Commiserations! We have a similar issue with coffee in our household and DH is similarly careless. I don't think it's deliberate, they probably just don't see the scale of the problem. I've threatened to throw up all over him next time he does it. Grr.

blueeyedviking · 10/12/2018 07:06

Morning all.

Only two weeks until Christmas eve!

@Laburna & @stargazydrifter my DH is the same. So annoying so I've started telling him details about how I feel, making it as graphic as possible. Seem to do the trick!

I'm approaching 11 weeks and I thought things were supposed to get better... woke up at 3am so nauseous I had to go in to another room and breath slowly.. And today and tomorrow are of course the two biggest days work wise for me since I joined in January.. no-one knows I'm pregnant so will be interesting.

Hope you all have a good day!

Laburna · 10/12/2018 07:34

@blueeyedviking I hit 11 weeks yesterday and my night time nausea is still there, if I go to bed early I wake up at 3am, if I got to bed later I have to have a snack right before bedtime. I generally feel better other than that though, so I'm hoping this is the final bit now.

Definitely looking forward to a non-sicky Christmas!

I love the idea of the graphic description, will definitely have to try that one!

LCHF2018 · 10/12/2018 08:27

I had a private vaginal scan at 6w 5 d (live abroad) and sac etc all present and correct but no heartbeat.....hcg still rising but not doubling. Went from 13000 to 16000 over 3 days but not sure if that is awful as have read hcg takes longer to double after 6 weeks.... am 42 so i guess chance of mc is fairly high. I have another scan friday when i will be just under 8 weeks. The waiting is just horrendous! Anyone in similar boat?

NoParticularPattern · 10/12/2018 09:43

You’re not alone with the hyper sense of smell not helping things! DH gave DD strawberries for her breakfast this morning. I could smell them from upstairs (DH thinks I’m being dramatic) and had to go sit down and take some deep breaths. I think he’s forgotten how bad the sense of smell was last time and it has never really gone away! It just seems to be getting worse each time! I still feel absolutely awful and (sorry this is TMI so please feel free to scroll by....!) I have the most awful loose stools. Genuinely thought I was dying yesterday but seem somewhat improved today. Might even finish putting the decorations up. Very very tired- not making it downstairs after putting DD to bed most night so at least am managing some sleep, but DD is teething so that’s not helping! Fingers crossed I feel a lot better come about 14 weeks like last time- only 7 weeks (and several Christmas dinners to cook!) to go!!

TheScaredyKat · 10/12/2018 10:27

On the subject of stretch marks I'm really prone to them so I'm preparing early and already been using oil for a few weeks.
I'm using this: www.siskyn.co.uk/collections/elixir-blends/products/elixir-rosehip-tamanu-scars-stretchmark-body-oil
The smell is a bit weird and quite expensive but the reviews are really good and if it works I don't mind paying a bit more!

Belmo · 10/12/2018 12:48

I’m so covered in stretch marks from my last two pregnancies I’m not bothered this time, won’t make any difference! (That oil does look nice right enough, I like their facial oil..)
Haven’t felt sick for a few days now! (Am 10+2). Boobs still quite sore though.

Laburna · 10/12/2018 12:52

Am feeling so much better today, after a rather rough start to the night last night. I had breakfast with no feelings of sickness, managed my first cup of tea in 3 weeks, and since I've eaten a bucket load of fruit.

Obviously the skeptical monkey 🐒 thinks there's an issue but I'm trying to convince myself that it's because I'm in the homestretch of the 1st trimester, and/or it's an temporary reprieve and I'll feel horrendous again tomorrow 😂

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 10/12/2018 13:09

Hi ladies

Hoping to not be bringing more bad news.

Started bleeding last night. Bright red blood, which has stopped since. And now is small amounts of brown discharge only when I wipe.

I've got a scan booked for Wednesday.

Anyone here had anything similar with a positive outcome?

Chinks123 · 10/12/2018 13:42

Hi @ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts, I’m not sure how far along you are, but I had exactly the same in my previous pregnancy at around 7 weeks. Did you have any pain or pass any clots? Mine was just very heavy bright red blood, I had to wait a week for scan and all was fine, it was called a “resolving haemorrhage” Fingers crossed for you I hope everything’s ok! X

SnailorSwift · 10/12/2018 15:08

Hey lovelies.

Anyone not getting scan until 13 weeks. I've just called maternity hospital and they have my appointment scheduled for January 8th when I'll be 13+3 roughly (if my dates are even right?)

I'm not that happy to wait that long as I had complications in my last pregnancy. Really tbh feel like just booking private care now which I know maybe sounds like an over reaction but my experience last time left me with so little faith in my local maternity service and I need my mind put at rest. Waiting another 4 weeks is not going to help.

Delilah7 · 10/12/2018 15:12

@SnailorSwift I've got mine Xmas eve which will make me 13 weeks or so. I guess they can do it from 11+2 - 13+6 weeks... from what I've heard.
I'd like mine sooner too due to miscarrying before but guess nothing can do about x x

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 10/12/2018 15:37

@Chinks123 I should be 10 weeks on Wednesday. I had one very teeny tiny clot.
The bleeding seems to have stopped so I'm hoping it wasn't anything bad.

Laburna · 10/12/2018 16:15

@fortheloveofdoughnuts there are lots of reasons it could be from and most of them aren't bad news. However, I would contact your MW/GP to see if you can get an EPU assessment. Is the scan Wednesday private or NHS? If it's NHS, maybe just wait, but if it's private, I'd let the MW know what's happening.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 10/12/2018 17:29

@Laburna it's an nhs scan. I've got a gp appointment shortly. Will see what he has to say.

StargazyDrifter · 10/12/2018 17:29

Afternoon, everyone. Feeling sicky and massively over-sensitive today. Came home from work early to camp out on the sofa. Spiteful monkey also present. 🐒

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts I had a bit of bleeding at 9 weeks exactly and scan doctor said it was probably placenta attaching itself inside a bit too vigorously.

SnailorSwift I feel your frustration. So far I've been sent a second booking appointment for no reason and been called to cancel an appointment I didn't even have in the first place (or wasn't told about). Clearly the system is creaking and I've also had that impulse to just go and have it all done privately (whether we can actually pay for it is another matter!). However what stops me is that private hospitals aren't perfect either - human error, IT systems not talking to each other, no action until you've paid upfront (e.g. for a blood test). I had a couple of fertility tests 5-6 years back at the Portland in London and wasn't exactly blown away, apart from by the cost! Maybe feeling like there's a better option is the best place to be? The 12 week scan can be done up to 14 weeks as far as I understand. Hang in there and commiserations.

StargazyDrifter · 10/12/2018 17:31

About GPs, I don't find mine particularly knowledgeable about pregnancy, they just rely on MWs in our area and sort of redirect the questions their way. Is that the norm or just a local thing to here?

Kentishgal · 10/12/2018 17:41

Hello, sorry not been on in a bit but been feeling crappy. Had the worst migraine I've ever had over the weekend, spent entire night on bathroom floor vomiting and crying. They started around this time last pregnancy and lasted till 16 wks. I'm not sure i can take it again.

Hope everyone is feeling a bit better - I've enjoyed catching up on the news and hearing about Claire - cheered me up!

Kentishgal · 10/12/2018 17:44

Ps I was 7 and half stone at the start of last pregnancy and over 11 stone by the end 😂. I was 7 and a half again before my BFP this time....but I can't face the scales - I think I'm just destined to be massive again. Got booking in appointment on Wednesday so will see then - wouldn't be surprised if I've put on a stone already - I'm not kidding!!

Laburna · 10/12/2018 17:47

stargazydrifter I think it depends on the GP to be honest. When I went for a referral to the recurrent miscarriage consultant, the (incredibly young & male) GP I saw was really clued up on the process and what it involved. I was most surprised!

FuzzyPixel · 10/12/2018 17:55

Evening all.

@kentishgal, I have my booking in app on Wednesday too.

I'm going to speak to the midwife about HG. The nausea is constant and debilitating, I had a urine analysis recently where ketones were present so I really need to be careful.

DH is talking about decorating a nursery already, so I need to slow him down a bit. When we went through IVF he sped up on our house purchase, so has a history of just wanting things to be done. I'm pleased he is excited though.

8+2 today but I'm really counting down the days until get get that twelve week scan, hoping the midwife will give me the appointment at booking in.

TwinkleDay · 10/12/2018 18:20

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts I was 7+ 2 when I had heavy red bleeding for two hours then it cleared up , after some research and speaking to others could be the placenta taking over. And if it stopped pretty quick that’s not so bad... but just scary I know x

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 10/12/2018 18:46

@TwinkleDay I hope that's what it is.

Seen my gp. He was very nice. What to reassure me that bleeding can be normal in pregnancy. He went through when to go to a&e, if bleeding was very bad. He was also very realistic, Yes, there is a chance of miscarriage.

DartmoorDoughnut · 10/12/2018 18:55

Also having some bleeding today (7+4) dark brown & watery so I’m trying to stay hopeful but this is how my miscarriage started in August and I didn’t have any bleeding in both pregnancies previously with my boys so as much as I’m trying to stay hopeful I’m pretty resigned to this ending badly Sad should have an early scan on Wednesday or Thursday so I’ll let you all know how it goes Flowers

StargazyDrifter · 10/12/2018 19:10

Fingers crossed for both of you lovely doighnuts.

I decided to cheer myself up on the way home today and bought a new lipstick and some... wait for it... White Musk bath foam from the Body Shop. Don't really know what possessed me to even go in, let alone buy it. Surprisingly nice in the bath it was too! I'm going to put it down to cravings.
