@Michelle0507 yeah its on Monday. But I may book a private one this week due to anxiety and my chat with the midwife earlier. How about you?

TwinkleDay · 18/12/2018 19:53

13 and a half hours until my first scan at 9.10am 😬😬😬 nervous x

Michelle0507 · 18/12/2018 19:57

@blueeyedviking mine isn't until 31st! :( I was going to ring MW about anxiety etc and try to get seen at EPAU. I'll be 13w when I have my scan and it's ages away!

blueeyedviking · 18/12/2018 20:14

@Twinkleday I would be nervous too! Keep us posted Smile

@michelle0507 Have you tried calling them and ask to move it? Some people have had luck in that... But yeah know all about the anxiety feeling, its such a lonely place.

Trying2bemum · 18/12/2018 20:31

Hi everyone hope it's okay if I join? I'm 9 weeks tomorrow with my first baby - long awaited after three years of trying and three IVF cycles. Struggling with anxiety a bit but trying to take each day as it comes and feel grateful to get this far.

Can relate to a lot of the symptoms on here! My appetite is through the roof - I've lived on pasta and cheese - I want really bland food. I am also addicted to orange juice with water and ice. I'm very tired - in the evenings particularly - but sleep quite badly - have to get up to pee and then my mind goes into overdrive..

Getting some mild twinges and pains in my tummy area but nothing significant and hoping it's things stretching. My jeans are starting to feel a bit tight but perhaps that's al the pasta and cheese...

I've got my booking in appointment and first NHS scan in early Jan. It feels strange to 'graduate' from the fertility clinic! We had a few early scans with them and saw a heartbeat at 8 weeks so hopefully little one is okay in there 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

FuzzyPixel · 18/12/2018 20:40

Hi @Trying2be, please do!

How are you finding pregnancy post-IVF? My husband and I have been trying for four and a bit years due to a zero sperm count. We had one round of IVF, which was unsuccessful, and then we had surgery to help try and 'fix' the cause of the zero sperm count. We had the results from the surgery on the 1st December, and literally the next day, we discovered that we were expecting!

After years of being told no, it has taken sore adjustment to realise that this IS actually happening, which is that strange 'graudation' feeling!

FuzzyPixel · 18/12/2018 20:41

Some* I should proof-read!

ememem84 · 18/12/2018 22:06

I weighed myself today. Have lost weight. Hm. Only 0.8kg. But still.

Still no scan date. Annoying. And have convinced myself I’m further along that I thought. Was convinced I could feel baby moving today. However am sure it’s just wind. I don’t think I felt ds move until around 16 weeks.

I also convinced myself something’s wrong today. No reason. Just don’t feel right. No symptoms to suggest anything is wrong. Just twitching away in my brain. I’ve said to dh if I haven’t got a scan date by the end of the week I’m gettinf a private one. It’s pricey £300. But if it puts my mind at rest then worth it surely? there’s also part of me that thinks this is someone’s idea of a big joke and I’m not actually pregnant and it’s a test by dh to see whether I really wanted dc2 or whether I wanted ds to be an only. But I know that’s ridiculous

But will mention all of this at midwife appointment on Thursday.

Trying2bemum · 19/12/2018 06:42

@FuzzyPixel that's amazing, you must have been astonished! Had the surgery worked then? Failed IVF is devastating, I feel for you. As is infertility- the last few years are a blur of grief, frustration and longing.

I've been in denial to be honest, all I kept saying was "I can't believe it" for the first week or so. Then I started spotting and bleeding a bit - was convinced it was over and mentally started planning more IVF. Things got better at week 8 - we saw the heart beat and the bleeding stopped. My symptoms are pretty reassuring so I'm starting to believe it!

How are you finding it?

TwinkleDay · 19/12/2018 07:31

Today is the day eek, 😬 nervous. Now how to drink 1.5 pints of water and not wee x

Capybaras · 19/12/2018 10:08

Hope it goes well @TwinkleDay - keep us updated!

Michelle0507 · 19/12/2018 10:21

I'm so excited for you!

When I go to my scan I have to take a urine sample with me, they haven't sent a pot out though!!

Trouble2cats · 19/12/2018 11:01

Good luck @TwinkleDay!

I had a scan after yesterday's bleed. All is well, measured one day "off" my estimate (with irregular cycles), so that's good. We also saw a heartbeat. So relieved!

reeny19 · 19/12/2018 11:23

Michelle they prob won’t be sending out a pot - I’d go to the GP and ask for one. When I worked at a hospital we never sent pots out and many would just turn up with the samples in all sorts of makeshift containers 🙈

Excellent news @trouble2cats!

BirthdayKake · 19/12/2018 11:24

Good luck TwinkleDay! Sorry I haven't posted on here much, just so sick! Two weeks today until my scan. Wish it would hurry up!

thedust · 19/12/2018 11:35

Michelle0507 I had this panic before my booking in appointment and didn't have time to go to my GP before it. When I got there, the toilets in the waiting room had loads of sample pots! I'd just get there a bit earlier and ask on reception maybe if they have a pot.

ememem84 £300 seems a lot for a private scan, where are you? We had one done last week that was £55 but it was at the hospital. I think between £50-100 seems average from what people have said on here.

TwinkleDay hope it goes well!

Trying2bemum · 19/12/2018 11:48

Best of luck @TwinkleDay

Great news @Trouble2cats 😄

TwinkleDay · 19/12/2018 12:08

Hello everyone I had a good morning, very active baby they did backflips and was waving there hands all over the place now measuring 12+6 and 6.5cm !! Due date still 27th june as I though as I had short cycles... but they weren’t able to measure fluid at the back of head as wigglebum kept moving so back again to see them again Xmas eve 15.10... that’s the day we are telling my parents.

The appointment was 20 mins late though and I really really needed a wee. 😍😍😍 Amazing.. thank you for all the kind wishes xxx

BirthdayKake · 19/12/2018 12:17

Ahhh brilliant news Twinkle!

Capybaras · 19/12/2018 12:33

That's brilliant news @TwinkleDay lovely you'll get to see baby again too in a few days!

I've got my early reassurance scan Saturday - was anyone else worried that there won't actually be a baby in there? That all the BFPs weren't real! It's so odd that I'll only get my first bloods at my 12 week scan - I could be making up this pregnancy for all the midwives know (I'm not!)

Capybaras · 19/12/2018 12:35

Also TMI but is anyone else's wee really strong smelling? I'm trying to drink as much as possible but my wee today is not smelling good! Never had an UTI before but not in any pain so assuming it's not one!

BirthdayKake · 19/12/2018 12:43

I know what you mean Capy. And the bloods you take don't even show that you're pregnant. I did one year of a midwifery degree and my mentor said that there had been women in the past who'd lied about the pregnancy Shock

I had a very early scan in November but you couldn't really see anything, so I'll be really shocked to see an actual baby in there!

Just won a Sleepyhead deluxe on eBay, hope it's as good as the reviews say...

ReginaPhalange89 · 19/12/2018 13:31

Brilliant news @twinkleday ! I wish my 12 weeks would hurry up , as much as I don't want to wish Christmas away ! Haha.

Does anyone else have a permanent bad taste in their mouth ? It's horrible ! I feel like i need to keep drinking but I'm not enjoying the taste of anything at the monite , I've even gone off fizzy drinks which im normally addicted to

wombatron · 19/12/2018 13:32

I feel like my scan is forever away!!! It's not till mid January Sad

I have another scan this Sunday privately paid, but then it's like a 3 week wait! I think I'm likely one of the latest ones... knowing my luck I'll be shoved back into August. We knew from 3 weeks so it's already been bloody ages!

StargazyDrifter · 19/12/2018 13:39

I definitely have the wee problem too, Capybaras. I'd been blaming that on Pregnacare.

Interesting about people making up pregnancies. I suppose that happens across the medical specialisms and for varied and complicated reasons. Sad though, and ultimately inefficient. I guess there's some kind of calculation that these cases are rare and it'd cost more/take longer to test everyone before they're allowed to self-refer. I'm pretty sure they asked for a wee sample at my booking appointment. They also ask for one at my EPU. Maybe that was why.
