September 2019 babies?

abi2790 · 27/12/2018 14:30

Do we have any September due dates yet?

This one came as a big shock for me. I had my coil out on 30th November and must have conceived pretty much straight away. Considering it took quite a long time to get DD, the BFP was a big shock!

This one will be my third!

Hi,

Congratulations to ones that have recently had a positive.

So sorry to those that have lost 😔

I've been bleeding for a week now (no clots or cramps) doctors on Friday evening referred me to epu, which I have to go to between 8.30-12.30 weekdays.

I did not want to tell work about it especially this early on as it might not happen.. so I said today that I've been asked to go for blood tests sometime this week, when is best for me to go? They've said wednesday. Only problem is I'm now worrying they will pull me out for "lying" although technically it isn't a lie as I'm unsure what epu will actually do anyway. Someone commented "which hospital are you going to?" I told them and they suggested I go to one nearer as it's open later.. my reply was "my doctor has referred me to the other one." (Which they have)

What are your experiences with going to appointments in work time? Without telling them why? I work in a school so annual leave isn't an option 😩 I also didn't want to take the whole day sick when I can just go to the appointment and be back in work..

Xx

MyBreadIsEggy · 21/01/2019 16:17

Twittle Nope Confused
And from what I hear, it’s going to be with the most old-school midwife at the children’s centre Hmm I’m talking the 1960’s, shave and an enema kind of midwife Confused
She’s going to love me Grin The homebirthing, no intervention, no antenatal testing hippy Grin

Megan2018 · 21/01/2019 16:26

@MinnieLou
My work are generally fine about time off for appointments, but I told my line manager anyway so it is easier. I’d tell her if I miscarry or need a termination anyway (as would want time off) so figured it made no difference. Not told another soul though.
I’m sure they will understand if they find outbthe real reason later, but if it really bothers you just tell the truth? St least pregnancy absence is protected.

MinnieLou · 21/01/2019 16:33

Thanks @Megan2018
I'm trying to at least wait until I've had this appointment then might have to.. I'd rather not as they're not the most understanding management but if needs be then I will but same as you no one else will know til further down the line only me and my partner know.

Think I will make it pretty clear to them that it's strictly confidential and if anyone else NEEDS to know for whatever reason then I'd like to do it myself preventing gossiping between themselves.. x

GemmaJen · 21/01/2019 16:42

@MinnieLou I don't think you need to tell them. When I had the mmc and needed a few days of work to manage it I never told my boss why, just that I was visiting the hospital on my doctor's request due to test results. Not a lie and if he had pushed for further details I would have said that I was visiting the gynae department, I don't think he'd have asked anymore questions after that. Our epu is twinned with gynae, so factually accurate anyway.

@MyBreadIsEggy good luck with the appointment, it sounds like you're going to have your hands full! I've got mine on Wednesday, it'll be a relief to get the ball rolling and feel like this is actually happening.

MunchyMunchkin · 21/01/2019 16:53

@porge123 wouldn’t recommend buying a Doppler. They cause a lot of unnecessary worry when you don’t know what you’re listening for.
It’s hard enough with a proper one when you know what you’re doing!

stroan · 21/01/2019 17:17

I had another booking in appointment today. I had one last week where she filled in paper forms and gave me a folder with books and leaflets. Then another today where she filled in more stuff on the computer and then took bloods etc. Honestly have no idea why that needed two appointments.

She couldn’t help with meds though so need to queue up at the doctor on Wednesday morning to get an appointment with the doctor who is willing to prescribe stuff.

My work know but I’m a bit worried about all the time off. My grandfather passed away this morning and I was off last week to go to the hospital to see him. Now I’ll
Have more time off for the funeral plus all the appointments. I’ve only been there 7 months and was made redundant on my last mat leave so I’m a bit twitchy.

onemorego2019 · 21/01/2019 17:21

Had BFP over the weekend. Do you need to see the gp or can you just make a booking appt? I've forgotten 😂

stroan · 21/01/2019 17:22

In most areas you can just ask for a booking appointment or self refer.

Lavellan · 21/01/2019 17:24

@MinnieLou I work in a school too but here people just says "appointment" and that's it unless you offer more explanation. I think people will wonder for my booking given that it's an hour, but my department has been a mess of medical issues last year so most people have had a half day for something or other!

Megan2018 · 21/01/2019 17:24

Depends where you live @onemorego2019
I had to see GP but other areas have self referral. I called surgery to ask. Congratulations

onemorego2019 · 21/01/2019 17:26

Thanks all I'll give them a call 😊

MinnieLou · 21/01/2019 17:39

Thank you @GemmaJen
&
Thank you @Lavellan I'm worried about time off as they're already stressed with people off sick etc. Hence why I'd rather go to an appointment and say it's for something different than take a day off sick.

Do they ever ask for a letter for proof? Obviously I didn't get one as I was referred to epu and told to go there with no idea how long I'll be too so going to get there for as soon as it opens.

Just worried that any more appointments I may hopefully need they might start asking questions or refusing without proof anyway x

hodgeheg92 · 21/01/2019 17:57

@minnieLou I'm a teacher and my school ask for proof - the midwife always wrote my next appointment in the notes that you keep with you though so I just showed them that and asked for it to be written if the midwife forgot. I think what you've told school so far is completely fine though and doubt anyone could criticise you when you do tell them. I'm having my booking appointment at a different gp practice cos the midwife is only at my one on a work day and I don't want to tell school yet (I'm already part time)

Lavellan · 21/01/2019 18:40

Personally I would say "I'd rather not go into details" with anyone who was nosey apart from my direct supervisor. But it does depend on the culture of your workplace. I've never heard of people needing proof. Only supposed to if you go over 3 days off in a row.

MyBreadIsEggy · 21/01/2019 19:13

Anyone got any weird food things going on?!
Started feeling a little nauseous again this afternoon, so I’m just eating whatever it is that takes my fancy and doesn’t make me feel sick.
I’m half-Polish, and what appears to be taking my fancy is food from the motherland Blush So I’ve made an entire bowl of pierogi ruskie filling, and am eating it completely on its own Blush

Crashbumpthud · 21/01/2019 19:16

@minnielou - can you check what your HR policy is for medical appointments on your intranet? Wishing you the best!

Sorry to hear you are all suffering from colds. Mine has gone and taken my nausea with it. Hmm now getting worried that I feel less pregnant and it’s not a good sign. This pregnancy anxiety is hard!
Anyone else thinking about a scan at 8 weeks? What do you see if you do?

Also- can anyone advise re your booking in appointment- I rang my gps but they said they didn’t offer midwife appointments only doctors or nurses but neither would be a booking in appointment. I’ve googled but can’t find a clear answer on where you need to go! Help!!

BBell2 · 21/01/2019 19:23

Hi @crashbumpthud I had to go to my docs first time round to get another test and onto the midwifes list at another surgery...to then do the booking in with her around 8weeks (I think!)

BBell2 · 21/01/2019 19:28

I just remebered I saw a nurse first who told me I couldn't eat meringue and I'd bought a lush pavlova which OH demolished alone...totally incorrect and never forgiven.

Hsunshine · 21/01/2019 19:49

@crashbumpthud I had a scan at 7 weeks, we could see a white blob. She spent a long time trying to make me see the heartbeat, in the end I agreed I could see it moving. She could deff see it though. Baby moved around in scan too

Easterbuns1 · 21/01/2019 20:24

@Crashbumpthud I had a scan at 8+2 last time, could see a clear blob with the start of wee arm and leg stumps and an obvious heartbeat.

MrsLBear · 21/01/2019 20:36

Wow made redundant on mat leave @stroan that's a bald move from your old company. Did they do that to many employees at the time? I wouldn't worry about time off too much. You can't help how these appointments fall. I always think if you're sincere about it and show that you know it might cause inconvenience your manager can only be understanding. I think if someone has a I am entitled to it attitude they will be more inclined to get funny.

LaBelleSausage · 21/01/2019 20:57

This was DS at 8+2. We could see a surprising amount!

I’m booked in again for an early scan at what I think will be 7+5

September 2019 babies?
Sarah2809 · 21/01/2019 21:19

EDD 24 Sept for me! Smile My first baby and very excited.

5 weeks pregnant now and have had awful back pains! Also had a bit of cramping by my hips, and CONSTANTLY feeling hungry!

Given up smoking as well though, so wondering if that's why I'm feeling so hungry!
