@buggles1 I am so so sorry. What horrible news.. Sad

I'm still here. I am really struggling with exhaustion so not had much to give on the thread.. I'm almost 12 weeks and today I've had weird aches and pains. Makes me really paranoid especially after what others in this group has experienced. My DH isn't normally good but the last week he has been so stressed due to work and personal stuff he isnt being very supportive. Yesterday I told him I was so tired I started crying as didn't know what to do with myself - he laughed! He said that I was funny. Well I'm not finding it funny. He just doesn't get it. Angry

@squ1ggle I have my 12 week scan on Christmas eve too! Have you had one privately done already? This would be my first... Nerve wracking.

@kentishgal How far along are you? My symptoms changed a bit around week 10, now have different ones but they are very up and down..

@thescaredycat @chinks123 - amazing! So happy for you both.

Kentishgal · 17/12/2018 18:13

squ1ggle - do you know how much you lost or can they check your previous notes?

@kentishgal I think that if you stress yourself with worry then you should speak to the midwife. But it is completely normal for symptoms to go up and down.

Kentishgal · 17/12/2018 18:17

Thanks blueeyedviking - with my daughter I never went online or read anything so I guess it was a case of "ignorance is bliss" - but this time I'm hearing lots of stories and maybe panicking more than I should.

@blueeyedviking your dh needs to step up, I've been really struggling the past few weeks and dh has literally done everything even though he's had a hard few months and is exhausted himself.
Yes we had a private scan at 9.5 mainly because I'd convinced myself it was twins (they run in the family) and I was panicking about it. My midwife today was very dismissive of them because she sees so many panicked pregnant women who have had misinformation from private sonographers and think there's something wrong so go to the nhs very stressed etc. I do completely understand that but for me who just wanted to see if there was one baby or two it was just what I needed then.
@Kentishgal yes she had my notes in front of her, she did say that her computer was being silly and she might see more on a different machine but she wasn't concerned at all. At the time I was completely oblivious but I know they told me I'd had a bleed and dh says he saw a lot of blood but they checked my iron levels and I was completely fine, didn't need a transfusion or anything so it probably just wasn't enough to be classed as a pph.
I'm just happy that I don't have to be hooked up to anything, it's an amazing women's hospital so if anything similar did happen again I know I'd be well looked after

blueeyedviking · 17/12/2018 18:32

Thanks @squ1ggle - you are right. He does need to just get with it. He is normally good and helpful but not at the moment. He is away travelling now so will deal with it when he is back.

StargazyDrifter · 17/12/2018 18:36

Chinks123 and ScaredyKat, lovely news! 💜

Kentishgal I'm convinced that my symptoms have disappeared too this afternoon and that it's not great news. It's similar dates to my MMC this time last year, so trying to stay rational, but it's a bit of a worry. No way of knowing if this is progress towards the second trimester (10+5) or not... scan is tempting. How many weeks were you again?

StargazyDrifter · 17/12/2018 18:37

Sorry I see you're at a similar stage to me, let's keep an eye on it. Ugh.

TwinkleDay · 17/12/2018 18:55

@Buggles1 awful news, thinking of you, I was hoping all the bad news would of cleared up my now, try to be kind to yourself and have a good Xmas.

My symptoms stopped about 3 weeks ago really what little ones I had.. just hungry if I don’t eat a lot and tired if I have a full on day.

Congratulations those with positive scans.. amazing news x

cravingmilkshake · 17/12/2018 19:06

Hi all,

I had my reassurance scan- thought I was 8+2 but coming in at 8+4. Strong fast heartbeat and limb buds ok! She did detect a small bleed internally but did tell me to take it easy and it shouldn't be an issue.

I am so happy - fingers crossed for the next 4 weeks Smile

StargazyDrifter · 17/12/2018 19:47

Aww that's so very lovely cravingmilkshake!

I think I might just wait it out for my 12 week scan next Friday, rather than do a reassurance scan this week as well. Unless I get any more reason to worry.

TheScaredyKat · 17/12/2018 19:48

@Kentishgal My symptoms definitely changed around 10 weeks aswell so that seems quite normal. Maybe see how you get in the next few days. At first I thought symptoms had vanished but then I just got different symptoms instead. Suffering dreadful headaches now! I preferred the nausea

TheScaredyKat · 17/12/2018 19:51

Michelle0507 · 17/12/2018 19:54

I'm still in limbo what to do trying to pluck up the courage to ring MW tomorrow and see if EPAU will see me or pay £60 for a scan Sat if it's still available. I just have no symptoms which I suppose I haven't felt sick much since 7w and I had a scan at 8w3d. I do feel hungry more and feel sick if I don't eat. Anxiety is awful I work with children with anxiety and I can really understand how they feel now! :(

Laburna · 17/12/2018 19:54

I've got my scan tomorrow, so this may be retracted tomorrow .....

But, my symptoms have gone. I still have a little nausea, but the kind when you are super tired and haven't eaten in ages. But pretty much all the rest has gone. Even the bloat has gone and I look less fat - though I can feel/see the bump just starting just under my pants. (I'm on my second and other than my new spare tyre pretty slim which may help in seeing this).

I think it's meant to be that once the placenta kicks in and starts doing its business, the symptoms will stop. Mine stopped both really gradually and also very suddenly. I had been having nausea and sickness and super tired etc, and then they started to fade and I'd have days when they didn't start until later in the day, or wore off quicker, and then suddenly one day, they just weren't there. I don't think it's a bad sign that things are getting better, or have improved suddenly.

wombatron · 17/12/2018 20:09

I agree it's not a bad thing that things get better suddenly. I managed to eat chicken today, first time in 3 weeks I've eaten meat which is good news! My boobs nausea is more manageable also. Welcome back to those that have reappeared! Hope you're all feeling better.

I had my booking appointment today. Surprisingly my trust (London based) are quite supportive of home births even for a first timer, so providing all goes well for the next 7 months I should be able to have what I want which has reduced some stress.

My cramps feel a bit like period pain. Like that weird tingling. Is that normal do we think? I honestly could be on my period it's so the same. Not painful, just the same sensation???

wombatron · 17/12/2018 20:10

And good luck @Laburna , what time is your appointment?

Laburna · 17/12/2018 20:17

Midday @wombatron, great news about the home birth. My MW was super sheepish and apologetic when she gave me a leaflet about birth options, knowing I'm consultant led so will have no other viable birth options (not that I mind).

I've had cramps, not bad ones like the first few weeks, but noticeably there. I find they're worse when I need the toilet 😳🤭 I'm guessing the baby is squashing everything now and I'm just noticing pain - feeling stuff, not sure it's pain - more.

Michelle0507 · 17/12/2018 20:25

Does anyone get pains in their foof (or whatever you may call it) I've had it a few times, doesn't last long. This may be tmi but does anyone get a fair bit of discharge? A few times I've run to the loo thinking it was a bleed. I did have a water infection which I had antibiotics so assume that's cleared.

Michelle0507 · 17/12/2018 20:26

@Laburna I hope your scan goes well.x

TwinkleDay · 17/12/2018 20:35

@Michelle0507 I have had some foof twinges every now and then... not painful though and no tummy pains really which I think is a good sign... this time next week it will be Xmas eve evening omg 😮

ReginaPhalange89 · 17/12/2018 20:47

I can't believe it's only a week ! Is anyone else totally lacking in Christmas spirit ? I think my mind is too focused on other things . It's so unlike me too, I normally feel so festive in November lol. I love wrapping presents and have planned to do it when the kids go to bed but I just don't have the energy most nights and end up going to sleep by 9 haha

TheScaredyKat · 17/12/2018 20:51

@Michelle0507 I've had all sorts of weird feelings down there and in my tummy. Yesterday I had a pain in my tummy and I put my hand there and it felt like things were moving around in there and just me giving it a poke seemed to help. Also more discharge, I wouldn't say a lot but definitely not normal for me.

Good luck for your scan tomorrow @Laburna I'm sure it will be fab!!

Michelle0507 · 17/12/2018 20:57

I don't feel up for Christmas I haven't put any effort in, tree looks naff, presents don't look great and I haven't put much effort into presents. I think my original due date being yesterday and not getting a scan before Christmas is the main reason.

Glad the foof pain isn't just me, I will keep an eye on the discharge may speak to the MW.

I can't believe I lost a stone between like 6w & 9w. I think I've put some back on, depends on the bloat!

ememem84 · 17/12/2018 21:02

michelle yes to both. I think the term “fanny daggers” has been used previously. And yes loads more discharge. Ick. Hate that word. Yuk.

Called antenatal clinic earlier to see if they could tell me anything re my scan. They have apparently sorted everything with midwife who will call me and sort out the appointment. I have an appointment with midwife on Thursday so will ask then if I haven’t heard anything. I wanted the scan before Christmas just to see how far along I am! Going by lmp (although wasn’t real as was on the pill...) I’m 8 weeks. But it could be 10.

Once I know dates I can plan around things.
