Good luck with scans today @marajade12 and @bakingabean

MrsH1990 · 31/12/2018 08:42

Is anyone NOT getting the flu jab? Me & DH have had constant arguments over this... he wants me to get it... but I don't want it... I've always been entitled to it anyway cos of asthma but I've always refused it. I don't like the fact they are injecting a bit of the virus into my system... and it may be coincidence but EVERYONE who has flu jab a few days later are full of cold... and I just can not be arsed with morning sickness and cold 😩 xx

Ninunina · 31/12/2018 09:05

I'm in two minds about getting it. I've never had it before, but I had an awful chest infection when pregnant with DD2 and I ended up hospitalized and put on iv antibiotics. I wonder if the jab would have prevented it.

UnicornDust17 · 31/12/2018 09:08

It's possible @MrsH1990 the cold germs are picked up from the drs or place where you get the jab?

I always get flu jab, free with work, only been ill once with a cold afterwards, but who knows when I picked that up? I use public transport all the time (and have a small bug-infested child Grin).

Blueberry2018 · 31/12/2018 09:39

@ScotsBaby2 I thought you were quiet last night! Holding out hope for your oil delivery, i hate a cold house!

Good luck to all with scans today.

@MrsH1990 I was told by doctor that risks of getting ill from flu jab is far lower than the risk of harm to baby if you contract flu, they highly recommended i have it. I was nervous after 2 mc but i was fine x

Whoopsies · 31/12/2018 09:44

I can't have my flu jab until I've had my booking in appointment! I looked at paying for it but nowhere near me has stock, so I'll just hope for the best!!

I had the flu jab a couple of months ago before conceiving and luckily didn't have any symptoms. Worth remembering though that it's not 100% effective - it only protects against certain strains.

EverythingNow · 31/12/2018 09:52

I had my flu jab through work at the beginning of Nov, so before pregnancy. I get one every year. I had flu last Christmas (it was a bad year for it) and I've honestly never felt that poorly, hot, cold, sweating couldn't even lift my head off the pillow to look at my phone!

@7yearslater, I'm so sorry lovely.

Good luck today @bakingabean and @marajade12

milly2000 · 31/12/2018 09:53

@MrsH1990 I done a fair bit of research before having it more for the fact I was worried it would affect my baby more than myself. I did learn however it's not a live vaccine, so won't make you sick or give you a cold. If your sick after you caught something before or after. The most I had was a sore arm for a couple a days.

I no a few pregnant women who haven't had it though because they never did before pregnancy. Guess it's all personal choice.

ScotsBaby2 · 31/12/2018 10:35

When I was in labour there was a pregnant woman admitted to the ward because of flu. They were monitoring her and baby due to her temperature and they were talking about emergency section if baby was in distress. The midwife with us said a lot of pregnant women with flu end up in hospital as the temperature rise is so dangerous. I'm hoping to get mine next week when I need blood taken.

ScotsBaby2 · 31/12/2018 10:36

Oil arrived!!!!

Ninunina · 31/12/2018 10:56

So I thought I was lucky this time round with sickness. I was sick very early on in the past, and once I got past the 8 week point feeling ok, I thought the worst was over. I've only had mild nausea so far, but for the past 3 days it really stepped up. I have that awful hung over feeling. I've only felt sick a couple of times, but all I want to do is stay in bed. I have no energy for anything. Last week I hosted 30 people for Christmas lunch and I was fine. Today I have 4 friends and their 4 kids coming over and I can't even handle cleaning up the kids toys. I don't know how I'm going to go back to work on Wednesday.

Sorry for the moan, but it's taken me by surprise that I got so sick so suddenly. On the bright side, I've had no more spotting.

Poppy012 · 31/12/2018 11:00

So sorry to hear about the losses ladies xx

I won't be having the flu jab x

Blueberry2018 · 31/12/2018 11:54

@Ninunina My sickness has eased a little now im 8 wks. Was worrying but guess this can be quite normal. Im sure it'll be back with a vengeance.

MrsH1990 · 31/12/2018 11:57

Thanks for your replies girls!!

Maybe it's just coincidence round me that everyone gets sick after having jab!
I feel quite selfish not having one but I have never wanted it while it was just me anyway.

Anyway...
Does anyone know much about blood types? I received a letter saying I'm Rhesus Negative & just don't understand it as I've got to have extra bloods or something when I'm later on in pregnancy to make sure baby not Rhesus positive xx

Kcjoe · 31/12/2018 12:05

Just popped back for a quick catchup. I'm still waiting for my scan for today 🙄 I rang this morning to chase it. I was told that there are 4 people off sick in the scan dept so I might not be having it today 😡 I want them to take the coil out asap and they can't do that until I've had the scan! I'm supposed to be going to Devon later for the new year. Can't go until I've heard from hospital.

I noticed a few are Midlands based and one is in Hereford. Sorry I can't remember without scrolling back - I'm in Worcester.

Good luck to the others having scans today x

PinkLady89x · 31/12/2018 12:12

@MrsH1990 I found out I'm rhesus A negative when I had my miscarriage in August and they said that if I had a rhesus positive baby then my body could become sensitized to their blood and potentially reject further babies with positive blood - meaning they could be born unwell and need medicine. What they do to stop this happening is give us an anti D jab at different stages during the pregnancy. When I had the miscarriage they gave me an anti D jab because I would have been exposed to the babies blood.
It's nothing bad it's just something to be aware of and they sort it easily. Apparently we have a 50/50 chance of a rhesus negative or positive baby. Hope that helps but I only found this out a couple of months ago myself x

ScotsBaby2 · 31/12/2018 12:23

@MrsH1990 my mum has O negative blood and all her children at B positive. It meant we were all very jaundiced at birth and needed medication. I think it's picked up on more than 30 years ago so it just involves an injection later in your pregnancy.

OctoberGirl91 · 31/12/2018 12:53

Just want to ask about CM I'm getting clear watery/EWCM when wiping only small amount. Is that normal? Feel like I'm questioning anything as I reach 6 weeks tomorrow xx

milly2000 · 31/12/2018 12:54

@Ninunina I've had pretty bad sickness but seem to be managing it better now I've reached the 8 week mark.
But I'm with you on the exhaustion front. Im struggling, I feel really weak it actually awful. Dreading returning to work Wednesday not sure how I'm going to beg through it.

Kcjoe · 31/12/2018 13:05

Well I'm not having my scan today. Got to go back on 3rd in the afternoon for my scan now. In the meantime the pesky coil is staying 😔

UnicornDust17 · 31/12/2018 13:14

Oh @Kcjoe that's rubbish, sorry. Sad

milly2000 · 31/12/2018 13:24

@Kcjoe what a nightmare!

W0MANlikeME · 31/12/2018 13:52

Bfp this morning. Bit of a surprise. This will be DC5.....

Due between 30/8 and 1/9 so can't really decide which thread to post on!

Anyone else on dc5+

marajade12 · 31/12/2018 14:07

Scan went really well today, dated me to 8+1 and I saw a hb as well. They did notice something called as small extrachorionic haemorrhage which may have been causing the bleeding. Has anyone else had this? But I was told not to worry about it. Now the long wait to the 12 week scan 😀
