@lstef In 1927 my great-grandma delivered twins naturally (obviously there was no choice in those days) and my granny and her sister came out with their arms linked - how cute is that?!

@jbcg - it sounds like the sonographer was having a bad day himself!

Reastie · 15/12/2018 07:44

JBCG those are just the sort of things you really don’t want to hear at a scan! How stressful. But at least you get another cheeky extra scan. I remember with dd I had a rude and abrupt sonographer at my 12 weeks scan, and given I still remember even now and dd is 7 it must’ve upset me! She wrote on the scan notes ‘view obstructed due to adipose tissue’ (ie fat) which made me sob afterwards as she got all the measurements etc she needed.

Got my scan this morning, keep your fingers crossed for me.

Apparently we might get a bit of snow later today.

MauisLeftNipple · 15/12/2018 08:00

Good luck for your scan Reastie. I hope the journey is bearable. Please let us know how you get on.

I ate raw salmon last night, pre-ordered as part of a Xmas meal. I didn't realise it would come raw. I figured the restaurant would have pre-frozen it so went ahead and ate it. Feeling slightly guilty that I should have rejected it though.

stellarfox · 15/12/2018 08:56

@JBCG how awful, I know when we had our scan I was looking intently at the u/s technicians face to see if anything was wrong. Bedside manner is really important especially doing these scans when there sometimes is something wrong. Hope this was a one off and you have a better experience next time

@Mauis most likely frozen and even if not I think quite a lot of salmon are from fish farms where they’ve almost eradicated the danger. I was researching to see if I could eat sushi! I think you’d probably know quite quickly if you’d got a tummy bug anyway so I wouldn’t worry if you’re fine this morning.

Got my 16 week midwife checkup on mon! I like looking forward to the next milestone. I guess the one after that will be the 20 week scan and that’s half way through the whole pregnancy isn’t it? Eek!

toomanyflatwhites · 15/12/2018 09:07

@MauisLeftNipple if it makes you feel any better I couldn't resist eating a bit of raw Christmas cake mix yesterday afternoon (and DD are bucketloads...) and realised afterwards the eggs were past their date!! Fingers crossed for us both 😜

Napssavelives · 15/12/2018 09:53

My 4 year old is being an absolute arsehole today and I’m really beginning to worry how I’m going to cope with 3. Fold him we weren’t friends today, mature right!

lstef · 15/12/2018 09:55

weird thing happening this morning, lying on my back, and I've got a firm bulge on the right side of my stomach (between belly button and pubic bone - with a few twinges- thought trapped wind and might still be, just been for a poo lol tmi and its still there, but could this be the babies? Im 13+6 with twins, very odd feeling! anyone else had this with current or prev pregnancy?

MauisLeftNipple · 15/12/2018 10:22

Thanks for the reassurance ladies. I feel more nauseous than usual this morning but think thats due to a late night and getting up for 5 wees during the night.

Raw cake dough, yum! You'd know if the eggs were off. I always use them past their best before, just do the float test first and crack I dividually into a glass and sniff before adding.

Istef it probably is your uterus you're feeling. I can feel mine and have been able to for a few weeks. Mine is usually to one side rather than centred.

Blondcat · 15/12/2018 12:20

Just been into town for some shopping as hadn't done much feeling too rough. It is bloody freezing out and my winter coat won't do up! Did manage to get a pair of maternity jeans from new look for £12 in the sale so that was great. Also got the three Emma's diary packs from boots so got some freebies.

Great news on the recent scans though sounds like some not so much with poor bedside manner!

socktastic · 15/12/2018 15:49

My scan from yesterday. Everything looking good.

Also had flu jab yesterday and feel utterly cruddy today. Maybe I was already brewing a cold but added to the nausea it's awful. Specially as it's snot at the back of my throat that makes me retch in the first place. Also just cried at Paw patrol. Don't feel like a very accomplished adult right now.

coastergirl · 15/12/2018 16:10

Thought for the day: they should have rest areas in busy city centres for pregnant ladies. Christmas shopping is killing me!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 15/12/2018 16:26

@socktastic

I feel for you.

In fact I feel for you so much crying at Paw Patrol it makes me want to cry!

@coastergirl

They totally have this in some John Lewis’. Really!

Cassia90 · 15/12/2018 16:46

Thanks @KoalasAteMyHomework nice to know I'm not the only one! Yes the midwifes were so good, I've been relaxing all day husband on call, lovely x

MauisLeftNipple · 15/12/2018 18:08

We received a xmas card from neighbours in our Close, who I may have met once and wouldn't recognise if I fell over them. It said "exciting times ahead for your family!" Odd thing to write as a general greeting don't you think? Husband immediately asked if they know I'm pregnant, and I said how would they, unless his parents have blabbed to our immediate neighbours (who know I've been unwell and keep asking after me), and the neighbours have blabbed in turn.

Reastie · 15/12/2018 18:50

Mauis I’m sure it was meant kindly. Do your dc know? Just wondering if they might have mentioned it whilst outside and neighbours might have heard?

Coastergirl my local shopping centre have quite a few comfy seating areas to recover from shopping outside the shops. It’s usually frequented by bored looking men!

Socktastic hope you feel better soon, that’s why I was worried about having the jab done until I feel a bit better with the nausea. Lovely photo

Blondcat great buy with the maternity jeans.

Re raw cake dough I was listening to the radio last week and they were talking about a type of food poisoning that you can get from raw grains so by eating uncooked dough even if it doesn’t have egg in could be a risk from the uncooked flour. Think it’s quite a rare type of food poisoning though

Well, I managed to get to my scan but I felt so rough I nearly turned around to go home a few times. Think my anxiety made my nausea worse. All looked good except baby was in an awkward position to view so to get the measurement for dating they had to do an internal. It was funny as the sonographer said to me before she does the internal I needed to empty my bladder. I replied I was fine and didn’t really need the loo thank you (assuming she meant to go for comfort sake) but she said I had to to get a good view of the scan and she could already see from the scan that I needed to go! Turns out I didn’t manage quite a big wee despite not feeling like I needed it!!! We did have a giggle at the fact she knew more than me that I needed the loo —I hope she couldn’t see how constipated I am—

MauisLeftNipple · 15/12/2018 19:07

Reastie only my eldest knows/understands, and she knows not to tell anyone (she hasn't even told her teachers, who knew I was in hospital but not what for). Our direct next door neighbours know my in laws were helping out for a few days because I was really unwell. Maybe it was just an innocent remark, who knows! I'm just sensitive because still awaiting Harmony results and so, so many ppl know I'm pregnant. Am dreading a positive result, and that I can feel the bean (or is it a pear by now?) moving around is actually making me feel worse.

Reastie · 15/12/2018 19:17

Do you have any reason to think you’ll have a positive result mauis? Do you know when results will come?

MauisLeftNipple · 15/12/2018 19:22

I'm 38, so higher risk. Should find out by Wednesday.

Reastie · 15/12/2018 19:45

Try to keep busy to make the time go quickly mauis. I’m sure it’ll be fine but I know that’s easy for me to say. Are you feeling less sicky still?

MauisLeftNipple · 15/12/2018 21:02

I'm feeling a bit more nauseous today than I did at the end of the week, actually feel like I'm hungover! Hopefully it was just the late night and salty meal last night. I am very busy for the next few days so lots to distract me (distraction has also been good for the nausea as am trying to wean down meds).

Napssavelives · 16/12/2018 10:38

Told a friend I was pregnant yesterday.. her response.. yeah I though that given it was the first time you hadn’t moaned about it.

This baby took 10 months to conceive and given I have known pcos we were beginning to really worry that we would heed intervention, is it not ok to talk about feeling sad that I was struggling to Concieve?! Seems fair to me, kinda thought we were friends. It’s not as if I went in for hours.. more a frustration at the process when I saw her every couple of months. Not cool.

Torsz · 16/12/2018 11:16

@Napssavelives that is a bit of a harsh way of putting it, although my family said something similar - they said they were wondering as we'd stopped talking about it as much! I guess I'd been giving pretty regular updates over the past couple of years then had gone quiet lately!! I wouldn't take it to heart - it's a big part of your life so it's not surprising that you'd talk about it!

Napssavelives · 16/12/2018 11:25

@Torsz thanks torsz, it did seem harsh to me too. Especially when I spend my time with her listening and listening (she was a first time mum so lots of the usual concerns). Guess it’s a bit eugh as not really had many positive reactions to this baby. Fuck em! Me , DH and the kids are over the moon

Torsz · 16/12/2018 11:36

Couldn't agree more - nobody really matters apart from your lil family 😁🥰
