@JBCG congratulations on your scan also! Are those little arms you can see?

toomanyflatwhites · 21/12/2018 09:39

Congratulations @fee1234! Do I recognise that ring from Tiffany by any chance? Am still trying to choose one despite our wedding now being postponed due to bloody awkward French laws!! Have you talked about dates - will you get married after the baby is born? I would still like to try and do ours before, but could get tricky as it now has to be in France...
Congrats too on the lovely scan @JBCG and hope all goes well this morning @coastergirl - and happy birthday @Reastie! Hope I haven't got any of these good wishes in a muddle Hmm
I'm 15 weeks today (whoot!) and last day at work before Christmas - thank GOODNESS, as still haven't told work and it's now getting bloody obvious!

coastergirl · 21/12/2018 11:18

So we have a healthy but very awkward baby. Wouldn't move for the measurements at all so we couldn't get the screening done. Been booked in for the quad test but that will only give us a result for Downs, which we wouldn't terminate for anyway. Never mind. Terrible photo! Really uncooperative.

Glad the scans went well ladies!

Happy Birthday Reastie! It's my birthday on Boxing Day and expect til will be the same as yours, we'll make up for this next year! Hope you can enjoy at least some of the day.

I'm 14 weeks today, this feels like the longest slog EVER!!

CrazyCowLady · 21/12/2018 12:18

Hi,

Can I join please? :)

First baby, 2nd pregnancy (misc at 11/40 last year) EDD 11th June, 15+ 3 weeks now.

Starting to feel slightly better but still get some rough/tired/sicky days.

Congrats to all on scans/ engagements/ starting to feel better!

WeeBean · 21/12/2018 12:33

Welcome @CrazyCowLady ☺️ sorry to hear about your previous miscarriage, glad you're over the worst of the sickness though!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 21/12/2018 12:46

Welcome CrazyCowLady!
coastergirl sorry baby was being a pickle and they couldn't get all the measurements but at least it all looks well on the scan :-)

Bigonesmallone3 · 21/12/2018 13:40

I have a letter through for a consultant apt today for week after next..
Worried me a lil bit as it's so early, I hope there was no problem with bloods from the 12 week scan 😔
I was told it would be a consultant led pregnancy so I hope it's a routine apt! Anyone else had one so soon?
Il be 15+4 by then..

Kescilly · 21/12/2018 13:44

@Bigonesmallone3 I've seen a consultant twice now and I'm 17+2. I think my first appointment was around 14 weeks but they thought I was about 13 when it was scheduled.

It probably depends on the reason you're consultant led, but I'd think it's good that they want to see you early on.

Bigonesmallone3 · 21/12/2018 13:47

My last baby had low water even though I never lost any and an abnormal beat in the cord 🤷‍♀️

fee1234 · 21/12/2018 14:03

Thanks everyone!

@toomanyflatwhites it's not from Tiffany's (but flattered you think so!), it's from a jewellers in Glasgow I believe! We won't be getting married before baby is here, will just see how it goes. Although most of my (very catholic) relatives would probably prefer us to get married ASAP. Hope you manage to get something sorted.

MauisLeftNipple · 21/12/2018 15:15

Bigones i wasnt consultant led last time but was referred for review, and my appt came through really quickly.

Am meant to be this time but not heard anything yet (am 13+4).

Torsz · 21/12/2018 16:35

I need your opinions/knowledge!
I'm 17 weeks today and just found out my niece (who were due to spend Boxing Day with) has chicken pox.
I've definitely already had it and most things online seem to say it's fine for me and baby to see her.
But some friends and my mum have said they don't think I should.
I've left a message with the maternity team but does anyone know if there's actually any risk?

Napssavelives · 21/12/2018 16:38

My eldest son has the pox at the moment. From what I read online from some nhs site if you’ve had it it’s not an issue

Torsz · 21/12/2018 16:55

Thanks @Napssavelives - that's what I want to hear!!

lstef · 21/12/2018 17:49

ugh, going back to work feels like its ruined christmas for me, i was all excited about it cos it felt like I was on school holidays (even tho feeling rough) and now working 22,23,26,27, 28. in surprising news I seem to have got almost my full salary for Nov/Dec despite being off sick the whole time. I was expecting to get hardly anything this month.

I also seem to be developing PGP or SPD - first it was pain in my coccyx and then its now also in my pubic area when I walk/stand up - fun times! Could be due to twins and a 17-18 year old coccyx injury...

oh and dad told me not to worry about the money side of things and to look after myself, so every time I get worried I remember that! (complicated relationship with dad - long story).

sorry for the moan, I have days where its all exciting and happy and others where I just feel bleugh and down and not motivated or happy about anything. all part of this journey I guess!

Hi to everyone else and congrats on engagements and scan pics! I'm mostly lurking on this thread these days...

Bimbabo · 21/12/2018 18:10

Hi @CrazyCowLady .... My due date is 11 June too. I've started to feel more like myself this week with the tiredness so hopefully yours will pass soon.

If I'm not posting before, hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and all the best for the New Year! What an exciting time we are going to have next year. Much excitement!! xxx

socktastic · 21/12/2018 18:34

Urgh, still feeling pants today. Constantly on the verge of vomming. Retching loads when I think too much about it too. My saviour at the moment is irn bru. Previously, I couldn't look at the stuff but now it's all I can manage. So much so, the kids in my class are noticing how many I'm throwing back in a day. The other day there were 3 drained cans on my desk!

Also started trying the toilet training with the toddler this afternoon/evening. Had to utterly force myself to be all enthusiastic about it and upbeat when he had his accidents. Cleaning the poo in his pants was a particular highlight! Toilet trained in 3 days? My arse!

Anyone else got a bloat bump? I'm definitely thicker but no discernable bump, just a pudgy tummy! I went so far as to look out my maternity clothes from last time round. Tried the jeans this morning before realising I was a size 12 back then! Certainly not now. Will have to buy more clothes. How awful!

hexagon01 · 21/12/2018 19:45

@socktastic I’m massive most of the time but smaller at the beginning of the day so still mostly bloat I think. 100% in my maternity clothes though! How old is your toddler? I’m not sure if mine will be too young to potty train before the next comes (2 year 1 month gap) but I’m absolutely dreading the thought of 2 in nappies.

Bigonesmallone3 · 21/12/2018 19:54

Mine will be 2 years and 3 months.. I think it'll work perfectly as I won't be out as much and it'll be warm, she can play in the garden with no bottoms on..
I think she already had a concept of it as she knows mummy goes for wee wees and when she's done a poo she quite often lays down and screams 'MUMMA poos'

I clearly think this is gunna be a walk in the park 😂

MauisLeftNipple · 21/12/2018 20:13

We trained our eldest when #2 was born and DH was on paternity leave. She was 26 months and done in a day, although she'd been offered the potty for months beforehand so she knew what it was for. I am going to attempt to train my youngest next week. He's not quite 2, however i figured since nursery is closed til Jan it's the best time to do it. Just need to find some energy from somewhere...

socktastic · 21/12/2018 20:18

He's 2.5 so really really needing done. Thought since were on holiday now we have the time to spend getting him sorted. Defo need him dry for starting nursery in August!

Fabuluce · 21/12/2018 21:42

I'm a firm believer in when they're ready they're ready. A friend of mine spent the best part of 9 months trying to potty train her LO because of family pressure when nursery kept on saying he just wasn't ready. Eventually after many failed attempts he finally started to pay some interest, she tried again and lo and behold he got it! My son was happy to pee/poo when he was bum free for months before he had any interest in actually removing pants and trousers. We had a chat with nursery when he turned 3 and agreed they would support us and he got it in 2 weeks. It was a hellish two weeks though. Poo pants are 10,000 times worse than nappies!

Fabuluce · 21/12/2018 21:44

Congrats on the scan and the engagement @fee1234 - what a stunning ring!

Welcome @CrazyCowLady!

I've still not got my consultant appointment through but I do have a scan appointment with the fetal cardiology unit which I assume is replacing my 20 week scan. Would be nice if they would actually let me see the consultant to discuss it all though!!

Blondcat · 21/12/2018 21:53

If anyone is interested george (asda) and h&m have started their sale online (not loads of choice or sizes but few bits) including maternity wear just managed to grab a swimming cossie and some jeans
