@reastie I think one of each would be wonderful! 💖💙

@weebean I might be wrong by I'm sure I read somewhere not all hospitals in Northern Ireland offer the screening due to reasons behind terminations. I just had a quick look and some do, also it looks like you can pay for them privately

Reastie · 17/12/2018 14:01

Sorry curly, I have no idea what yours is! I’m not sure how accurate my guess is as I’ve been looking at other examples and putting my own guess on them and then reading and finding out other people think the opposite so maybe I’m completely wrong! Yes it’s the white bit sticking up. It’s quite fun this guess work isn’t it!

You know, it’s funny how many people think everyone wants one of each as a complete family. I’d never realised this was a thing until I read a mn thread about it. I’ve always thought if I had a preference it would be for having girls (although would be happy with either). I remember a boy I went to primary school with had 4 brothers and each time the mother was desperate for a girl and kept having a boy!

Curlywurly3 · 17/12/2018 14:03

I know someone who had 5 boys as she a wanted a girl! All the girls came when her boys had their babies!

Reastie · 17/12/2018 14:11

That’s true, we have a friend of the family who was desperate for girls but had 3 boys but now has granddaughters and is so excited about it!

WeeBean · 17/12/2018 14:20

@curlywurly3 that's probably it, I couldn't get a termination here even of the baby wasn't going to survive, would just be good to know if that's something we might encounter to prepare ourselves.

@Reastie I've asked for a call back from the doctor but to be honest it's just such a busy busy practice that I don't even know if it's a possibility. I'm at the point where resigned to the fact I can't get something to help and I'm losing the will to keep ringing to ask.

Curlywurly3 · 17/12/2018 16:02

I learnt something new today! Has anyone heard of the Ramzi method? Basically if your placenta is on the left side it's a girl, on the right it's a boy! Apparantly my placenta is on the right!

Bigonesmallone3 · 17/12/2018 16:11

@Curlywurly3
I would of guessed urs as girl but I guess the ramzi theory says otherwise..
Can u tell from a scan photo where the placenta is? apparently my 12 week scan had no nub so I couldn't do it :(

Curlywurly3 · 17/12/2018 16:17

This is my scan at 7 weeks. They say the baby is closest to the placenta at the beginning. I think the placenta is the white fuzzy bit inside the wall. There is a lot of information on Google about it..

That's my scan at about 7 weeks.. what do you think?x

Reastie · 17/12/2018 16:22

Curly.....wouldn’t it depend if the scan was internal or external as tomwhich side the placenta was on?

Curlywurly3 · 17/12/2018 16:23

Was it internal or abdominal? That way you know if the scan has been flipped x

Curlywurly3 · 17/12/2018 16:23

Reastie you beat me to it! My scan was internal x

Bigonesmallone3 · 17/12/2018 16:24

Abdominal..

Curlywurly3 · 17/12/2018 16:26

Here's the explanation

Curlywurly3 · 17/12/2018 16:28

It might be worth you sending it to the nub techs if you're interested...

curlypasta · 17/12/2018 16:57

Can’t tell where my placenta is at 9 weeks tho?!

Kescilly · 17/12/2018 18:03

I can’t wait to find out if we are having a boy or girl! I don’t know how to do the nub theory but here’s the pic from a few weeks ago.

I’m totally stressing over my visa application even though I’ve known it was coming all year. Now I’m worried about getting an appointment around the holidays.

Pigriver · 17/12/2018 18:18

Finally had my first scan today. Dated at 13w2d with a EDD if 22 June.
I'm High risk due to a kidney condition so will have scans and consultant appts at 28 32 36 weeks plus monthly renal function tests. Was as the hospital 2.5 hours today!
MIL died suddenly in Friday so the scan was bitter sweet. I cried as the baby will never know their grandma and dh struggled to hold it together for me. It's a twinkle of positivity to keep us going but we are too shocked and upset to feel excited at the moment.

@Pigriver
Due date twin ❤️
Sorry u have a crappy time.. congratulations on ur lovely scan

Kescilly · 17/12/2018 18:36

Oh Pigriver I’m so sorry, I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for your family right now Sounds like baby is healthy and safe inside you so focus on taking care of yourself.

stellarfox · 17/12/2018 18:43

I have no idea what I'm looking at for the nub and ramzi methods, but nub techs can look at both and annotate your image/send you a little explanation so I thought it was really good! Alternatively theres a facebook group called strictly nub theory and the admins on there will give you their opinion and that's free

We may have discussed this before but is anyone going on a babymoon and where are you going? I was thinking somewhere warm in March so it's a good two months before the due date but not sure where!

Reastie · 17/12/2018 18:45

Pig I’m so sorry. File dies suddenly and unexpectedly a couple of years ago here and it really shook us all up and was very difficult to deal with. Just take every day as it comes and be kind to yourself.

stellarfox · 17/12/2018 18:46

@Pigriver sorry for the sad news, but glad the scan went well. There is plenty of time to feel excited later on, you can only process so much at a time x

Blondcat · 17/12/2018 18:55

@pigriver glad you had a good scan but sorry about your loss.

@stellarfox we are off to lanzarote in January

LauralovesLuke · 17/12/2018 19:47

@pigriver I'm really sorry about your MIL.

@stellarfox we were thinking Lanzarote in Feb half term, but now decided to save the money and go away with the baby next year.
