baby is non invasive and they just test their blood once and you just get one injection x

Twitwooo · 09/01/2019 17:23

@KMic I don't have any personal experience with this but just want to help out your mind at ease.

The nhs website has very good information about this - www.nhs.uk/conditions/rhesus-disease/

In short, this is mainly a risk for a second rh positive baby born to a rh negative mum - what may happen is that during the first pregnancy with rh positive baby your body can be exposed to their blood and will try to protect itself and 'fight off' the intruding blood type, this exposure is called sensitisation. The injections help remove the baby's blood cells when you are most likely to be exposed to them so that does not occur.

If the mother doesn't get these injections and sensitisation occurs, a second pregnancy with a rh positive baby will be much more likely to cause a reaction as the mother's body is more at the ready to deal with the different Rhesus factor blood type, then baby might have to deal with rhesus disease.
But no one needs to worry too much about that as you just get the injections from first pregnancy and everyone is safe and happy! At least that's how I understand it

Hopefully someone here can talk from experience and put your mind completely at ease

KMic · 09/01/2019 17:26

Thanks @sunshine1987 and @Twitwooo ... that's kind of what I had assumed from what I read ... you can't help but worry though! X

Findingaway · 09/01/2019 17:29

Adding my name in. I’m due 1st August. Had my midwife appointment today. They hadn’t booked my scan, so I won’t be scanned now until 15weeks. I’m assuming this isn’t normal?!?

abw94 · 09/01/2019 18:03

Evening ladies sorry I've been very quiet recently! Had my midwife appointment today and went through a lot which was great, had bloods done and urine sample tested. As I am 8+4 I should get my appointment in the post in the next two weeks. However they booked my 16 week appointment there and then which was great to get it in the diary.

I've joined our maternity app - does anyone else have this? And found it informative?

PinkLady89x · 09/01/2019 18:30

Hi @KMic
I have a negative blood and when I had my miscarriage, I had to have the anti d jab. It's just in case any blood mixes but if you have the jabs you'll be fine. It's more about future pregnancies anyway. They said the baby can need medication when born if the mum has been sensitised. Nothing to worry about but obviously an extra thing for people like us x

KMic · 09/01/2019 18:41

Aww thanks @PinkLady89x good to know there is someone else out there in the same boat xx

Rachellev · 09/01/2019 18:44

Just need a rant!!! I work full day with special needs and I am soooooo tired when I come home have a 2 hrs rest but then can't fall asleep until late again. And then the vicious cycle starts again

RiseYeSunkenShips · 09/01/2019 19:14

@KMic yep me too, i'm O- and my partner is A+, as is my daughter who was born via C-Section, you'll get 2 jabs thru pregnancy, but if you have any major bumps/falls etc and there's a possibility yours and the babies blood could mix you will need to go an have another Anti D jab (I think it would have to be car crash/falling down the stairs level bump from what I remember last time!)

It's nothing to worry about really :)

KMic · 09/01/2019 19:16

Oo thanks for the reassurance @RiseYeSunkenShips xx

RiseYeSunkenShips · 09/01/2019 19:27

@KMic no worries :) forgot to mention if you have any bleeds/spotting etc it's worth checking then if you need an injection too (Hopefully you wont have any problems tho!

mrsof20118 · 09/01/2019 19:29

@Bakingabean I read that the hormones hit a peak when the placenta fully takes over so it could be that

Kcjoe · 09/01/2019 19:30

Hey everyone. I'm keeping up with this thread. I have my appt with Dr on Saturday to sort antenatal/midwife etc. I have my next scan on Monday to see where baby is in relation to my coil. And hopefully have it removed. I started a new job on Monday this week. I got sickness for the first time the day before 😫 great timing! I've been wearing sickness bands and snacking all day. So far so good however today was a close call. I felt so sick this afternoon. No idea how I'm going to cope and hide it. I'm so tired. I had a nap in my car at lunchtime. I sat with my trousers undone all day! Luckily I had a long cardi on x

Kcjoe · 09/01/2019 19:34

I also bought these off Amazon and they do help ease sickness at the time of eating them! I'm 7 weeks tomorrow. I hope it doesn't get worse 😭

Bakingabean · 09/01/2019 19:36

@mrsof20118 hopefully it starts to die down a bit if it is at its peak.

I feel bad complaining about nausea when some of you guys have hg. Compared to that I just feel a bit queasy I guess!

@Kcjoe I found the bands helped a bit too. I stopped wearing them when I started to feel better so I might have to start again!

Kcjoe · 09/01/2019 19:37

It won't let me attach the photo. They are peppermint oil bon bons with B6. By Myrtle & Maude x
