Totally get that stargazydrifter - my in-laws are v similar by the sounds of it. My MiL passed away in august but I also have a step-MiL to contend with! When I bled and had to go to hospital my sister was coming to visit (she lives over 200 miles away) so I had to tell her - and anyway I'm close to her. But because of that my husband said he wanted to tell his father and his wife. I wasn't planning to tell them until 20 wks otherwise.

We won't see my family Christmas day so I've wrapped up baubles that say baby due July 2019 and will give them a few days before !

We will be with DHs family Xmas day, I've bought one of those fill your own calendar things! So printing off family photos and then for July we will mark off the due date and put a scan photo or something . Going to give it to MIL as a gift, can't wait to see her flicking through the months and watch the penny drop! Haha

Bubble77bee · 15/12/2018 13:26

I’m only 8 weeks, so no where ready for maternity wear yet, but looking for a nice dress to wear on
Christmas Day. Not clingy in the stomach area, for obvious reasons. Has anyone seen anything that might fit the bill? Thinking a loose ish t shirt style dress but with a bit of glitz!

wombatron · 15/12/2018 13:45

Hi all. Hope you're keeping well. Been a bit absent the last few days. No reason other than busy. Thankfully my nausea seems to have kicked it. It's just back to feeling sick if I'm hungry, which happens at a moments notice Sadmy boobs are also less sore which worries me as last time I had a MMC between 6-10 weeks.... I'm currently 7+4 so a little paranoid. We've booked a scan for next Sunday so as whether or not to know if we have to keep the charade of me pretending to drink up or not. Sounds callous but I think it's how i process things and deal with it. That being said I've had so many more symptoms this time round compared to last time I'm convinced I'm ok Grin

I plan on having my baby at home and being able to make myself look a bit nicer than perhaps I'd be able to if I was on a ward or birthing suite.

@reginaPhalange89 that is such a great idea for telling them! there faces will be amazing

@stargazeyDrifter totally get why your not telling anyone! its just added stress sometimes that you dont need right now!

We havent decided how to tell the rest of fam who dont know yet but weve got a special present for DSD. going to wrap up a box and give it to her last after her other presents on Xmas morning and in it there will be a wee baby grow saying "i love my big sister " and a wee count down chalk board calender sayin "days till becomes a big sister. and we will put the scan photo and a wee cuddly toy and wee booties in it. i honestly CANNOT wait to see her wee face. shes 10. then we have her the full day fro xmas so it will be the most special xmas ever.

@Bumble77bee what about skater style dresses or shift style dresses? boohoo have a huge sale on right now of 24% off of everything!!

ReginaPhalange89 · 15/12/2018 14:47

I've really struggled to find anything to wear for Christmas either ! I'm fussy at the best of times I like to have long sleeves, not too short but also now can't have anything too clingy 🙈 it's proving difficult. Might end up just wearing my black skinny jeans and trying to get a nice floaty top.

I think we're going to tell my 6 year old at Christmas too but we will only be 9+1 so really not sure ! I feel reassured because we've had the scan but it's still so early. But everyone else will end up finding out so id like her to know !

ReginaPhalange89 · 15/12/2018 14:57

Also anything tight around my neck seems to be making me feel queasy too so that will rule out high neck as well 🙈 just had to take my hoody off because I felt sick wearing it lol

Onestep2 · 15/12/2018 15:04

The struggle for a Xmas day outfit is real.

ive ordered 5 potential outfits from boohoo today and i absolutly -wont- send the others back. hahaha

Michelle0507 · 15/12/2018 16:27

I've just contacted a local place for a private scan Sat I honestly have no symptoms I just can't cope my anxiety is taking over. The other half is not impressed he's like its fine just stop!

TwinkleDay · 15/12/2018 17:08

Thanks for those muff defluffing answers, how do you manage to get to it when you can’t see it ? 😂 selection of mirrors or is there some nifty device that helps lol

Onestep2 · 15/12/2018 17:13

@twinkleday my friend who had a baby last year swore by veet. Lol

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 15/12/2018 17:22

I need some advice.. today I accidentally had a bite of a Brie sandwich today. (Thought it was cheddar). Should I be worried? What's the risk to the baby?

(Probably over reacting!)

TwinkleDay · 15/12/2018 17:25

@onestep2 I have been told hair removal cream is dangerous because of the toxins in it

TwinkleDay · 15/12/2018 17:29

Ah fek, just realised I get my brows topped up in Feb ( micro pigmentated) and won’t be able to do until later on, drat.

Toria73 · 15/12/2018 18:13

Hola, just checking in & catching up on all the chat. My heart goes out to those who have had to leave this thread.
@Onestep2 you’re so much better than me, I would have told Claire that she’d be the first to know once I’d informed the 250 people who matter to me most.

Onestep2 · 15/12/2018 18:30

@twinkleday I just googled using veet while pregnant and it seems like it's deemed safe to do so! Either that or waxing lol there is No way shaving will be an option before labour hahaha

StargazyDrifter · 15/12/2018 18:43

Doughnuts you'd have to be pretty unlucky to get the downside from one bite. It's only a risk (albeit a signofocant one), not a certainty. Keep an eye on how you feel over the next 24 hours. It will probably be ok.

Kentishgal sorry you have strange in-laws too. Awkward situation with the earlier bleeding. Hope they've been behaving so far.

Regina I have serious problems with anything like polo necks too, even outside of pregnancy. Never managed to get over it. I feel you pain.

My Christmas Day outfit will probably be stretchy skinny jeans and a smart but loose-fitting glittery jumper with a boat neck, it's a sort of mesh-like weave of grey wool and silver glitter. Hides a multitude of sins. I have a bit of a pot belly at the best of times, though even all the usual tactics aren't going to help much longer, I fear!

RooKangaroo · 15/12/2018 18:45

I've got a trimmer I use at these times - like a man's beard trimmer. It's electric and there are adapters you put on to decide the length of hair to cut to. Cost maybe a tenner on Amazon.

With the smallest adapter on it's not sharp and I find it really safe, so when heavily pregnant last time I just took some time feeling it around down there and tried to cover as much of the area as possible. Because it's not a shave or wax i figured it didn't matter if I missed a bit as it wouldn't show so drastically 🤷🏼‍♀️.

I wasn't particularly vain about it, but I was glad I did it as I ended up with an EMCS and they would have shaved across the top before surgery. This way it was all out of the way anyway.

RooKangaroo · 15/12/2018 18:47

@StargazyDrifter, your Christmas too sounds lovely!

Also with those who don't like polo/high necks on clothes. They make me claustrophobic even at the best of times - even seeing one on a model makes me shudder.

TwinkleDay · 15/12/2018 20:44

is anyone getting there partners anything for Xmas baby related? I have got a survival guide for OH which is funny.. don’t want to get too carried away until after scan Wednesday to confirm my belly is growing correctly.. :)

MakeAWhish · 15/12/2018 21:22

Yeah I've bought loads of dad to be stuff for his stocking. Got a bit carried away 😂

Michelle0507 · 15/12/2018 21:47

I wanted to but I can't bring myself too much worry and anxiety. :( It's his birthday 3rd Jan and we'll have had a scan by then so if things are okay I'll get bits for his Birthday

TwinkleDay · 15/12/2018 21:50

@michelle0507 OMG it’s my OH 30th on 3rd jan too... isn’t it annoying having birthday stuff so close to Xmas.. hence the reason wanted a summer baba

Michelle0507 · 15/12/2018 22:03

His 30th was last year! His Dads is the 20th also, so yes very annoying! I never know what to get him and it doesn't help when you've just spent loads on Christmas. @TwinkleDay

Tomorrow is my original due date, very mixed emotions!x

MakeAWhish · 15/12/2018 22:06

My OH is 33 on the 4th Jan!
