@Holly257 There’s a facebook group called strictly nub theory and they will look for you, or try the nub techs website if you want a guess for fun.

I’m jealous of everyone finding out genders as my partner is dead against finding out. I will be keeping my eyes out at the 20 week scan though incase I can get a sneak peak Smile

annihall · 11/12/2018 13:28

Lovely scans ladies :)

The nub techs couldn't see anything on my scan pics so booked a private early gender scan for next week (will be 15 weeks then) - hopefully they'll be able to see something, really hoping to find out so we can tell the family at Christmas when we're revealing our news :)

hexagon01 · 11/12/2018 13:32

I definitely didn’t hear the heartbeat until my 25 week apt last time, which is a shame but it’s what I expect again this time!

JBCG · 11/12/2018 14:10

Hi ladies! I've been a bit quiet over the last few days as I've been busy unpacking and had MIL over to stay. I seem to have turned a corner with my nausea thankfully!! I haven't been sick since Saturday which has been amazing!! Still very tired though!

Loved seeing all the scan pictures and welcome to new joiners!

We were told we were going to have another scan this week as only 11+1 last week so the sonographer said it was too soon to do all the checks and she'd schedule another for this week but I haven't had an appointment through yet so not certain. Would be lovely to have another scan before the weekend as we're going to DPs family for an early Christmas this weekend as we're having Christmas with my family this year. Hoping to have a nice scan picture to share with them!

curlypasta · 11/12/2018 22:17

I found out today that you only get one sample pot! I went it for weekly appointment and she had to give me a cup coz I didn’t bring the tube I got given last week! Turns out nhs have made cuts by restricting the amount of urine pots you get 😂

Fabuluce · 11/12/2018 22:33

It makes me really cross when I hear stories about not being able to hear the heartbeat - I've had 3 seven week scans and the first thing they do is switch on the volume so we could hear the heartbeat. It's a load of old rubbish that they can't hear it, unless the machine's are truly ancient of course (and if so why are they still using them!). Also, I don't understand why midwives don't give you the option of having a Doppler to hear the baby at the appointments. That's just mean. I was always offered (granted once I got to 18 weeks I had to have weekly dopplers but that's also a case in point that you can definitely hear it before 25 weeks) once I was in the 2nd trimester and also have heard the heart beat at every scan I've had (apart from the one we lost). Grrrr

Kescilly · 12/12/2018 01:39

Hi all, just checking in. Not much to report here, I’m 16 weeks today but don’t have my appointment with the midwife until I’m 16+6 since my dates were moved. Also more blood tests and meeting with the consultant next week.

I don’t feel any movement, don’t have many symptoms, it all feels a bit at the back of my mind right now. Focusing on my visa application so that I’m hopefully allowed to stay in the country!

Napssavelives · 12/12/2018 06:51

I was offered Doppler at 16 weeks with both mine but was told you can’t always find the heart beat because of babies position but they were always happy to try . I’m dead today, no bloody energy. Almost 14 weeks, energy will come back soon right?!

fee1234 · 12/12/2018 07:18

Morning all. Nothing to report here either, got my hair done last night so I look a bit like my old self again. Packing for my trip to Iceland and New York and none of my cosy leggings fit anymore, I'm tempted just to cut the waistbands with scissors to make a bit more room.

I thought I felt something yesterday, a bit like bubbles popping, but convinced myself it must be gas. 15+2 today and we find out the sex a week today (in New York!)

Hope everyone is doing okay x

Reastie · 12/12/2018 07:55

Curly one sample pot? Somthey give it back to out every time to empty and refill for next time?! I remember last time being sent to the loo just with the dipstick to wave in my wee stream whilst going as they didn’t have any pots!

Fee have a brilliant holiday

Re the energy, I never got the second trimester burst of energy that was promised last time. I got a bit less tired then first trimester but never normal energy.

MauisLeftNipple · 12/12/2018 09:13

I have been given a sample pot with funnel which I am supposed to reuse and bring to each appt. I had to use the contraption at the booking appt and the funnel is a bit stupid really.

At my previous trust, the mw would send me to the loo with a cardboard sample pot and would test the wee from that.

toomanyflatwhites · 12/12/2018 09:34

Only one pot???
I seem to remember by the end of my first pregnancy I had figured out some sort of hack for peeing directly into the tube without getting a wet hand but if course I have completely forgotten it again now. Luckily in my first appointment the MW gave me a few pots to take home for next appointments so I can decant it instead.

JBCG · 12/12/2018 10:06

Has everyone had their flu jab? I had a sudden realisation this morning that I haven't had mine yet!

Reastie · 12/12/2018 10:38

JBCG I haven’t had mine yet but only because I’ve been feeling so sick I’ve barely left the house. Dd and dh have both had the flu jab so I’m hoping my chances of getting it whilst stuck on the sofa are minimal. Once I feel better (hopefully in the new year) I’m going to do it. I know it takes a while to become effective and fly season will be well under way by then but I’m struggling for going to my 12 weeks scan on Saturday and I just can’t manage the flu jab atm.

Kescilly · 12/12/2018 10:49

Yes, please get your flu jab as soon as you are able to! I have one every year anyway, so had mine and then ended up falling pregnant soon after.

curlypasta · 12/12/2018 11:13

Yep only one pot for the whole pregnancy. I left it full in my bag yesterday, must remember not to do that again!!

Ksjourney · 12/12/2018 11:21

Curly pasta you made me laugh. I did the same thing a few weeks ago but I forgot it for two days🤢. I not feeling great and struggling to keep my fluids up so it was very dark and concentrated. There was absolutely no way on this earth I was opening it and risking being sick for the afternoon. The whole lot went in the bin. I'd happily go directly on the stick or in a disposable bowl next appointment if they do not want to provide a second. 😂😂😂

GreenDill · 12/12/2018 11:48

So behind as the thread moves fast! RE the heartbeat, I never heard it at any of my early scans or the 12 week scan. I do have a Doppler at home that I’ve managed to find the heartbeat with a few times. Due to babies size and having an anterior placenta it can be tricky though. With DD we definitely listened in at 16 week appointment though!

I really hope my trust isn’t on the “one pee pot” bandwagon, I always miss every single time so I don’t really want to put it back in my bag after! Confused

Flu jab, I got mine during the TWW as the nurse said it wouldn’t have any negative affects.

GreenDill · 12/12/2018 11:50

Oh forgot! I sent my scan picture off to the nubtechs (and nubologists!) to see what they thought, both came back with 98% confidence the baby is a boy! Which really threw me off as this pregnancy has been identical to DD’s so far!

MadeInCornwallx3 · 12/12/2018 12:43

Oooh that's exciting @GreenDill ! Will you get the sex confirmed?

Re: movements - has anyone had any they can say for definite definite are baby? I've had a couple of 'is that?' moments but still waiting for the 100% it was baby.

I have my 16 week appt next Friday and hoping to hear heartbeat, then gender scan on Saturday 22nd Grin

GreenDill · 12/12/2018 13:06

madeincornwall yes will be getting sex confirmed. I don’t even have the patience to wait for my hair to dry let alone wait another 6 months.

With DD I felt definite movements from 17 weeks, but I’ve been warned I probably won’t feel anything definite this pregnancy until around 20 weeks due to the anterior placenta which is annoying!

WeeBean · 12/12/2018 13:07

On the pee pot front you can get them from the chemist. I've had to get 3 for different things in the last 18 months, one gave me it for free, the others charged 50p.

MauisLeftNipple · 12/12/2018 13:08

I had to take my 3 year old for preschool jabs so asked for my flu jab then. Had been putting it off as feeling so, so awful and quite frankly sick of going to the surgery (it was my seco d home for a while!). All of us apart from the 1yo have been done, so fingers crossed we'll all be ok. Btw my in laws used to refuse the jab "because everyone we know gets sick after it". Then MIL got the flu and was bed bound for a week. They now get their jabs!

Kescilly · 12/12/2018 13:17

Maui it drives me crazy when people say things like that! I’m a little worried that my ILs will turn out to be like that, but I’m hoping not. My own family is full of doctors so they’d never refuse, but they also aren’t the ones living here.

I didn’t know they’d ask you to reuse the sample pot! Frankly I think that’s kind of disgusting and there is no way I’d be putting it in my bag. I wonder what happens if I were to refuse? I’d happily buy my own!

No movements here, @MadeInCornwallx3. But it’s only 16 weeks, I’m overweight, and I have an anterior placenta. I don’t expect to feel anything for at least a month.
