Thanks @StargazyDrifter ! And congrats again, your baby already looks v cute.
I looked at those pillows too and thought they were too big! But I love the look of how snuggly they are.

TwinkleDay · 28/12/2018 19:59

I have got a memory foam latex normal pillow and a fat normal one which I use to roll over side to side as previously slept on my front or back... also bought a whole new 3000 pocket spring memory mattress when we found out and it's great.. love my own bed

MakeAWhish · 28/12/2018 20:09

@TwinkleDay my bed is awful, what mattress do you have? Love a recommendation!

ReginaPhalange89 · 28/12/2018 20:13

Thanks all! Think I might end up just getting a huge one !
@Jxtina86 how do you use the v shaped one ? I can't picture how you'd use it ! I like the long ones so you can use it for your head/neck as well as bump, but I guess a v shape plus a normal pillow would work too!

Jxtina86 · 28/12/2018 20:21

@ReginaPhalange89 I have my two normal pillows for my head and then position the v pillow so it's shoulder level/just below my normal pillows and lie between it. At that height it's long enough to lean my bloat/stomach against it. Hope that makes sense?!

StargazyDrifter · 28/12/2018 21:11

Just did the baking soda test. No reacton at all, so apparently girl. Same as the Chinese predictor. We shall see!

TwinkleDay · 28/12/2018 21:18

@MakeAWhish www.ahf.co.uk/highgate-airgen-3000-mattress.html it's lovely

ememem84 · 28/12/2018 21:34

I borrowed a dreamgenii one from a friend last time but may get a full body one this time. Comfort is the way forwards.

BirthdayKake · 28/12/2018 21:46

Ooh Twinkle that looks gorgeous! Do you not need a mattress topper or anything then?

Twistering · 28/12/2018 22:18

Simba mattress = amazing!

wombatron · 28/12/2018 22:18

Ok so how much bicarb to pee are we talking here? I'm curious to give this a go!

Chinks123 · 28/12/2018 22:54

I haven’t actually tried it yet, but google says add one teaspoon to your urine. I’m not sure if that’s what everyone’s done? I guess you don’t want to wee in it and have it start fizzing up Grin

HchyScott · 28/12/2018 23:16

Hi all, I’ve had a few days off here indulging in family time food and a naughty Buck’s Fizz or two! Announced our news on Facebook on Xmas day and had the loveliest messages, all in all a very emotional happy Christmas. Sooo lovely to come on here and catch up with all the fabulous scan news and laugh and psycho Claire #offyoufuckclaire 🤣
Definitely want to give the bicarb test a go tomorrow, I’m the only one who thinks I’m having a girl! Mainly because of this horrendous acne, going to call the docs tomorrow and book my 16week appointment and flu jab too hopefully!

StargazyDrifter · 28/12/2018 23:40

So according to the internet, there is no actual science to the bicarbonate test and it's all an old wives' tale. It also said that the same person can have a different result week to week, depending on diet. However, that didn't stop me! 😂 It's a lighthearted distraction anyway.

I put about 1 tablespoon of bicarbonate in an old jam jar, peed on top (hadn't occurred to me about the potential for masses of fizz!). When there was no reaction I sort of swished it round a little and still nothing. Definitely one of the stranger things I've done!

FuzzyPixel · 29/12/2018 00:07

Thanks for asking @Trying2bemum I'm really lucky because my GP is amazing. She's really supportive and was incredibly helpful during our infertility tests. If it wasn't for her, and our incredible surgeon, we would not have had the opportunity to be parents.

The blood, as suspected, is just because of the frequent sickness. I said that my throat just feels so unclean, even though I practise good oral health, she said it's because of the acid from the sickness and gave me a prescription mouthwash. She also asked if I had reconsidered the antiemetics.

I'm 11 weeks now, so if the sickness does end towards the end of the first trimester, then there is no point messing around with them as long as I can stay hydrated. I've already been sick for six weeks, so another couple won't hurt! My mum and sister were sick all the way through their pregnancies, and my sister ended up hospitalised on more than one occasion, so I have said that if I'm still ill at 13/14 weeks then I'll try the antiemetics.

I just want to get to the scan now. I want to be able to be excited. My husband is reading pregnancy and parenting books, planning the house renovations and just really getting into it. He's mega supportive and I just want to be able to be excited with him. He bought a personalised maternity t-shirt, which was incredibly sweet.

I am so, so reluctant to complain about being sick though because we worked so hard to get here.

StargazyDrifter · 29/12/2018 00:29

FuzzyPixel glad the blood wasn't something more serious than sickness. Your GP does sound amazing! Hang in there. You sound so thoughtful and patient with it all. Hopefully not long now.

I've got HG too, not a massive fan of the tablets because they make me very drowsy and, for no real gain, I'd rather not. My sickness is slowly starting to get a little better now (12+5). It's not as sudden as a cloud lifting, not so far anyway, but I'm able to eat a little more and fewer things make me throw up. Nausea is also no longer permanent, albeit still unpredictable. I'm finding that new gripes are replacing the sickness ones - hip pain, can't walk as fast as DH, strange twitching pains inside. I guess this is how it goes on.

TwinkleDay · 29/12/2018 08:03

@BirthdayKake I haggled down free delivery, a bamboo mattress protector and several ornaments from the shop floor pmsl...

After 12 weeks after conception on the previous mattress we have just ahem 'christened' the new one... sex seems better when your pregnant 😉... or maybe it's just because it's been so long.. he didn't want to hurt little one 🥰

wombatron · 29/12/2018 08:07

Has anyone seen Kentishgal who is the OP for this thread? Or have I missed something? I don't think I missed any badness, but maybe a name change?

FuzzyPixel · 29/12/2018 08:53

@wombatron I don't think Kentishgal has been back since her mum's fall sadly. I hope she is doing okay.

@StargazyDrifter I am absolutely looking forward to a break from the nausea. This morning I fancied breakfast, like actually desired food! Unfortunately, I was sick within two minutes of putting my bowl down. Oh the joys... Haha

Onestep2 · 29/12/2018 09:17

@twinkleday glad to see your back on the wagon so to speak 😉 is anyone else still off the dick hahaha

I'm 13+4 now and have found the sickness has reduced massively over last 2/3 weeks. Still get really strong waves of naseau now n then and smells still set me off but no where near as bad as it was!!

DH has however infected me with the lurgy. Planning my revenge... is death to much?

BirthdayKake · 29/12/2018 09:27

Onestep2 glad you're feeling a bit better. This gives me hope! And yeh definitely still off the dick. It's not essential to my life right now😂 plus anything I do when sick makes me sick for like years afterwards so I probably shouldn't add sex to the list!

TwinkleDay I admire your haggling confidence!

Hope KentishGirl is ok x

HchyScott · 29/12/2018 09:37

@onestep2 yep, still off the dick! Although the nausea has subsided the constipation has not and I’ve found even sitting down uncomfortable at times so haven’t even considered doing the deed until that improves lol!

wombatron · 29/12/2018 10:21

I was never off it to be fair Grinbut I've had a run of bad health (extreme nausea, then food poisoning, now a cold) so it has been slightly less!

TheScaredyKat · 29/12/2018 10:41

I've done a U turn and am now ravenously horny. DH doesn't know that though, he's missing out because he's decided to behave like a childish controlling idiot.

Michelle0507 · 29/12/2018 10:44

Woke up this morning and my bump has gone!?! Got a right flat tummy - odd!

I haven't had dick since Oct so I'd say I'm off it. Lol
