@fee1234 bit delayed but massive congrats on the engagement. I hope you enjoyed New York and Iceland. I was the coldest I have ever been when I was there last week.. we got to see the Northern Lights though so that was cool :)

In need if a bit of a hand hold/reassurance. Had excruciating stomach cramps on and off all night. Realy not slept much felt utterly crap yesterday. Just flat.
The pains themselves seem more like wind but they're so severe I'm panicking. There is one really really sore tender bit on my left, I think it's part of the big intestine. It did move a bit when I poked at it - at least I th8bk it did. Whatever it is, wind seems to be getting around it but not without a whole heap of pain. Any ideas? I'm pretty convinced it's wind but that's not putting my mind a whole heap at ease!

I'll phone docs at 8 then spend 1 hour in a queue to be told there's no appointments for today but I'm not sure what else I can do. A&e would feel like overreaching.

There's so much I needed to do today as well... trifle, pugs in blankets....

@socktastic if you have some root ginger at home maybe boil it and drink to see if it helps? If it's wind it should shift it. If you think it might be baby related and need to see someone and can't get app with the GP then phone 111. They are really good at sorting appointments at local walk in centres within an hour or so. It's a bit weird that it moved when you poked it- could be baby in an awkward position? I hope you manage to get it sorted so you can get on with all the christmas prep and enjoy your day tomorrow.

Can you try calling the midwife first @socktastic? They might have some thoughts on the matter? Certainly wind is definitely a pregnancy thing - could it be that something you are had an adverse effect and it's being made worse by the pregnancy hormones and that it's got to get past the baby? I'm generally pretty windy but rarely have pain apart from on some occasions when I eat lentils and then my tum blows up like a balloon (it literally feels like it needs to pop) and omg it's so painful. Totally not what you need on Christmas Eve though 😱. How are you feeling now?

Would the baby be up this far yet? I do have a number for midwife triage who would be open just now surely but is it a midwife thing? Timing utterly sucks! Still feeling sore. Tummy still gurgling around. Never had anything last quite this long before!

They may well still get you to call the GP/111 but they may have a simple explanation and potentially may answer the phone quicker than your GP? Sorry you're feeling so rotten ☹️

The unit opens at 7.30 so I'm just to go in. The nurse on triage said it doesn't sound like anything to worry about - just a nasty case of constipation. Thinking about it I'm not sure I've had a poo for a while... There's a cheery Christmas eve thought for you all!

Husband's going to stay home with the toddler so I can just go in rather than having to wait to see if we can get him into nursery. This is the last thing I bloody need!

Oh socktastic, how rubbish. I guess at least it’s not Christmas Day it started. If it helps I’ve had terrible wind, I remember after csection one morning it was so bad I couldn’t move to pick up dd to feed her and I was all alone at home so I had to ring my mum to come over to help me! The pain can be really bad. There are some positions you can get into to help wind along. If you google you may find more but kneeling on the floor next to the bed with your arms and upper body on the bed sticking your bottom back or on all fours with your elbows on the floor and your bottom sticking up in the air.

Oh god yes constipation can be hellish. Lactulose, prunes, satsumas and lashings of fluid should help eventually. Good luck.

So many tummy bugs going around at the moment. My eldest DD always gets crippled with gas and pain when there's a big around, maybe you have caught one.

Peppermint oil is very good for trapped gas and to soothe the intestines, from Holland & Barrett.

I'm 14 weeks today so now into the 2nd trimester.. I have been sick 3 times this morning!!! I haven't been sick 3 times in a week before today... I've been conned! 🙊

@socktastic glad to hear you got sorted!! One the whole wind thing, for 3 weeks after I found out I was pg I woke up every night with really horrible pains and it was wind! I couldn't believe it could be so sore!

@CurlyWurly3 I'm really sorry to hear you're being sick!! There do seem to be a lot of bugs going around atm so maybe it's that rather than morning sickness? I really hope it passed quickly and doesn't spoil Christmas for you!

@Reastie how are you doing? I've been thinking about you these last few days.

WeeBean thanks for asking after me, I’ve been very up and down but still can’t manage to do anything. Yesterday wasn’t too bad (although still had to take myself off to bed in the afternoon) but I’m a bit better one minute and worse the next. 14 weeks tomorrow and desperately counting the hours and days. In my better moments in the past of days I’ve managed to eat a little bit of fruit (thank goodness) so at least I don’t feel that I’m being wholly unhealthy. Other than medication and resting I’m trying to graze constantly as if I get even vaguely close to hunger I feel awful. My weight gain will be huge! Still, I managed to lose over 100lbs after I had dd so I can lose weight again. How are you? Still getting better?

We just had our private scan, we’re having a girl! This is the first time I’ve really been emotional. I can’t believe how much more real everything felt with this scan.
