Naps, I'm so sorry for what you're going through right now, I really hope you have people around you for support!

We've just been for our first antenatal class and 16 week appointment. Class was decent, all about dealing with stress and breathing but I'm shattered so probably didn't take much of it in. We got to hear the heartbeat at our wee appointment after ☺️

toasterstrudle · 24/01/2019 20:56

So sorry @Napssavelives, that's just so shit. We're all here for you. I've also seen some fab long-running support threads in the relationships forum - would recommend you post in there too as there will have been other people in your situation who have got through it and may have wisdom to share. In the meantime, it'll be a one day at a time situation right now I imagine. So awful. There will come a day when it doesn't hurt so much but it must be rotten right now Thanks

Heyha · 24/01/2019 21:28

I didn't get something every day to start with @heebyjeeby either, I think baby was just pressed right up at the front where it's easy to notice at the same time as I was sat quiet. I've noticed movement at lunchtime now as well which I bet was going on all the time but I've got better at spotting it. It's a lovely feeling while it's just prods but everyone keeps saying wait til you've a foot in the bladder 😂

LauralovesLuke · 24/01/2019 21:46

@naps I'm really sorry Flowers it is really shit.

@heeby I'm also FTM and I'm 18+2 - I started feeling movement on Friday. I've worked out that if I sit up in a chair and lean forward I get kicked after 5-10 minutes or so (you know when you're reading and book is resting on the table for example) and also when I'm sitting in bed and quickly shuffle down and turn onto my right hand side I get kicked too! I'm.not sure if this works for other babies - do let me know 😂

Bigonesmallone3 · 24/01/2019 22:08

My DP felt his first kick last night.. at almost 19 weeks.. his hand was quickly pulled away from me by my protective little puppy (my 23 month old dd) 😂

Kescilly · 24/01/2019 22:11

Naps I was also thinking it might be worth starting a thread in the relationship forum. People have seemed really supportive in there at times, and you might find someone who has been in your position. I’ve also had a marriage break down but it was in different circumstances. Let me know if you ever need someone to listen.

Bizawit · 24/01/2019 22:47

Hi all! This is my first time posting. I am due end of May/ beginning of June but was too nervous to join till after my anomaly scan. Hope it’s ok to join in at this late stage?

@heebyjeeby99 I just wanted to say I’m sure that is your baby! I’m also a FTM but have been feeling movements/ kicks for a few weeks now. That is EXACTLY how it felt to me at first and I spent days googling “can baby movements feel like a muscle twitch?” I never felt the butterfly thing at all. It always felt like a spasm or a twitch- just like an eye twitch in the stomach. At first it was just once or twice and not everyday so I was really doubting whether it was in my head, but now the movements are constant and much stronger and so there is no doubt.

Congrats on feeling your baby move 😊.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 25/01/2019 07:42

Welcome to the thread @Bizawit.

Naps i second the idea to start a thread in relationships. We are all of course here to listen but you might get some good advice and support on there too. Such a hard situation for you Flowers

toomanyflatwhites · 25/01/2019 07:43

Welcome @Bizawit!

Didn't get a chance to update yesterday after our scan, but all was well! I was expecting it to be a bit of a non-event as I remembered it was with DD, but our sonographer was absolutely lovely, explained everything in great detail, even had very warm gel for the wand ("I put it in a warmer" 👍🏻) - her badge said she was a trainee so think she was extra careful. Due to being 40 I also had to have an extra scan at the end to check uterine blood flow and she couldn't quite do it so brought in a colleague but that was all ok too. Hard to believe that unless something looks unusual later that could be the last scan I ever have!!!

And it was only day 2 with the in-laws and am already exhausted...and DPs SIL and family all arrive today at lunchtime....give me strength....9 people in our flat 😳 (2 adults will be sleeping elsewhere but I imagine the rest of the time they will be here) and then tomorrow my family (3 adults, 3 children) are coming up too and we are going for lunch. It's all a bit much!!!

Heebyjeeby99 · 25/01/2019 08:34

Thanks all. I didn't get anything last night and I was laying so still willing her to move so am doubting if it was all in my head! But I'll give it another couple of days. I have an anterior placenta so am not going to freak out if I don't feel anything for another week or so. X

Heebyjeeby99 · 25/01/2019 08:43

Also when are everyone's next scans (as in after the 20 weeks?). Mine's not until 6 May which seems forever away....think I'll have to do a private around March for my own sanity! X

Bigonesmallone3 · 25/01/2019 09:05

I have my 20 week on the 5th Feb then one at 28 weeks as I'm under consultant care

Kescilly · 25/01/2019 09:22

I had one at 20 and a repeat at 22 weeks as baby wasn’t cooperating. I don’t think I get anymore, do I?

Torsz · 25/01/2019 09:24

I'm not expecting any more scans unless there's a problem or I pay for a private one!

SassehMonsta · 25/01/2019 09:29

heebee, I didn't start feeling regular movement with this little one until last week (21weeks). And even then, it was low down and to the sides. I also have an anterior placenta and apparently this is very usual. Now I feel him at bedtime and sometimes in the daytime. He likes 5am too. I don't!

Heebyjeeby99 · 25/01/2019 09:30

@Kescilly I got told at my 20 week scan that the NHS provide one more at 35 weeks, so it is booked for 6 May...I'm based in the UK, but guess it could be different for each provider. Apparently they offer three scans - 12 weeks, 20 weeks and 35 weeks.

Heebyjeeby99 · 25/01/2019 09:31

@SassehMonsta what sort of feelings is it? After saying I hadn't felt any more, felt a couple of muscle spasms on the train this morning but they were high up on my left hand side. The 5am ones were low down on the right hand side, can the baby move that much as it seems like a long way apart!

Kescilly · 25/01/2019 09:45

@Heebyjeeby99 Oh, I thought the NHS only does them at 12 and 20 weeks. I’m in England, so I don’t know if it’s different in other parts of the UK. I don’t know anyone who has given birth on the NHS so it’s all new to me.

Is there anyone who is waiting to be added to our list? I could try to sit down later today and find the list and add people if they can’t do it themselves. Then I could start the new thread with the list as the first post. Let me know!

Pigriver · 25/01/2019 09:46

@Heebyjeeby99 I thought it was just 12 and 20 weeks for a standard pregnancy?

I was high risk last time and had additional at 30/36 but this time they’ve changed it to 28/32/36.

I’m off work today with hip and back pain, I fell getting out of the bath last night and bruised my ribs, ds was awake 3-5am 😫 and I have woken with a cold. Waah!

Heebyjeeby99 · 25/01/2019 09:52

@Kescilly @Pigriver could it be a FTM thing? I'm slightly concerned now as it does only say 2 scans on the NHS website. Some of my measurements looked small on my report although the sonogrpaher told me it was all fine. So do you think that could be why they've booked a further scan?

@Kescilly I haven't been added to the list yet!

Heebyjeeby99 · 25/01/2019 09:55

Panic offer just found this on my hospital website:

When will I be offered a scan?
We offer three routine ultrasound scans at
• Between 11+6 to 13+6 weeks* (the nuchal dating scan)
• Between 18 and 22+0 weeks (mid pregnancy or anomaly scan)
• Third trimester scan at 35 weeks (within 35th week). This scan
is to check the growth and presentation of your baby.

So it must be a regional thing.

Heebyjeeby99 · 25/01/2019 09:55

panic *over

Kescilly · 25/01/2019 09:57

@Heebyjeeby99 it must be a regional thing. It’s one of the things I find a little frustrating about the NHS. I thought there would be a more equal level of care but it seems that so much depends on where you live.

If you want your info to be added to the list, post it here. If you scroll back you can find the list and see the general format that people have been using.

Heebyjeeby99 · 25/01/2019 10:09

Heebyjeeby99 DC1, due 11th June

SassehMonsta · 25/01/2019 10:15

Heeby, yeah, twitches. and baby is around 28cm head to feet by 22 weeks and it can move around freely at the moment!! I know hes laying sideways and at the 20 week scan he had hands up by his head, and legs out the other side. :)
