Sianny I’d say definitely say just do it. I haven’t put anything up because some of my family are on my Fb and they don’t know yet so was going to wait until they know and then do some kind of post. It’ll probably end out being nye/new years day. You can’t change the fact you have happy news to share. When I thought we wouldn’t have any more dc I’d always feel a bit envious of others announcements but I was happy for them, the jealousy was my issue not theirs and I wouldn’t expect them to change their post because of it.

Socktastic I hope you have some movement to help the constipation out.

Well, I’m on my own having my Christmas lunch. Can’t manage to get to my family as feeling too rough so hoping to have a quick nap and see if I can pop over after lunch. Dh and dd there already.

@Siannybobs I think maybe do it but without the scan pic? Or wait until tomorrow? Christmas is such a hard day if you've had losses and sometimes Facebook can be a bit of an escape. I found scan pics really hard as there's no warning and it just hits you. For people like me who got to 12 week scan and had a horrible image instead it's really tough.

We’ve only told a few people that we are having a girl and I’ve gotten very lukewarm responses. We aren’t making a big deal about it, just letting them know when we happen to talk to them.

It’s not like we had a strong preference and want people to say “Yay, girls are so much better!” But I feel almost awkward after I’ve shared the information, like it’s been unwanted. It’s not oversharing to tell people this, is it?

I don’t think I want to tell anyone else now and I regret sharing with the people we’ve told so far. Sorry for being a bit of a downer, it’s sort of put a dampener on our own excitement!

Kescilly what a shame you’ve had such a lukewarm response. I wouldn’t stop it telling people, I tended to find the people that were interested and would be really excited and happy for me were the people who asked as soon as they found out I was pg whether I knew if I wasn’t having a boy or girl, so you could wait to see if they ask, but I don’t think at all it’s over sharing.

Hope you all had a good day. I was a bit worried as we haven’t got dd as much as usual because I’m on sick pay and I’m mindful of being on maternity pay in the future and the fact we need to get another car etc. She hasn’t made a comment about being disappointed and seems happy with what she’s got, phew.

@Reastie I bet your DD hasn’t even noticed and has had a lovely Christmas.

Honestly, I was going to stop telling people after the first lukewarm response, but then I thought maybe I’d feel better if I told someone who was more excited. So I told some friends that I thought would be excited and it’s more of the same.

I don’t expect other people to be as invested, but I’ve always tried to politely mirror someone else’s excitement about their pregnancy.

Oh well, my husband and I are happy so who cares about anyone else?

@Kescilly, this might sound weird but could it be to do with Christmas? My in laws have said they don't want to tell other family and friends until after the Christmas buzz dies down (we've left it up to our folks to tell extended family and our 12 week scan was only recently). Their reason is that they want to be able to celebrate the news and let people take it in properly because so much happens over Christmas that it could just get lost in the buzz and chaos of everything.

@WeeBean I see what you mean but these are probably the people I know who celebrate Christmas the least! Both are couples who are at home by themselves today because they don’t really care about celebrating Christmas that much. Probably the reason we’ve ended up speaking, as opposed to everyone else who is quite busy today.

Hi all, hope you had a great Christmas!
@socktastic I have been having pains as well and got sent home from work the other day. My midwife said it was just growing ligament pains and to take paracetamol.
@Kescilly My best friends reacted awfully and my dad asked who the father was as a joke (I'm married), so I totally get the reaction thing! Why can't people just be nice?!

Anyway adding myself to this big list! I'm so excited for my gender scan on January 16th, if it isn't a girl I might have a very sad 5 year old son on my hands...

Hi all,
I hope you had a lovely time yesterday celebrating with your families.

@Kescilly - I feel for you - my manager was one of the first people I told at 7 weeks in case I got ill or something happened. Her first words were "are you taking the full year off?" I said probably. Then she said "and when you come back how many days will you want to do?" I said I didn't know. I was so annoyed - no congratulations or whatever! Then at the staff meeting last week I told the team - I was 13 weeks then- and everyone said nice things and after that had died down my manager goes 'yes and Laura's very good because she's coming back after less than a year and husband will be doing some of the childcare so she can do more days' I was bloody fuming. Everyone was a bit like wtf. We are desperately understaffed, but that's no excuse. Anyway. Rant over.

Got a car seat for just under £50 was a bounty offer 73% off from online4baby not isofix but looked pretty good got reasonable reviews on which. Plan to have a our second one for other car.

I need to have a whinge about my consultant appointment in a bit but right now: too much mentalness to commute thoughts to paper.

Morning! Hope everyone's recovered from the Christmas madness.

Anyone else just looking forward to the new year and getting in with this pregnancy or just me?

In unrelated news just found out my BF is pregnant - so excited we get to do it together. She's due beginning of Sept which seems crazy!

Madeincornwall beginning of September? That makes me feel like I’m far along, yay! Anything that makes the time go quicker atm is a good thing for me.

We don’t have a car seat but I’m feeling confused as last time we borrowed a maxi cosi one from a friend (it’d be ancient now so we need a new one anyway) and it had clips that clipped into the buggy base. So does anyone know if I would need to get another maxi cosi again so the clips work into the buggy base or do they all work in the same clip?

Feeling very down today after another bad evening yesterday. I wish time would hurry up, I can’t cope much more with feeling so rubbish.

Dh has gone to Sainsbury’s for me to stock up on the one type of bread roll I can eat (there’s only one specific type and brand I can manage). They only sell it in Sainsbury’s. He just rang to say they don’t have any and my heart skipped a beat in panic but then he discovered they had just moved them. Phew!!!
