I actually would have avoided a summer baby if we were trying but mainly because I'm not looking forward to being heavily pregnant all summer haha. I dont deal well with the heat as it is!

ScotsBaby2 · 01/01/2019 15:52

@RaindropsRoses another excellent reason for moving to Scotland. It's never warm!

Moncwf · 01/01/2019 15:58

I thought that @RaindropsRoses especially after seeing a lot of friends suffer last summer, but thought that there's no way this summer will be as hot as last time, right?!
DS was born late November and I really didn't want another winter baby. By the time visitors had trailed off and DH was back at work it was the shortest days of the year and I just could not get everything together to get us out of the house in daylight. I felt like I was doomed to live in darkness. Possibly slightly melodramatic with the hormones there...

OctoberGirl91 · 01/01/2019 16:11

Thanks everyone for your messages.

I feel more calm had no more spotting and been rested most of the day. So just waiting to see midwife first thing Thursday and hopefully get a scan for 9 weeks if we make it that far xx

mamma2be · 01/01/2019 16:13

Thanks for your reccs ladies @emma1224 @QueenofFox

I've just gone to the loo and quite a lot of blood on the tissue when I wiped (sorry for TMI) my cramps are also getting progressively worse as the day goes on (started mild this am and now period-like). My GP surgery is closed today so I will go in tomorrow morning and see what they say.. hoping they will give me an early scan otherwise will book privately. Can't stop worrying or googling my symptoms, which I know isn't helping anyone.

Re summer babies - my brother is an August baby and he's training to be a commercial pilot (had his private licence by 17 and is now 19) and another close friend also an August baby is a dr training to be surgeon! So I wouldn't worry about that too much! My only worry would be being heavily pregnant in the height of summer as @RaindropsRoses pointed out!

Ninunina · 01/01/2019 16:34

I'm sorry to hear that you've seen some blood @mamma2be . Whist blood can be worrying, it doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. I had some spotting with some blood with it and so far all has been ok. It was coming from outside the uterus. Hoping you get a scan tomorrow and get some reassurance.

KMic · 01/01/2019 17:04

@Rachellev I had a dizzy spell a couple of weeks ago when I was 6+4. Was fine after and haven't had it since! It's perfectly normal - just another sign. Just try not to get up too quick etc

marajade12 · 01/01/2019 17:09

I’m an August baby and wasn’t held back a year for starting school 😅 didn’t have any problems

Its weird that I might end up sharing my birthday with baby. Although DH, brother and dad all share the same birthday too.

mrsof20118 · 01/01/2019 17:59

@mamma2be how far gone are you? You could always ring 111 if cramps are bad. X

RaindropsRoses · 01/01/2019 18:04

Sorry to hear that mamma2be I would speak to gp or 111 tomorrow if you cant see the gp and they should refer you to EPU for a scan to check everything. Have you got work? I've needed to go twice before with pain and bleeding in past pregnancies and they've always sent me straight in so hopefully they should x

Oftenconfused · 01/01/2019 18:06

Happy New Year, everyone! I've been travelling a lot over Christmas and not been active on here, so wanted to check in again. Sorry to see the losses 🙁

Had my booking-in appt just before Christmas. Very straightforward and the midwife answered a lot of questions I had (first time I've done this!), though it was a bit of information overload.

I'm not really sure about due date because I have an irregular and long cycle, and I think I ovulate late... But I'm going with 4th August until I have the 12-week scan on 16th Jan (ooh, close!). I'm in Edinburgh btw, so not worrying about school starting time.

KMic · 01/01/2019 18:35

So ... I have this weird thing for the nausea ... having a full stomach helps keep it at bay ... but I don't really fancy any food!! Not hungry. Just making myself eat. Ridiculous pickle to be in!

UnicornDust17 · 01/01/2019 18:50

Happy new year everyone!

How are you doing today @avacadooo?

HOw have you been @OctoberGirl91?

@mamma2be I used window to the womb and would recommend them based on my experience. £59 so not too expensive either
Have your cramps stopped? Do you have an EPU you can call tomorrow?

Congrats @loveshinealight and welcome

@W0MANlikeME stay with us Grin

UnicornDust17 · 01/01/2019 18:51

@Ninunina those sound like my usual new years resolutions, but I've not made any this year. Decluttering is definitely on the list of things to do though Smile

OctoberGirl91 · 01/01/2019 19:21

No cramping and no more spotting and feeling sick and boobs still tender so hoping all positive signs thanks for asking @UnicornDust17.

Hope your ok xx

starryeyed13 · 01/01/2019 19:43

Spoke to a friend who is a primary school teacher and she was very reassuring about the whole August born thing. In all honesty the most important thing is that they are healthy. DH and I both have birthdays early in the school year and both feel that gave us an advantage in some ways, but what will be will be!

On another note, has anyone exercised much yet? I went to the gym today and found my heart rate going higher than usual even though I wasn't working out as strenuously as I usually do... has anyone noticed this? Also definitely going to need a new sports bra. My boobs have grown quite a lot and my crappy old sports bra didn't seem to support the girls very well 😂

starryeyed13 · 01/01/2019 19:44

@mamma2be I second @UnicornDust17's recommendation too - I used Window to the Womb and they were very good and much more reasonably priced than others in my area!

KMic · 01/01/2019 19:54

@starryeyed13 I went swimming the other day ... managed 12 lengths before I was totally out of puff!! 🤣🤣 I usually do about 50. I hear ya!!

UnicornDust17 · 01/01/2019 19:59

@starryeyed13 I usually run three times a week and at the gym twice, but since getting my BFP I've done nothing. I'm too worried about MCs. I feel so unfit, I have tried to do a lot of walking over Xmas but I really miss exercising, just don't want to risk anything at the moment. My average heart rate is also higher at the moment.

mrsof20118 · 01/01/2019 20:21

@starryeyed13 I have managed a few gym classes over the last few weeks. I had let my routine go a bit due to early mc in September but was going 4 times a week prior to that. My instructor said I’m fine to carry on with my normal routine just need to make amendments in the second trimester. I do body pump, body balance and spin. Finding myself getting out of breath easily too but just not over exhausting myself and not trying to push my fitness levels at all

clairelee17 · 01/01/2019 21:43

Hi all, happy new year!

So after a week of queasiness and retching with nothing coming up, the sickness has arrived with a vengeance today. Been majorly sick today and feel like I have an almighty hangover.

I have my booking in appointment tomorrow morning at 8:30am. God help me getting up early. I haven't done so in nearly two weeks and this exhaustion is knocking me out. I've already had two naps today and been in bed asleep 8pm (I just woke up for the loo and then checked my phone!) Xx

mamma2be · 01/01/2019 22:26

Sadly still cramping and bleeding has become quite heavy. Will def call gp or 111 first thing but feeling quite sad and emotional. Going to try get some rest and stay positive no matter the outcome. Thanks for all your help ladies!

W0MANlikeME · 01/01/2019 22:28

Unicorn Smile think i may post on both until get my date confirmed although doubt baby would be born in sept tbh

Are there many on here due at end of august?

Kcjoe · 01/01/2019 22:42

@mamma2be how far along are you? I would call 111 now. Sorry you're going through this 😔

@RaindropsRoses I'm with you on the heat issue! I can't tolerate heat at all! 😓

UnicornDust17 · 01/01/2019 22:48

fingers crossed @mamma2be stay positive. I had quite a fair bit of a bleed three weeks ago, assumed it was all over but had an early scan and all was fine. Sending you sticky thoughts. Flowers
