So basically the last couple of weeks we’ve been monitored for pre eclampsia. It’s never delveloped... luckily... but they decided to give me sweeps from 38 weeks. So Monday I went in for my sweep.... all great. Started contracting, had lost my plug on the Friday anyway... Monday night big gush of blood... off to hospital. They decided to break my waters as I was have contractions, 3cm dialated, off we go. My natural water birth DID NOT HAPPEN!! Instead, I had to be induced as I wasn’t dilating after they broke my waters, then I had to be induced, then I had to have an epidural, I was strapped to a bed and highly monitored, then when it came to birth, we had about 20 people in the room worried about his heart rate, he came out with suction in the end, a 2nd degree tear, a whole team of doctors, cord around his neck, bright blue... not breathing!!! My placenta then didn’t want to come away and there was a problem with the cord so they couldn’t pull it! You name it... it went pear shaped. But they team here at Kingston Hospital are amazing. And I’m now sat up in bed feeding my gorgeous bubba so none of this matters. And strangely I feel great!! 😍

Joshua Jack was born at 8.39pm weighing in at a whopping 8lb 7oz! Very speedy arrival after a slightly slow day. Dropped dd at nursery this morning, wandered round John Lewis at lunchtime, had a reflexology appointment at 2.30 then arrived at the hospital at 7.03 with no rooms free! It was a close call from getting from the assessment room to the delivery room but we made it. Even better is that I got away with just into a second degree tear due to my incredible incredible midwife! Just waiting on paperwork before heading home!

@December2018 hiya yes this last bit is going fast but also dragging at the same time. I had some pains in my lower back and stomach cramps early hours on and off, got it now too. When I went to see midwife on Wednesday she said baby's head was low down. . I asked how low is low. . .she said very VERY LOW. I am such a mixture of emotions at the moment. . excited but also really scared. Doesn't help that hubby is abroad and I have been in and out of hospital lile a yoyo, not the easiest of pregnancy. . but just praying I can make it to the end. My friend from work was my birthing partner but her mother has sadly had a stroke yesterday so if I do go into labour before 17/12 then I need to go by myself, my friend has enough to deal with. Plus with me being high risk my hospital is not in this city . .so I wouldnot expect her to be toing and froing, she needs to be with her mum bless her.
Have you tried almonds for your heartburn. . .I read it somewhere and it does ease it somewhat. . . let us know if you have any signs hun. . . wishing all who are due the very best and the easiest of births! Flowers

@Cakelaur oh you poor thing. That does sound all abit much. Like you say, everything that could have gone wrong, did. That’s why I’m not bothering with a birth plan. How you getting on at home with little Benjamin?
@MrsTeaPlease thinking of you today. Hope it all goes well. Keep us updated x x x
@balalalala Congratulations!!! What a lovely size. And love the name too. Hope it all went well. When I was at my hospital last for an anti-d, there were 2 women given birth in the maternity assessment unit due to no beds in the ward. I’m hoping that doesn’t happen to me 😳
Welcome to the group @aruba786 and @nos123. Not long left for either of you. I’m due the 28th so a while yet for me.
@aruba786 how come your husband is abroad. Is there no one else that can go with you?
X

Hey all - three days over, two sweeps, he not budging. He is low and cervix nicely effaced and soft so could come any time. Hang in there everyone x

Congratulations @balalalala - that's wonderful news! Hope you're home and enjoying the snuggles.

Ohh @Cakelaur that moment when everyone rushes into the room is so scary, I'm so glad to hear you're okay though. That placenta has been troublesome for you! Glad Kingston looked after you, they seem to be good! X

wondering if I could join in?

i'm due with my first (little boy) on 27th.. got a feeling it will be before that but OH would 'prefer' the new year, though I told him its not up to him and he's not carring this barrel around!

so lovely seeing all these babies being born, gets me excited!

Also nice to hear the birth stories, as scary as some sound everyone still seems upbeat about them! makes a change as I just keep hearing the horrendous ones Hmm

Thanks all! Yes, good to get home and get him into bed last night. Back to the hospital today for his checks and now back snuggling on the sofa. Dh is going to get dd from nursery shortly. Fingers crossed she accepts him!

41+1 today and no baby yet Sad

I had a sweep on Wednesday which was looking really positive as I was apparently already 3cm dilated and my cervix was favourable. I started to have contractions straight away, although they were not very painful. In the afternoon they really ramped up in frequency but not in intensity at all. They were about 3mins apart but not hugely painful so I went to MAU to get checked out and was still only 3cm so went home and contractions tailed off.

Thursday I had a show in the morning and I had stronger ones all day but further apart, they then stopped when I went to bed.

Friday, absolutely nothing! Have started to have a few strongish ones this evening but not frequent or regular so don’t think they will come to anything.

I have another sweep booked for tomorrow and an induction on Wednesday if all else fails.

I was induced with my son and it was a really horrible experience so I’ll be gutted if I have to be induced again.

@0lgaDaPolga was thinking about you today after looking through the spreadsheet thinking you must be next now. You poor thing. It must be this horrible weather. Baby doesn’t wanna come out. Keep us posted and I really hope things get moving for you soon.

Hi all, good look to everyone with twinges etc.
Aruba, I'm having a c section on the same day as you. Excited but very nervous! I hope it's not too painful afterwards... I have a very energetic 3.5 year old who jumps off everything into me.. Bump. Or no bump! X

3 days post C section recovery and doing well, managing to sit up without assistance now and muscles are getting stronger! Struggling with breast feeding at moment, had to give in to formula for tonight only as my breaths are both so utterly sore they are burning and throbbing and bleeding! Not sure if he’s not latching properly or something is wrong:( - loves formula guzzles it down and has slept better tonight so wondering if he’s not getting enough breast formula? Does anybody have any suggestions?!

Also I anxiety at nighttime for some reason, had a big cry last night! Presume this is hormones going crazy?

Anybody having a C section make sure you ask for some oral morphine to take home, it really helps just taking at night to ease the pain! The wound will sit right in the way of all joggers etc, so wear lots of bedtime nighties!, also found I can’t wear anything above the wound either as belly is so bruised (probably from pregnancy where baby was)!

Poor you! Day 3 is a key baby blues time which throws your emotions all over the place. It will pass but be kind to yourself. With my dd I remember crying for no reason then crying more because I realised it was for no reason.... Are you on the fb group too? There's a lady in this group who is a breastfeeding consultant who is giving fab advice but I'm not sure how much she's coming on here as I'm not sure of her username.

With my first, I really didn't take to breast feeding. It didn't feel right to me.. Which in turn made me feel awful... Where w as. My natural motherly instinct. Anyway, two days later they checked and he had a massive tongue tie. The next tongue tie clinic was 10 days away so I gave formula and felt so much happier. I could just focus on him and not worry that I was dreading every feed.
Just t say whatever you want t do is fine. Xx
