@Bigonesmallone3 I'm sure everything will be fine, I've been having some round ligament pain in stomach if I do to much moving around.

@Ksjourney I had to take it out this morning, woke up and it was still red and a bit infected looking. First time I've had it out in 10 years! Barely recognise my stomach without it.

Good luck for scans today / this week, and welcome to new people 😊

Napssavelives · 10/12/2018 10:37

Currently researching food to help with energy. I’m feeling less sick but I need to eat regularly, feel like it’s time to eat less toast and think about what I’m eating as feel like a dead woman walking. Any ideas?! google suggests nuts!

WeeBean · 10/12/2018 10:50

@Napssavelives I've always found nuts are good for a quick energy boost and for filling you up for a little while. Unfortunately I threw some up the other day and it was not nice so that's been added to list of 'no foods' for a while :( Tesco does a good nut and raison mix though, it's in a blue bag.

Has anyone been eating grapes while pregnant? I'm really craving some but a couple of things I've seen online say they've to be avoided, I'm not sure how definitive the info is though.

fee1234 · 10/12/2018 11:55

@GreenDill how did your scan go this morning? X

toomanyflatwhites · 10/12/2018 11:57

Hi all, I was offline over the weekend as visiting family, but think I've caught up - welcome to new people and Paul that sounds HORRIFYING, hope you are feeling lots better now and over the shock.
Have had a bit of a stressful development at the weekend (non pregnancy related...) - some of you might remember we are planning a v short notice wedding (about 6 weeks from now). We were trying to choose rings this weekend but DP has thrown a spanner in the works for the whole thing as for various complicated reasons it looks like we might have to have a legal wedding in DP's home country instead. Am feeling super deflated about it as I thought DP and I were finally on the same page with our plans but now - actually through no fault of his own - the whole things being put in doubt. We haven't actually booked anything yet (our date is on hold and we need to send the forms in) so no money spent but am just so stressed and feel like the rug has been pulled from under my feet. Hoping to get some clarity on our options today but I feel like it's all just too much - this afternoon we've got another private scan and the harmony test results so just praying everything is ok, I can't take any more bumps in the road!!

Blondcat · 10/12/2018 13:52

On the grapes front I have been mixing away on a punnet of grapes a week for the last few weeks just make sure I wash them well. Didn't even know there was a potential issue... Nothing seems that conclusive online so going to just keep munching as really enjoying them.

Got my results through the post just now and pleased to say low risk less than 1:10000 for downs and 1:1349 for the other two. Really pleased especially given my age.

Goodluck those with scans today/this week x

MauisLeftNipple · 10/12/2018 15:02

I went for my Harmony test and scan today. I made the mistake of having a hot chocolate beforehand so the bean was dancing non-stop. They've dated me at 12 weeks exactly. I think I'm very definitely 11+3 so will be interested what the NHS scan says (still waiting for an appt...). They did a quick 4D view. That was just weird. I will have the results by next week.

WeeBean · 10/12/2018 15:30

Thanks for that @Blondcat, I'm going to give in to cravings I think! I only saw they could be an issue because i was googling everything before I ate but as you say, there's nothing conclusive. A friend told me I needed to avoid pineapple as it could bring on miscarriage, my GP told me it was the first she'd heard of that (after I avoided them for 2 weeks in Hawaii on honeymoon 🙄).

GreenDill · 10/12/2018 15:49

Scan went well! Measuring exactly to dates so 12w5d. Just in from the school run now so will read back on messages from earlier - hope everyone is having a good day. X

mummysuz · 10/12/2018 16:59

Hi All, first time poster here but long time reader.
Just joining now as things are starting to get a little more real. This is my first pregnancy and its been so lovely following you all, its been very reassuring hearing you all go through similar things to me!
My DH works abroad so is away a lot of the time so sadly he is unlikely to be able to be a part of the appointments etc. my first of which is tomorrow (I was abroad visiting him for a while so am having my booking appointment late).
According to the pregnancy calculator I am due on 28 June but hopefully will get a better idea after my dating scan!
Very excited and even more so to be going through this with all you lovely lot.

Reastie · 10/12/2018 19:05

Lovely pic greendill

Hello mummysuz, we are due close together as I’m 26th, although could change at scan later this week.

I’ve never heard about not eating grapes Confused . I head of the pineapple thing before because apparently there’s some enzyme or something that’s suppose to bring on labour. I remember when I had reflexology when I was pg with dd she said there was a spot on my feet she couldn’t press until near due date because it was associated with bringing on labour Shock .

Counting the days to feel better. I can’t believe how much this is dragging.

mindthechaos · 10/12/2018 20:21

Hi, sorry I disappeared for a bit- my anxiety was getting bad so thought I’d take some time away from my phone and social media. Got my scan on Friday though and so excited!

I’ve never heard about grapes before (and didn’t bother to google as I went and ate a few after thinking about grapes) but heard before about pineapple to bring on labour but the amount of pineapple you’d need to eat to get enough of the enzyme is ridiculous.

toomanyflatwhites · 10/12/2018 20:29

Great pic @GreenDill and welcome back @mindthechaos! And welcome to new posters too, I don't think I joined a thread with DD until I was about 12 weeks and remember how well I felt I knew everyone else on the thread from reading along for weeks before I said hi!
It's good news from me too as for my harmony test results back and had another scan today (3rd in 3 weeks thanks to 2 private ones associated with the test, and the NHS one in the middle, I got a bit blasé about it!) and results came in much lower risk than the NHS combined test (1 in the 1400s instead of 500s for Downs).
Less good news is that for purely administrative reasons related to DPs home country and different rules is that our January wedding we were planning is almost definitely off 😭

Hello everyone! Joining now I've had my 12 week scan but have been following along for a few weeks. We are having our first baby, due 19th June. We are living abroad at the moment but we expect to come back to the UK for the birth. I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who's been posting- it's made being abroad at this time little less lonely and helped me understand what is normal and what is unique to this slightly crazy place! I've been fairly lucky so far, only a little nauseous and quite tired- I'll still be really glad to be out of the first trimester. Good luck to everyone with scans still to come, here's a wave hello from our little one!

Torsz · 11/12/2018 09:14

Well that was a little disappointing - just had our 16 week midwife appointment (although we're only 15+4) and my husband took the morning off work as we were hoping to hear the heartbeat. It turned out to be 15mins if admin and nothing more - I asked about the heartbeat and she said they don't do it until at least 25weeks and usually not until 36?!
Feeling a bit deflated now as I haven't felt any movement yet and just wanted something to make me feel pregnant!!

Reastie · 11/12/2018 09:36

Torz what a disappointment. When I had booking in mw told me that I would hear hr at 16 weeks. Must vary between areas. Did you have to do a wee sample? I remember having to do that every appointment last time!

Hi 2countries, it’s a great thread isn’t it. The an thread I was on with dd I could not have got through pg without it, it was one of the best things and a lot of us are still in touch via fb grp. I met a few of the ladies in rl too.

Toomany Envy of all the scans

Torsz · 11/12/2018 09:40

@Reastie I know, I saw on a Facebook post the other day that most people got to hear it at 16 weeks so I got my hopes up!

Yes they'd given us a sample pot and asked me to take a sample in with me - although I've just realised they didn't give me one for next time so not sure if they forgot!!

mindthechaos · 11/12/2018 09:54

Great news about the harmony test toomany however sorry to hear about the wedding.

Yeah I think hearing the heartbeat depends on the area as when I was in London I heard at my 16 week, but in Bucks with dd2 it definitely wasn’t until after the 20 week scan.

It’s probably been asked a million times- how do I join the Facebook group?

toomanyflatwhites · 11/12/2018 09:57

Thanks @mindthechaos - have to tell my mum and the venue today 😢 Trying not to be too upset about it but I was sooooo grumpy last night with DP and DD.
I was so preoccupied with that I forgot to say that we also found out the sex yesterday (trying to keep it a total secret though - let's see how that goes!!!) AND we told DD the news last night that she's going to be a big sister. She is 2 and 7 months so wasn't sure how she would react - at first she seemed a bit nonplussed, then I showed her the scan and she got excited - then asked if she could go back in my tummy! The rest of the evening she was totally over excited and kept asking me if the baby was scared/sad/happy/asking where the baby is, could she take it out of my tummy button - all very cute! It's going to be a long wait for her though!

toomanyflatwhites · 11/12/2018 09:59

Oh and re the heartbeat - we were lucky that we heard it at our private scans, also think we heard it at our NHS scan at 12 weeks, does everyone? Or are we just talking about opportunities after scans where you hear it on a Doppler?
@mindthechaos if you send me a PM (via the web version of MN not the app) I think I can send you an invitation to the fb page.

Torsz · 11/12/2018 10:02

@toomanyflatwhites no we didn't hear ours at the 12 week scan - hopefully we'll hear it at our private scan on the 23rd as otherwise we won't be hearing it until 25 weeks at the earliest! It is odd how different they are in different places 😣

Torsz · 11/12/2018 10:03

@toomanyflatwhites ps so sorry about the wedding, that most be so frustrating!! But how exciting re: gender - I can't wait to find out ☺️

Reastie · 11/12/2018 10:04

Re hearing hb, I had a scan at 9 weeks and was told they couldn’t let me hear hb as the untrasound waves were too weak to do it but I could at 12 week scan (they must use a stronger something or other) but I found that strange as other people have heard hb earlier than 9 weeks so that must vary between areas too. Have 12 week scan on sat and am really scared if I’m going to be up to making it and hoping I don’t feel too awful recovering afterwards.

Toomany, sorry, missed your comment about the wedding, that sucks. Are you losing a deposit on venue or can you get it all back? Hope you can manage to do it soon, it’ll be wonderful whenever and wherever it eventually is.

mindthechaos · 11/12/2018 10:07

Thanks toomany I'll send you a PM now. Do you know when you'll be able to reschedule the wedding? We had to cancel our first wedding (as dd1 was a surprise and due less than 2 weeks before the planned date) so you have my sympathies. It's going to be a long wait for your dd but her excitement will just grow and it will be a lovely gap between them (roughly same as dd2 and this baby for me)
