Happy new year everyone!!

Had a terrible night because of pins and needles, not sure if I missed this or if anyone mentioned before but is this normal in early pregnancy it's driving me insane 🙈

@mamma2be I had an early scan at 8 weeks in mothercare- it was called baby bond it was really could and gives you piece of mind prior to your 12 week you'll find the places that doe it on the sight

www.ultrasound-direct.com/mobile/babybond-pregnancy-scans/early-scan/

Does cost around 80 but you get about 6 photos to bring home x

Looks like I'm incredibly late to the party! I got my BFP on 10/12 and according to my apps I'll be due around August 22nd.

This will be baby #2 for us. I have a 19 month old daughter. She is amazing! She was10 days late so I'm not 100% convinced that I'm having an August baby!

So far I've not had many symptoms other than tiredness (staying up for the bells was a challenge!) and slight nausea. With my daughter I had sore boobs and an insane sense of smell too. I've stopped taking tests after the digi came back as 3+.

We moved house just before Christmas was haven't registered with my new GP yet which I need to do before I book in with the midwife as it will be a different health centre for my midwife appointments. (You self refer to the midwife here, no GP appointment necessary).

Anyway lovely to see so many of us here! Wishing us all a happy healthy 9 months!

canonlyhopexo · 01/01/2019 11:09

@avacadooo hope you're ok my poached pal been thinking of you xx

@OctoberGirl91 I hope you're not feeling too on edge maybe call your midwife for reassurance xx

RaindropsRoses · 01/01/2019 11:12

@loveshinealight welcome and we are very similar circumstances! I also have a 19mo and due arouns 25th Aug at the mo.

I think I would prefer being a bit late and having September baby, thinking very far ahead but the thought of them starting school a week after turning 4 seems so little!

Still no symptoms here except the nausea but have just booked an early scan for Friday, Ill still be very early but hoping that will put my mind at rest.

Ninunina · 01/01/2019 11:14

Happy new year everyone! I'm sitting her thinking about new year resolutions. Is anyone else planning any?

My #1 thing after the festive season is usually a strict diet. I never lost my baby weight after DD2 and I'm pretty much the same weight now as I was full term with DD2. It's depressing. I'm obviously not going to go in a strict calorie controlled diet, but I am going to clean up my diet. No sugar, lots of veg, healthier carbs and more plant based meals.

Resolution #2 is to have a massive declutter. My house is clean and quite tidy, but the drawers and cupboards are all stuffed to the brim with stuff we don't use. We're overrun with toys, clothes and general crap we don't know what to do with. I hate to think of what it will be like with a third child so I want to tackle things ASAP and try and get a head start.

Resolution #3- get active. I got a fit bit for my birthday last month and I want to get my average daily steps up from 7000 to 10,000 steps. I would also like to start pregnancy yoga again. I enjoyed it last time, and I really feel I need it. My abs remained quite separated after DD2 and I don't want it to get much worse since I already have a hernia and a nerve problems as a result . Swimming helps too.

EverythingNow · 01/01/2019 11:21

Welcome @loveshinealight! My 3 dd have all been very overdue so although I'm due 5th August I expect it will be around the middle of August. That said I'll be 40 and I did read somewhere that they are less likely to let you go 2wks over at 40 but that might just be for first time mum's. Booking in appointment tomorrow so I'll ask, either way I'll probably be induced!

@Ninunina I'm hoping to start pregnancy yoga at 14wks. I have had spd in my last 2 pregnancies though so not sure when/if that will start again. Hope not!

Happy New Year everyone!

Re. Children starting school at 4, I've also been thinking about this! There is such a massive difference between 4 and 5. Apparently now you can apply to defer your child if they are very young, but it is totally dependent on the local school! I never knew the Mum worry would start kicking in even at this early stage 😂

Twitwooo · 01/01/2019 12:34

They have some stats on deferring summer born children now and the conclusion so far seems to be that it doesn't actually make a notable difference. Here's a recent bbc article about it -
School delay does not help summer-born, study shows www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-44155068

Twitwooo · 01/01/2019 12:41

Also it might be just me but I suspect the perception or almost expectation that a summer born child would not do as well as their winter born counterpart is just as damaging as (perhaps) their 'natural' inclination.
I have always been on the bad side of statistics for most things in my life and my motto is basically statistics are for sheep, but I am a wolf GrinI plan to instill this approach in my children as well!

KMic · 01/01/2019 12:50

Morning ladies!

Nausea is still on point for me today! 😩 dreading going back to work tomorrow and having to sit through it. At least I have a desk based job!! Genuinely no idea how those of you with young children do it! I feel like crap.

As for the school thing. I have a friend with an August child. She said you could notice he was a little behind the others at the beginning of his first year, but by the end he was pretty much the same. I look on the plus side - almost a year less of needing to pay for child care! 😂 I'll be putting our bean in to school when he/she is 4... never harmed any of us! I was a May baby and was always one of the more intelligent in the year. I think a lot of it is just down to the child itself.

We really need to move before baby arrives! House had gone on the market and we are looking at where we want to move to. Just the added stress I need whilst pregnant 🙈 better than moving with a baby though I feel!

W0MANlikeME · 01/01/2019 13:05

I have a very end of May dc who was the first in his year group who was on free readers and could tell the time!

This dc is due between 30/8 and 1/9 but all my others have been slightly early so i assume will be an august baby

I have been flitting between this thread and the sept thread as i dunno where to go Blush

Rachellev · 01/01/2019 13:25

Hey everyone! Good morning feeling very light headed like I need to sit down anyone experiencing anything like this.
Thanks so much I'm 7 +5

ScotsBaby2 · 01/01/2019 13:27

@W0MANlikeME I was one of the last babies due in my previous group and always felt my DD was behind because she did everything after loads of other babies. I said this time if I was due at the end of the month I would go to the next month group. I'm weird like that though.

RaindropsRoses · 01/01/2019 13:31

womanlikeme i was due 31/5 with ds and joined the June bus, he ended up 2 weeks early but I much preferred being at the front, I remember the girls at the back end being so fed up waiting as they went overdue and in to July when some of us had 2m olds already! Bet that'll be me this time though as due at the end of the month!

That's interesting thanks twitwooo its not so much academically I'm bothered as I'm not one to worry about that anyway, and kids should be playing at that age! Its more being emotionally ready for such a big change and that some 3yo still nap and are toilet training! Seems mad that they might only just stop thise things then in no time are off to school. Although I suppose the 30hrs childcare now will help prepare them.

We are having our babies this year now!

bubblegumunicorn · 01/01/2019 13:40

I think it’s fine my brother is an August baby and he did amazingly at school and he had the added Benifit this year of finishing his A levels at 17 so he’s getting to enjoy being 18 with out the stress of school! I think that’s a plus!

RaindropsRoses · 01/01/2019 13:43

rachellev I think that's normal as long as you're not actually fainting? Make sure you drinks loads and loads of water. You make crazy amounts more blood when pregnant so need it and it can make your blood pressure go a bit low, that's something they will check everytime you see the midwife. And eating little snacks often too.

Blueberry2018 · 01/01/2019 14:29

Sorry to bring up cm guys, but is yours quite 'yellow' on your panty liner at times? My friend whose had 2 kids say its normal but everything online says could be infection? I have lots of 'creamy' cm throughout days and occasionally appears yellow, just wondering what you are all experiencing!

Moncwf · 01/01/2019 14:47

I'm due at the end, but last time due date got moved back a week and I went into labour on original due date. This time I am planning a 39 week c section so should be August. I am looking forward to getting the 30 free hours and then having DC in school sooner! I'm not worried about summer born behind, I was having this discussion with friends a while ago and one pointed out she was August born, always top of her class and now a doctor.

Funkyemzie · 01/01/2019 14:53

@Everythingnow honestly I am all over the weight thing this time. I started at a size 6-8 and ended up a size 14! I'm now back in a comfortable size 10 but even though I'm a size 10, I'm only 5'1" so my bmi is way too high apparently.

@Blueberry18 I'm having lots of cm to the point it scares me cuz I have to run the bathroom and check! It's not normally yellow but some days can't tell because I don't always wear white. Maybe could be a bit of thrush or infection? Sorry to sound tmi but does it smell, that's normally another sign of infection.

Funkyemzie · 01/01/2019 14:57

My DD is born 8th August and second youngest in her year, never been an issue so not concerned with this one at all! I think the only time it will bother her is when all her buddies are learning to drive in 5 years time and she will be one of the last to learn.

EverythingNow · 01/01/2019 15:05

@Blueberry2018 I've had it and put it down to pregnacare!

QueenofFox · 01/01/2019 15:11

@mamma2be I'm in NE London and I have to have an early scan for genetic reasons, I was told to self refer and I did to the Homerton, they did it at 6+3. Kings is supposed to be good for a private scan.

My eldest daughter is in yr 1 and is Nov born. You can really see the difference between her and August born friends - she is reading secret seven and can do proper maths and the summer borns struggle to count to 20 and are still doing phonics. I have thought about it with this one, but I think with extra support at home and the fact that they do catch up by KS2, I think it will be fine. My husband and I are both late July/August and have been fine. There are other strengths to have in life than academics. I definitely wouldn't defer and am quite pleased about 30 sooner. Everyone at school does go on about August borns though! I didn't really have a choice - we'd given up trying to conceive so we are lucky.

RaindropsRoses · 01/01/2019 15:13

blueberry I've just got loads of it. If its not smelly or itchy I wouldn't worry.

Pregnacare is making me constipated though. I know it can be a pregnancy symptom but I didn't have it last time when I just took vit D and folic acid. Got some last week to start taking as we were not ttc this was a surprise so wasn't taking anything and since then they're solid and almost black! Must be the iron. Sorry for tmi.

Funkyemzie · 01/01/2019 15:31

@Queenoffox I completely agree with you, she did really struggle in year 1 and I did question if we did the right thing by not holing her back (we were given the option). She now does really well in school and is a really bright kid.

I saw on the conception board that someone put on there, should they defer ttc as the baby would be due in August, I think she got alot of negative feedback for it but it's each to their own.

ScotsBaby2 · 01/01/2019 15:38

I'm Scotland the cut off is the end of February so if you are worried just move up here.
