Thinking the sickness was gone at 15+2 ... no such luck.

Hugging the toilet bowl this morning Envy

Napssavelives · 16/12/2018 12:11

Oh no @madeincornwallx3 hope it doesn’t last xx

MadeInCornwallx3 · 16/12/2018 12:18

I haven't eaten yet today which has probably triggered it @Napssavelives .

I need to make sure I eat but easier said than done with two little uns running around!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 16/12/2018 15:32

I'm 14w+4 and still getting nausea MadeInCornwallx3. Its def worse until I eat.
Everyone keeps saying "oh but you're past 12 weeks now so you should be feeling better", as if I'm lieing. Not helpful!

Reastie · 16/12/2018 15:42

Urgh, I remember the whole ‘but you should be better now you’re past 12 weeks’ comment with disbelieving looking faces. I wish! Am in bed this afternoon as I’m feeling so sick I can’t even manage to lie on the sofa .

Naps that’s a bit harsh. Is she the kind of person where things come out wrong iykwim? I’m terrible for meaning things really nicely but somehow putting my foot in my mouth and saying it completely wrong.

fee1234 · 16/12/2018 17:08

Hi everyone, haven't caught up yet but hope you are all doing well x

I'm in Iceland at the moment and flying to New York tomorrow, finding out the sex on Wednesday!

My nausea is away but my spots are still here and I've had a cold for the last week.

Kescilly · 16/12/2018 17:44

@fee1234 so exciting! Hope you feel better and have a great trip!

I have a quick question ladies. My parents have offered to help buy some baby furniture and my mom is coming to visit in January. But I have no idea where to go shopping here! Other than IKEA or buying items secondhand.

What stores should we be looking at?

Fabuluce · 16/12/2018 17:58

We got DS's bedroom furniture in the sale in Mothercare and will be using it for this one. It's lovely! IKEA does lovely children's bedroom furniture.

hexagon01 · 16/12/2018 18:04

We got our cotbed from John Lewis, one of the cheaper ones but it’s brilliant. That’s the only piece of furniture we bought for my son’s bedroom as we already had a chest of drawers in there and he doesn’t need a wardrobe or anything.

I’m feeling a little bit weird about my nuchal test results even though I know I shouldn’t be. Last time was 1 in 25000ish for both, but this time it’s 1 in 7000 for Downs and one in 2200 for Edwards/Patau. Logically I know that’s still really low risk but I don’t understand the huge difference - I’m only 29 and I gave birth to my son less than two years ago. I know I just need to snap out of it and those are not high risk results but I can’t stop thinking about it.

Kescilly · 16/12/2018 18:25

Thanks ladies! We don’t have a John Lewis but could look online. I think we have a Mothercare here but might be closing down. Is Mamas & Papas any good or very overpriced?

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 16/12/2018 19:09

@Kescilly

M&P is great; bit hold off until around Dec 27th as I’m convinced that’s when they go into sale

toomanyflatwhites · 16/12/2018 19:29

Hi all, sorry to those of you still feeling sick, it seems so unfair :(
I'm just MEGA grumpy (and hungry), DP has been super short tempered too so we just keep yelling at each other all weekend which is HORRID...especially when DD (aged 2.5) either starts shouting to copy ("You bloody thing! You're going back to the shop!!" when we were arguing about the tree decorations I had bought - yes really) or she says "mummy are you sad? What daddy said?") - all a bit heartbreaking...

toasterstrudle · 16/12/2018 21:37

I'm still vomiting @MadeInCornwallx3 - it's crap! I'm 14+3 and starting to wonder if I'll be one of those who have it the whole way through this time! Weight loss has plateaued at least but I'm not gaining any back. No bump whatsoever!! Hopefully will pop at some point Grin

toasterstrudle · 16/12/2018 21:39

I ended up sitting at the table and just crying this afternoon when DH got up, he works nightshift and I was trying to look after ds whilst vomiting into a bowl and then DH asked what everyone was gonna have for tea. Luckily he recovered it quickly and took over but for that brief minute I could cheerfully have murdered him. Think it'll just be two children for us after all, pregnancy does not suit me!

excitedmama · 17/12/2018 00:15

Hey all. Hope you’re all well. I hear you all on the nausea front, I’ve had a few days of no appetite and a funny tummy.
I’m 15 weeks now and I think I’m feeling little flutters. But maybe it’s all in my head and wishful thinking.
Also - super grumpy. The smallest things that my 5 year old does or my husband says can irritate me so much, I’m kinda scared I’ll snap at someone at work!
Super excited to find out the gender in a month’s time and see the baby again.
Anyone else struggling for Christmas spirit? I feel grumpy, tired (low iron levels), unmotivated and I should be getting so much done. Hey ho. They’ll be another Christmas where I’m feeling more up to it.... right? x

KoalasAteMyHomework · 17/12/2018 08:06

Sounds like lots of hormones kicking in! I'm grumpy a lot too but also broke down in tears yesterday over nothing!
Really hope the nausea and sickness eases up for us all soon!
Shop wise we used Mothercare and John Lewis for our DS. We also got a lot of nice stuff from Toys R Us (well babies R Us) so am a bit gutted its not around anymore. Kiddicare was another good one, though think you can still get stuff via Dunelm Mill. We found Mamas and Papas nice but expensive and I second the opinions that IKEA is good :-)
@hexagon01 try not to worry about your risk results. Mine were MUCH lower with my 1st baby too. My hospital has an intermediate risk bracket as well as low and high, and even though my results were 1 in 1000 for Down syndrome and 1 in 7000 for Edwards/Patau its still considered low, not even intermediate, and no other diagnostics needed. I convert it to a percentage if that makes you feel better? If my maths is correct 1 in 1000 is only 0.1%, so that means 99.9% that all is fine :-) its all based in your bloodwork and baby's measurements which is why it may be so different this time. My mum says in some ways she was glad she didn't have all these scans and tests in her day as it meant she wasn't worrying about this measurement, or risk, or scan result etc as you just had to assume all was well and get in with it! Try to put it out of your head, or mention to your midwife if you are particularly anxious.

annihall · 17/12/2018 08:29

@KoalasAteMyHomework thanks for your reply to @hexagon01 as I was concerned about the same thing!
My results for downs were 1 in 2000 and I'm 28 so I was a bit worried about that number compared to what others my age got. Sounds a lot better if you put it in percent, I think that's how they should deliver those results to you, because if you get a 1 in 2000 chance compared to someone else's 1 in 20,000 chance you do freak out a bit and get worried...

KoalasAteMyHomework · 17/12/2018 09:32

Yes we were very worried too, but percentages make me feel better! Our son is classed as disabled as his autism does really affect him so if there were chromosome issues with this baby then I wanted as much notice as possible so we could prepare! I'm sure all will be fine though :-)

Kescilly · 17/12/2018 10:24

Mine was something like 1/650 so I’d love any of your results!

Reastie · 17/12/2018 10:48

Toaster that’s rubbish of your dh, I really hope you start feeling better soon.

I looked at some nub theory info this morning and then my scan photo and I’m a bit in shock that I think from looking at the nub it’s a boy. I guess I always saw myself with two girls but I don’t know why. Please don’t think that I’m disappointed, I’m just trying to get my head around it. Attaching picture to see if you agree

WeeBean · 17/12/2018 12:57

None of these tests for downs or anything else were mentioned to me at my scan last week (and I didn't think to ask as I was just concentrating on not throwing up). Is anyone else on here from Northern Ireland and had these tests or do they just not do them here?

I'm 13+4 and still feeling so grim, doctor gave me new tablets and they just knock me out so can't really take them during the day, they don't help with the nausea or sickness anyway. I wish there was a fast forward button to June, I feel like Christmas is just passing me by and I'm starting to worry that I won't be able to leave the house on Christmas day.

Reastie · 17/12/2018 13:07

WeeBean what did they give you? I ask as if it’s cyclizine it does make you feel very spaced out and sleepy initially but if you stick with it it will wear off in a few days. It also can have a build up effect so just because it’s not initially working give it a while to see. It’s rubbish feeling so sick isn’t it, I really hope you feel better soon, it feels like it’s never ending and so tough mentally.

WeeBean · 17/12/2018 13:33

@Reastie it's Promethazine 25g, could have the same effect, I really wanted a doctor's appointment to discuss it but couldn't get one until 28th. I sort of feel like I'm figuring these meds out myself rather than with the doctor's guidance, I just ring up and speak to the receptionist.

You're having a tough time too!! I really hope we both feel better this week and can enjoy Christmas with our families!

Reastie · 17/12/2018 13:42

Ahh, I was given that initially with dd, it definitely zoinks you out but didn’t take it for long enough to know if it wore off as it didn’t help me (but know it does help others). I think (but coukd be wrong) it works in a similar way to cyclizine. Can you get an emergency apt or a phone consultation on the day as an emergency with a gp? Seems a long time to wait until 28th if the medication isn’t right or working for you.

Curlywurly3 · 17/12/2018 13:49

@reastie I saw your post and realised I hadn't even looked for a nub on my scans. I really don't know what I'm looking for! Do you think boy because the white bit sticks up? What do you think of mine?
