I’m already on pee pot number 3 so luckily they’re not rationed here!

I’m feeling very excited as we have just accepted an offer on our house and had one accepted on another!! Hope to be sorted and moved by June - also hoping to use my ‘condition’ as an excuse not to do too much packing Wink

MadeInCornwallx3 · 12/12/2018 13:27

I find the not having the jab thing annoying too. One of my best friends is staunchly anti-vaccination and we can't talk about it!!! Her daughter's had none of them at all ever.

I'm 14+5 so early for movements but I'm so god damn impatient!! I had anterior placentas before but no clue about this one, I did ask at the 12 week scan but they said they couldn't tell yet. I'll be asking at my gender scan if they can tell then!

Torsz · 12/12/2018 13:34

I'm desperate to feel movement - I know all was fine at the 12 week but that was nearly a month ago and I had hoped to hear the heartbeat this week so I've started feeling all anxious about whether everything is ok. This is my first baby so I know I'm unlikely to feel anything for a while yet but I'd really love to!!

fee1234 · 12/12/2018 13:53

@hexagon01 ohh exciting stuff for the house! Hope all goes well.

@GreenDill my pic from the nub techs came back as 98% boy too!! Will be interesting to see if it's right, I find out a week today.

Kescilly · 12/12/2018 14:11

@hexagon01 how exciting! Tell us about the house!

@Torsz I’m right there with you on all accounts. We booked a gender scan for Christmas Eve and at the time that’s all I was thinking about. But now I’m getting a bit anxious to see that baby is alive and well again.

Lots of boys on the thread so far!

JBCG · 12/12/2018 14:16

Just had my flu jab - I've never had one before so am a bit intrigued as I have also heard of people claiming to get flu from flu jabs .. hopefully that's just people being a tad dramatic! The nurse says it takes 2-3 weeks to become effective.

fee1234 · 12/12/2018 14:30

@JBCG I heard that a lot too! But it's apparently not a live virus they inject. I had a sore arm for 2-3 days but that was it

Kescilly · 12/12/2018 14:41

Yeah, the jab isn’t a live virus. You can have side effects from it, but you won’t get the flu from it.

I feel like some of it is genuine side effects, some of it is psychosomatic, and some of it is the timing. It’s the time of year when people are more likely to catch a cold of some sort and it’s easy for them to conflate the two.

Torsz · 12/12/2018 14:47

I didn't have any pain/side effects - just peace of mind knowing I'm protected 😄

hexagon01 · 12/12/2018 15:02

Thanks fee and kescilly! It’s a 1930s semi with a beautiful mature garden. I’m very excited, we’re moving from a terrace with a concrete yard.

Kescilly · 12/12/2018 16:08

@hexagon01 that sounds lovely! I can’t imagine how excited you are. Keep us updated!

I’ve just booked an NCT class after hearing people talk about them here. I looked up that other one (Daisy?) but there weren’t any in my city. I’m already feeling a little social anxiety at the thought of these classes, hoping it will be worth it.

Chocomalt · 12/12/2018 16:14

@GreenDill I had an anterior placenta last time and felt movements from around 16 weeks, although most with anterior feel it later but it is possible earlier...

@JBCG I didn't get any side effects from the jab either so fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that you don't!

Sounds like lots of gender scans planned and 16 week checks! Very exciting. We'll be able to start adding colours to due dates!

Belated welcome to new joiners! Just caught up..

Chocomalt · 12/12/2018 16:16

@Kescilly we did the NCT classes last time, and made some great friends, and definitely helpful to have that network of people nearby to help you through the long nights! And the understanding of going through it at the same time. The content covers the main things, but the social was the most useful long term.

Reastie · 12/12/2018 16:25

I’m so jealous of all the 16 week apt’s and gender scans when I haven’t even had my 12 week scan yet Sad .

Kescilly hope you enjoy nct. Remember everyone is in the same situ.

Hexagon that’s super exciting. We moved when I was in my third trimester with dd and it was quite good as no one would let me move anything Wink

Started getting the excess saliva thing this week, anyone else?

Did anyone hear Alex Jones has announced she’s pg? I’m happy for her as she always seems lovely. I watched the one show a couple of weeks ago and I noticed the other presenter go to hand her a champagne as part of the show and then he did a double take type thinking look and kept it for himself making a comment about having the champagne and how good it was and I thought to myself then she was pg and he was saving her having to look like she was drinking it, and I was right! Wonder if she’ll be due same time as us.

Reastie · 12/12/2018 16:27

I read her book ‘winging it’ as part of a mn feedback thread thread and would recommend as a very light and fluffy pg and baby book. Not overly informative but easy to read and enjoyable.

emily1511 · 12/12/2018 16:31

Anyone had shellac on nails during pregnancy? Is it ok to do so?

GreenDill · 12/12/2018 17:04

I didn’t have any side affects from the flu jab either! I did have a very sore arm though, couldn’t even lift it to shave my arm pit!

choco fingers crossed ill feel earlier movements then! It’s just so reassuring when you can actually feel them isn’t it?!

Chocomalt · 12/12/2018 17:12

@Reastie ooh, that will be interesting to see when her due date is! When do you have your 12 week scheduled for? I bet you're counting down!

@GreenDill 🤞🏻 definitely so much more reassuring

@emily1511 not had them during pregnancy, just normal nails, but I've not heard anything at all to avoid, so guessing it's most likely fine

Reastie · 12/12/2018 17:15

Choco scan is on Saturday morning. We are going for a private 12 week scan rather than nhs (surprisingly it’s cheaper to pay for a £60 private scan than the money lost for self employed dh to take time off for nhs one which I’m not complaining at as we hopefully will get more photos and also get a dvd of the scan Grin )

WeeBean · 12/12/2018 17:47

@emily1511 I've never had the shellac nails but was going to get them for my wedding until I read something about the chemicals in whatever is used to soak them off being dangerous during pregnancy, I'd double check first.

Bigonesmallone3 · 12/12/2018 17:56

Iv always had gel nails, u can opt of an acetone soak off which a quite a strong chemical or they can file it off

hexagon01 · 12/12/2018 20:35

@Reastie I’m still all about the excess saliva and I’m so very over it...

Siannybobs · 12/12/2018 21:47

Here's baby giving us all a thumbs up Grin we had a magical scan yesterday, measuring exactly 12w so a few days later than originally thought. Also had a few days off work sick as I couldn't keep anything down, but out the other side of it now and sat on the sofa eating a solero staring at my scan Xmas Grin

GreenDill · 13/12/2018 07:14

siannybobs lovely scan! Glad to hear you’re feeling better!

I get acrylic nails done so I can’t comment on gel but I don’t know why they wouldn’t be ok? As mentioned before the acetone is quite strong but they can file them off instead if you ask x

Napssavelives · 13/12/2018 07:34

I’m still so tired. Been very emotional all week, bloody hormones! It’s making work challenging too (nurse) and I’m struggling to not let what I see at work effect me. 1 more week then 2 weeks off for Xmas.. nor that in even slightly prepared
