Baby probably just turned around @Michelle0507 Apparently if they are back to back with you there should be no bump

Twistering · 29/12/2018 11:04

@Michelle probably some of the bloat gone down? I look way slimmer in morning!

@FuzzyPixel you poor thing!! Hope it subsides very soon!

@TheScardeyCat why is he being a dick?

Speaking on which, I’ve been totally off it, but felt massively horny for about two days, to the point (TMI sorry) where I came in my sleep twice!! Seems to have gone again now much to DH’s distress!

mommyto2andangels · 29/12/2018 11:10

Hey guys I'm new here but I have 2 children and am pregnant and I have 2 angel babies 👼🏼👼🏼🧚🏼‍♀️

Michelle0507 · 29/12/2018 11:47

I'd had some lovely new jeans for Christmas & was struggling to fasten them, maybe I'll be able to wear them today. Lol! It did look very much like bloat tbh.

TheScaredyKat · 29/12/2018 12:01

@Twistering It's so ridiculous, I've got terrible insomnia and really struggling to get up and function in the mornings as well as now painful left hip. I normally get up early to take the dog for a walk before work. He offered last week to do it instead for a while until I can sort out some decent sleep/ better hip and I agreed. Then when Thursday came and we were both going to work he didn't get up to do it and I ended up without enough time. So he got angry with me for "ruining his day" and making him late for work! Apparently I should have reminded him. When he gets angry he's just impossible to talk to and we haven't spoken since really

StargazyDrifter · 29/12/2018 12:23

FuzzyPixel oh no! I'd still put that down as progress though. Hope you're feeling a little better again tomorrow, and the next day.

Yes, have also been off dick. Between the bloat and the nausea it's not been very romantic, at all. I've also been sleeping with a bowl by my side of the bed. ☹️

As others have said Kentishgal was taking a bit of time to concentrate on family stuff. Hope she's ok and coming back soon.

I've also been sleeping terribly and then finding it hard to get up, TheScaredyKat. Completely feel your pain, it's not like it's deliberate.

Has anyone been doing kegels? Is there an idiot-proof description online somewhere of what exactly is required?

Michelle0507 · 29/12/2018 12:27

I'm back struggling to sleep I thought it was due to worrying but I am literally just wide awake, so annoying when the other half is asleep next to you a cat asleep on your feet and 2 others asleep on the floor!!

Sounds so pathetic but I do wonder how the cats will cope with a baby, 2 out of 3 hide the second a child comes into the house. I guess they're just used to the peace and quiet. Lol x

TheScaredyKat · 29/12/2018 13:03

I've just downloaded an app called CALM it's guided meditations and stories to help you drop off. I'm doing a 7 day free trial but you have to pay after that so not sure I'll keep it. My problem isn't getting to sleep it's staying asleep, but maybe I need to be playing the app several times a night to get back off every time. I'll let you know how I get on with it anyway

Michelle0507 · 29/12/2018 13:35

My GP recommended an app can't remember which, that was also free for 7 days.

Some times I get to sleep fine for 3-4 hours and then I'm wide awake. Other times it'll be 2am and I still won't have been to sleep!!!

Just taken all the Christmas stuff down, the lounge feels so much bigger and cleaner now! :D

TheScaredyKat · 29/12/2018 13:54

Re Kegels, the instructions I've heard are just to squeeze the muscles that stop you peeing. I've been trying but I'm worried I'm not doing very well, apparently you should be able to hold the squeeze until at least 6 seconds. I count but after about 3 I realise I'm not actually holding it anymore! It's not a deliberate relaxing I just don't seem to be able to hold it for that long!

ReginaPhalange89 · 29/12/2018 14:38

Haha yeah definitely do the pelvic floor exercises if you can, after 2 kids and not doing them , I literally have to cross my legs every time I sneeze . And I can no longer do star jumps 😂🙈

Jxtina86 · 29/12/2018 15:19

I had the Calm app but only the freebie stuff. If you like listening to stuff to get to sleep I highly recommend ASMR videos on YouTube or the Sleep With Me podcast. I listen to the latter - the guy just rambles and has the most monotone voice that I'm asleep within 10mins.

HchyScott · 29/12/2018 15:43

Just been and played with a few pushchairs for the first time! Very exciting and lots to take in, amazing what you like and dislike when you see them and test them. We like the oyster3 as a value for money all rounder, thought id like the icandy but really disliked them and loved the egg but what a price tag 😳
We’ve gotta get saving lol! I think we will get everything else second hand bar a travelsystem. Anyone done any shopping yet?

FuzzyPixel · 29/12/2018 16:02

Thanks all! I'm sure I'll be better in no time. Strangely just plain water seems to be an absolute no-no for me. Lots of flat lemonade or flavoured water (which I never used to drink before!)

No shopping here yet @HchyScott, our 12 week scan is next week. If it goes well, then as soon as I'm well enough after that we will have a look. We have started a spreadsheet, and listing things we will need. DH has started planning the rest of the renovations at home - he's literally working on the dining room right now. We have started writing a to-do list as well.

There is so much we want to do, it's quite overwhelming. It's scary to think we're already a quarter of the way there in terms of meeting the little one but haven't done very much work at all.

TwinkleDay · 29/12/2018 16:05

@HchyScott we had our appointment at mamas and papas this morning and too was playing with Prams buggy's Cots and car seats... the flip x2 is quite good they have a bundle on in store where you can get the lot... car seat, isofix base, buggy base, flat crib stroller and pushchair bit £1200 down to £749 and if you spend over £1500 in total can get £150 extra off... presuming that will be the out lay to start off with and we got border biscuits and free gift :)

BirthdayKake · 29/12/2018 16:10

I've bought a Sleepyhead from eBay and am planning on getting either the Oyster 2 or Zero pram. Will also get another Mamaroo. Luckily I've got quite a lot left over from last time.

TheScaredyKat · 29/12/2018 16:15

Oh god you're all scaring me! We've not looked at buying anything yet. Got no space or money yet, need to sort the house out first!

HchyScott · 29/12/2018 16:16

I love that you have a spreadsheet @FuzzyPixel if I had a laptop that would be exactly what I’d do! Although DH is excited about buying new things, he’s much more reluctant to do anything in the house, keeps saying “there’s plenty of time” he will have to pull his finger out soon!
@TwinkleDay ah that’s our next stop, I’ve heard they are very good in there unlike in morhercare! The oyster 3 12 piece ultimate package was £949 and the 7 piece luxury package was £879 so such good value for money and the one we liked the most. Will definitely look at the flip x2 too, I’ve only got a polo so folded size is really important.

Laburna · 29/12/2018 16:20

We have the flip XT2 and I love it. Am really sad we will have to swap it for a tandem one. Not sure I'll ever find one I like as much 😭

Jxtina86 · 29/12/2018 16:24

It's reassuring that others are looking at stuff! I've been doing some casual pram research but not planning on doing any actual shopping till after 20 weeks. For us, we need something that works for walking and public transport. We don't have a car but that might change in a year or so. I'm getting very confused about car seats - I get that isofix is the ideal but can you still fasten most in using a seatbelt?! We'll have to get a taxi back from the hospital after birth (No family nearby) so need a car seat for sure!

StargazyDrifter · 29/12/2018 16:25

Oh my, reading this is quite scary (in a good way!). Haven't bought anything, have a John Lewis baby appointment in Feb but I think I need to get my act together a bit more. I don't even know what all these things are...

FuzzyPixel · 29/12/2018 16:25

@TheScaredyKat it's the house that is scaring me at the moment. We're trying to figure out which rooms we need to move, and decorate!

We have four bedrooms for the two of us, so at the minute one is our bedroom, one is a den (bit of a movie room and has a great sofa bed in so is a spare room for guests), one is a bedroom for the dogs (I do a lot of dog training, so lots of equipment), then the last room is a big office/craft space.

I think we're going to move our bedroom into the office/craft space, and stick a desk downstairs into the study half of the dining room (two rooms, knocked through, but still two zones) and then put a nursery in our current bedroom. DH disagrees though.

It's a complete brain-melter. Any room movement is going to cause full decluttering, on top of all of the actual decoration. It's an old 1930s house, and the last owner wasn't great, so a little job often turns into a lot of work.

I tend to wake up panicking about menial things. The big one recently was flooring. DH had really bad dust allergies as a child so they ended up replacing all the floors in the spaces he spent time in, so that the floors were wipe clean...

FuzzyPixel · 29/12/2018 16:27

@HchyScott spreadsheets are definitely my thing. This one is Google drive, so on my phone, and shared which means DH and I can access it anytime we're out and if we see something.

TwinkleDay · 29/12/2018 16:30

Thing is mother care is closing 30 stores by june... so there might be bargains there.. went for a look round Ikea but the stuff in there looked flimsy compared to mamas and papas and they don't do cot beds which i think is a great idea.

Good luck trying to buy if you have no money... I know it's not the answer to everything but surely forward planning and the best start off in life for them would be best?

TheScaredyKat · 29/12/2018 16:38

Me to @FuzzyPixel we only moved in at the end of July. Had the windows and doors done in December, its 1900 house and damp has been springing up everywhere since the winter started!! Need to do the heating next in the new year then rearrange everything so we've got a nursery and decorate but need to banish this damp and mould everywhere somehow!!
